As always my friends lets get a few things out of the way, first HUGE thank you to STUDIOARTDINK and ININ games for the review code both Wonder Boy Asha in Monster World and the exclusive to the retail version, Monster World IV. Second and most importantly, I can not stress this enough, Monster World IV ONLY comes with the retail version of the game and NOT be bought digitally.
Now, for the important part, the review itself. Monster World is quite the simple concept.
Take a cute cartoon like character, a beautiful environment solid platforming and add a true and tried formula story about spirits and a new warrior and you get Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World. Seriously, I wish I had something to say negative about this game in some way. The platforming is solid and responsive, the difficulty is fair yet challenging. The closest thing I have to a negative is this just isn’t actually my type of game, but I still enjoyed my time with it.
The combat is also great, its easy to learn and pick up, which is where this game shines. So much of this game is just made to be approachable. There are collectables to gather, some of which will have real effects on the game and make it easier but if you choose to ignore them, nothing bad really happens. I always love when collectables are helpful in a real way, but are pretty much optional to collect. I do however recommend grabbing them.
Truth be told, if this is your type of game, there is no reason not to run out and by this. This game is an 8/10 no questions asked. It is beautiful and it is fun. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
