Battletoads In 2019

download (7)

I swear this isn’t a joke, I mean it. Here I have proof.

See told you. In 2019 we are getting a new Battletoads game. That video is really all we know so far, but honestly this is just so random and odd. I can only imagine this was made because they were wondering what they could make in 2019 that shouldn’t exist. I will probably buy it tho out of nostalgia for all the prank calls I got when I worked at Gamestop. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

download (6)

Not long ago, Fromsoftware dropped a teaser for Shadows Die Twice. and Nobody knew what the hell it was. Theories flew around about everything from Bloodborne 2 to a new Tenchu. Most people thought however it would be a new game all together. And the winner is, new game. The game seems to be a sort of Samurai meets Dark Souls kind of thing. Watch the trailer below and let me know what you think. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Three New Gears of War Games

download (3)

Rather than drag this out into 3 post I am just going to give you the short and sweet here. This week we got told of not one or 2 but THREE new gears of war games coming. The first we got Gears Pop. It is a funko themed  mobile game based off the pop figures. No that isn’t a joke.

Second and my favorite of the group, is a Gears of War tactics game that predates all the others by about 12 years. Not much is known really except it is a turn based tactics game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics or Xcom and will be exclusive to PC.

Last but not least, and the most expected, is Gears of War 5 which they revealed with a trailer which will as always be below. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition

download (2)

Tales of Vesperia was exclusively for Xbox 360 way back in 2008, and now 10 years later for the Xbox one we get the definitive edition. Now it has (at the time of this writing) not been confirmed if it is an xbox exclusive or not. The remastered game will have additional content and characters. See the video below, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Cyberpunk 2077 E3 teaser

Of all the trailers to drop at this year’s E3, Cyberpunk 2077 is the the least I’m familiar with. Cyberpunk always made me think of Blade Runner or the 90’s Judge Dredd movie. After watching the trailer at E3, I got a heavy GTA vibe set in a neon colored, gritty futuristic world which could be cool. Looking up the trailer for this, I did find trailers for this dating back to 2013 which is worrisome and after Aliens: Colonial Marines I get nervous about games in the making that long. The game looks like it could be a fun sandbox but it isn’t the top of my list. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Command & Conquer Rivals (Mobile)

download

Command & Conquer Rivals is a new C&C for the more modern era, and by that I mean it’s for mobile. Being shown at E3 actually upset a few people since cellphone games usually aren’t shown at the event. For a more in-depth explanation for why you will see more of it tho, look here. Are Mobile Game Players Gamers?

As for what the game is, well its C&C. You gather resources and fight over a Nuclear missile in the center of the map. Whoever controls 2 of the 3 spots when the meter fills up shoots the enemy base, whoever hits the enemy base twice wins. Pretty simple concept really. The game will be available on IOS and Android but to my knowledge is currently only available in pre-alpha on Android. The game is fun but does have its issues. While feeling decently like C&C they make it a point to tell you that for now there are no in-game purchases, meaning the full game will have some.

You do occasionally win boxes with money and troops, and it is a save assumption these are what you can buy. If that is the case, this is clearly going to be a pay to win mobile game from EA. To make matters worse, at least for now the game seems to be nothing but PVP with no way to practice or even grind for stuff. The game however is fun and easy to get into. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mighty No. 9 (first impressions)

mighty no 9

Mega Man. Beloved gaming icon who sadly I have 0 experience with, that’s more of Savor’s realm. Months ago Mighty No. 9 was a free PSN game, and curiosity got me after the host of negative reviews I’ve heard about this damn game and I tried it. I’ve played Dark Souls 2 Scholars of the First Sin and I’ve played Alien: Isolation, all hard ass games, but neither of them made me rage quit after half an hour. From the get go, I felt moving feels slow and jumping feels heavier than it should. That was a red flag but soon, in the tutorial, I started having issues with the high jump weirdly enough and the instruction flashed quicker while others lingered longer.

So essentially, Beck the 9th of these robots has to go and fight the other 8 that have gone wayward. You can go to any stage in order, which is cool. I tried 2 stages and both have a strange issue: they get hit with bitches of difficulty spikes. The game goes from being easy as hell to stupidly hard in a instant. A lot of times I didn’t feel it was being hard as much as it was being a dick; I can’t say I’ve had a death where I feel it was deserved as much as a bullshit death. Also you have limited lives before you have to restart the whole level again, becoming the ultimate rage cap. I’m determined to beat at least a stage just to say I did but I can tell you, DON’T  play this if you have anger management problems, you may break your TV. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Two Point Hospital (preview)

Here we are, Two Point Hospital, another spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. Theme Hospital was much like theme park, a wacky simulation game where you ran a business. This time you treated weird illnesses from guys that walked around dressed like Elvis to bloated heads which by the way you popped with a needled and then blew back up like a ball. So how similar is Two Point Hospital?

That is about 10 minutes of game play, there is a guy walking around with a light-bulb as a head. No he doesn’t have a good idea, that is what he is there to get cured. Unlike Project Hospital which also looks amazing this one takes a more silly route than the more serious sim route. Both look great and honestly I fully indent to get both. There is plenty of room for both, but I actually think we will see Two Point Hospital on console. Nothing has been said or even hinted at for this, but it is backed by Sega and theme hospital was an original PlayStation game so if that happens remember I called it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Project Hospital (Preview)

download (3)

Project Hospital is a sort of spiritual successor to theme hospital, as you can see in the picture. However it seems a but more serious. Here is a short video with many of the details.

The game looks pretty nice, yet pretty intensive on micromanagement. My biggest fear is that you will need to interact with patients heavily and this will take away from the building and running of the hospital itself. It would be nice if this is a more of an optional feature that you can dive into when you want or in emergencies than something you spend a large amount of time doing. This game from oxymoron looks fun however and is worth watching.

There is another hospital game on the way however, and that we will cover tomorrow. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Overcrowd (PC)

logo

So the other day I tossed out on Twitter I need more indy games and movies to check out, and I get a follow from the guy that codes a game called Overcrowd. His name is Alastair and him and his girlfriend, whom has a PhD in molecular genetics, Sarah are creating this game. Together they make up SquarePlay Games. I was a bit surprised by this one, simply because of what it is. The concept seems pretty silly on the surface, maybe because I don’t frequent the subway system. I will let their video explain it however since I can not do it justice.

See, if I had tried to explain this, it would sound silly. However what you get is a deep and engrossing game with a lot to do and managing. The building aspect is only one part as you must also make sure your workers are happy so they can in turn keep commuters happy. Rats, garbage or even blood will quickly turn what should be a happy commuter into a miserable one.

I love covering indy games when I can find them, and the ones I have come across always make me look forward to what is to come. A couple even hold a special place in my heart for various reasons. one because it is a throw back to an old game I loved as a child ( that write-up is coming in the next few days), others because I love the work they are putting into it. And now this one, simply because the originality behind it alone makes me confident it will be amazing. You can see more on Squareplay Games there or here. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
