Effulgence RPG – ASCII-3D-powered sci-fi RPG hits Steam Early Access Dec 2 (demo available)

After checking out the demo for this, all I can really say is, go check out the demo. It is essentially a turn-based RPG combined with Monster Hunter. You go into battle and kill enemies, then use those parts to build bigger and better weapons. Effulgence RPG has a demo available, and it is well worth checking out.

Key features at a glance

  • Text-only visuals – the entire game (characters, environments, effects) is built from text symbols.
  • Tactical turn-based combat with a PING system that controls turn order and timing.
  • Convert enemies into gear – harvest raw parts from defeated foes and print new weapons and items.
  • Short satirical dialogues and a slightly absurd, darkly humorous tone instead of a heavy epic story.
  • 3D-style globe map built from symbols, with locations gradually unlocking as you progress.

It should be noted, and the Developer has been very up front about this, that the December 2nd release into early access will be a very compact version of the game because they want to focus on player feedback for the first part. There is also a supporter DLC during early access that will be completely free to anyone who gets the game before the 1.0 release and won’t become paid until after that. (Those who got it free will have it free forever.) So go check it out, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Decktamer Release Date Trailer

Decktamer releases on Steam on October 27th, but you can hop over and play the demo right now if you want. This monster tamer, combined with a rogue-like, will see you using living cards that, once they die, are simply gone forever. You can also fuse cards into entirely new cards. If you love card games and collecting monsters, you owe it to yourself to at least check out the Demo for this one.. Enjoy the screenshots and trailer below, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Overtype Coming 2026

Just announced from Zozo Studio is a typing based Rogue Like called Overtype set to launch on Steam in 2026. The concept is simple, you play as Zyra in a fast paced hack and slash cyber punk world where each word and phrase you type will help you fight off enemies. The faster and more accurate you type, the better your chances of survival. As you die the world changes and you unlock new abilities and weapons.

There will also be an Eidolon system to upgrade zyras weapons with things like a plasma shot and anti virus shot and numerous boses to fight. Enjoy the trailer below, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown Demo Review

If, like me, you have been waiting to get your hands on Daedalic Entertainment’s upcoming title, Star Trek Voyager -Across the Unknown, you do have some more time before the full game launches. You can hop over to Steam right now, however, and try out the demo. I have already done this, and I must say, some great things are going on, and a few things I am disappointed with. Let’s get some of the bad out of the way.

For starters, at least in the demo, there are no voice actors. I was truly hoping to listen to Janeway and the crew listen and talk about the choices I made, both the good and the bad, as I made them. The demo, for example, allows you to just skip the entire trip. Instead of destroying the array, you can simply use it to come home. This does upset certain crew members, and you can make further decisions to upset even more of them.

Suck up all you want, you still aren’t getting promoted like your friend Tom.

This is a minor complaint; I don’t mind reading. It just would have been nice as a fan of the show to listen to Janeway and Chakotay bicker like an old married couple. The controls also felt a little slow to respond at times, which again could very easily have been my system, more than anything else.

The game, however, shines in other areas. The tutorial does a great job teaching you to play the game. Scanning systems and picking up supplies is simple and intuitive but can feel like life or death all the same. Having parts of your ship shut down because you didn’t think to shut down non-essential systems before jumping systems is a real bummer, and having to tell the crew to suck down rations instead of real food is a quick way to piss them off.

Combat feels like commanding a real starship. You don’t fly the ship yourself; instead, you give commands on what to target and when to fire torpedoes. Don’t waste time on slamming them off shields; they aren’t very effective. Wait too long, and the opportunity to cause some serious damage might pass.

Will this be the definitive Star Trek experience? It is far too soon to tell, but is it well on its way? Yes, this demo is painting the picture of a game many of us have long since wanted. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Construction Crew revealed. A new co-op simulator is coming to PC and consoles from Ultimate Games

Just announced by Ultimate Games and coming to consoles and Steam is Construction Crew. I won’t say it is coming soon, as it has some pretty lofty goals and some big shoes to fill. Tentatively, release is set for sometime in 2026 or 2027, but a demo is set to come out this month. Check out the demo below, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Anime Umbrella, a Great Gift

Every so often, here at Savior Gaming, I get emails that make me question what I am doing with my life. Usually, it’s about local women in my area who want to meet. This time, it was something that actually surprised me, and that doesn’t happen often after almost 10 years of doing this.

The nice people over at Anime Umbrellas asked if I would be interested in reviewing an umbrella. Now I have always been completly up front with you guys about things like this. They did send me a beautiful umbrella, completly free of charge to check out, that I personally picked off their website. There was no stipulation on which one I could choose, there are no affiliate links or payments involved. You will however notice the pictures have the Anime Umbrella water mark on it. I took them right off their website, this way if you see one you like you can go purchase it. I am not being payed for it, I just enjoyed the product and thought you might like it as well.

Now with that out of the way, lets get to talking about the umbrella. Once again to be upfront, I was not expecting much. It is an anime umbrella, we have all seen these things at conventions or local shops. They usually sell for 40 or 50 bucks, are made from a cheap plastic, and will break as soon as you use them. This is the exact opposite of what is being sold at Anime Umbrellas.

The is the heavy cardboard box it was packaged in

I was greeted with a heavy cardboard box when I opened my shipping package. Yes, it was unfortuantly dented a little in transit, but I can’t blame them for this, it was clearly done in shipping by shipping company. It also means my umbrella arrived safe and sound BECAUSE of this extra care they take. It is still a beautiful keepsake that my umbrella is currently stored in.

The umbrella I chose

Now I was going to post a picture of the actual umbrella I received but truth be told, I am not a fan of having my picture taken, and getting a quality picture of an umbrella is no easy task. Suffice it to say, if you have ever used an umbrella you know what the canopy feels like, truthfully I don’t know what those things are made of and I won’t insult anyones intelligence by pretending otherwise.

The ribs and handle however are definetly made out of fiberglass and stainless steel and open and closes at the push of a button. This all sounds nice, but I am sure you are asking, how sturdy is it? I am sure by now you have clicked on a link and noticed they cost $38.50 (US) and that is a fair question. So I asked myself, how do I test an umbrella? It looks like its advetised, it feels good. So I handed it over to my kid. She is 8, handed it to her and sent her outside and just watched her with it.

Now, I was 100% prepared to lose the umbrella, and I don’t recomened doing that with every child. She mostly just kept opening and closing it because she was amazed by the function. That being said, if it will survive being opened and closed as much in 20 minutes as any umbrella will be opened in a life time while a kid runs back and forth in a yard, its safe to say its pretty well built and will survive normal use. So if you are looking for a gift for a christmas gift for that anime fan in your life, or maybe just want an accesory for that next convention that will start a conversation, definetly check out Animeumbrellas.com Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

First gameplay trailer for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown

Daedalic Entertainment is one of those companies you probably don’t know the name of off the top of your head, but you have definitely seen their games around. In fact, I reviewed Yield! Fall of Rome Steam Review not long ago. Today, they released the first in-game look at their upcoming title, Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown, and it looks fantastic. The ability to change Voyager as you make the decisions as you traverse the Delta Quadrant, as you make your way home, has been a dream for many Star Trek fans for decades.

Soon, for the first time, you will get the chance to find out if you are truly a better captain than Janeway. Enjoy the trailer, and may the gaming gods bring you glory. Also, promote Harry Kim; he deserves it.

Lost in Open Steam Demo Review

Lost in Open is an upcoming strategy RPG from Whisper Games, and you can play the demo on Steam now. I, of course, did this already, so you didn’t have to waste your time if it were a train wreck.

It starts off pretty standard; you play as King Nrvesk of Ruedome, who was summoned under false pretenses so you could be killed. The game picks up with you and two of your men making your escape. You will choose randomly generated nodes that change each play-through. As you retreat to your country’s border, certain nodes turn red to represent the chasing assassins. You can still choose these, but the events become much more difficult. Stick to the standard nodes, and you can find traders, recruit people, or come across any number of random events.

The battles are also pretty standard. Turn-based on initiative, nobody’s HP drops until after you get rid of their armor, and of course, everyone has an assortment of skills and abilities with recharge times. Even on the easiest difficulty, the game does have some challenge to it. The big selling point of this game is absolutely the story. Nothing here breaks new ground, but so far it does everything well. The demo is fun and is by no means short, so give it a try. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
