TheHunter: Call of the Wild’s “Peru Hunting Reserve” DLC PlayStation Review

TheHunter: Call of the Wild’s “Peru Hunting Reserve” DLC was once again sent my way by the fine folks over at Avalanche Studios, which I always appreciate, and I always love working with these guys on The Hunter series. This new DLC brings us to Peru for a whole new place to hunt, and it will set you back about $12. Now, the question that is always asked is, is it worth the money? Well, let’s be honest, 14 new animals in a beautiful and scenic tropical jungle, what can go wrong?

From a gameplay perspective, not much. The place is beautiful, every square inch of it is stunning. Peru quickly became my favorite place to just walk around and take in the sights. But if I get attacked by one more damn jaguar, I am going to hunt them to extinction. ( in the game, not in real life.) These things will attack you if you get too close to them, make no mistake. This is the first time playing this game where I felt like an animal actually hunted me. I can’t prove they do, but the only thing that has done more damage to me than the jaguars in Peru is me driving the quads like an idiot. This is not a complaint; it is amazing.

Also, don’t shoot the capybara. Nothing happens if you do other than make some money; I just like them. Such cute little guys running around, I once got attacked by my mortal enemy, the jaguar, just watching the capys hang out eating. Admittedly, that one was on me.

Even the places you sleep and adventure to are unlike anywhere else in the game. They have such character to them. This DLC is a home run. It is a 9/10 experience that every fan of the game should pick up. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

theHunter: Call of the Wild – Game Feeders Pack 2 DLC

TheHunter Call of the Wild is back with DLC Feeder Pack 2, and once again, Avalanche Studios was nice enough to send me this one to check out. The price of this one is about $7, and it comes with 3 feeders. Honestly, how good these feeders are comes down to how much you enjoy hunting the animals they attract. So let’s take a look and see if this is worth the money for you.

First, we have a Mineral Lick, which helps bait herbivores you couldn’t bait before. Mostly, this is things like goats and bovines. I didn’t use this too much because, honestly, I never found these animals hard to shoot in the first place. It does work; however, shot a goat right in the head thanks to this thing. I was aiming for its neck. I am not good at this game, but I simply enjoy it.

Next, we have the Scent Tube Feeder. This one is nice and attracts things like foxes and wolves. This one I liked because hunting these is always annoying, and this makes it a bit easier, so if you always wanted to shoot a fox or a wolf but could never quite get them often enough, toss one of these down where they pass and give it some time, and you will be happy.

Last is my favorite, the carcass feeder. Just a huge chunk of meat hanging from a pole meant to attract huge meat eaters. If you like hunting gators for money, just toss this bad boy down and wait, and something that was already easy becomes easier. Want to get that large cat that’s long eluded you? This is your ticket to heaven, quite literally, if you aren’t careful.

This is honestly a 9/10 DLC for fans of the series, but it won’t be worth it for everyone. Like the other feeder pack DLC, whether it is worth it very much depends on whether you care to hunt the animals these feeders help attract. If you like to hunt ducks and birds, this is completely useless to you; there is already a DLC out there for you. For most of us, however, this is great. The Hunter Call of The Wild Premium Trophy Mount DLC Review

Yesterday, you may have read my review for The Hunter Call of the Wild: Scotland Hunting Reserve DLC Playstation 5 DLC Review. Well, today we are talking about the smaller, but for some of you, just as important Tropy Mount DLC. Once again, Avalanche Studios was kind enough to send me a copy of this to check out, so I would love to thank them for this once again.

The real question with all of these DLC packs is, are they worth the price point? This one is smaller, only $4, and comes with a few things that I will copy and paste from the PlayStation Store as to not mislead anyone.

The real question for all of you is, do you enjoy mounting trophies and hunting these specific animals? For example, I have only shot a handful of birds my entire time playing the game, never shot a boar, and only a couple of coyotes when missions demand it. Being from Pennsylvania, however, I have hunted deer and bear all day because I don’t get out to hunt much these days in the real world. If you aren’t going to hunt these animals, why spend the $4? On the other hand, if your bread and butter, so to speak, are these animals and you love mounting your best kills, this is money well spent.

I can’t say this is a great DLC for everyone, and we all know I judge games and DLC based on the value it brings and how well it is done. For $4 and the right buyer, this is a 9/10 DLC. But think hard before you purchase it, because a lot of people will be spending $4 on content they will never use. Personally, it would be well worth the $4, for I know a few players who should never purchase this. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
