Once again a Far Cry game seems to have some controversy surrounding it. Far Cry 3 pissed a lot of people off simply because it was a rich white guy in a seemingly African nation shooting black people playing hero. Which hey i understand the sentiment but its a video game. Chill. Far Cry 5 takes place in America, North Montana to be more specific.
The general plot as we know so far is a bat shit crazy Christian cult is basically murdering people and forcibly converting people. For the first time you play a created character that must save the day. Seems like pretty standard game stuff. Good people fight bad people and away we go.
Now here is where the controversy comes in. Many people are now claiming its an attack an Christianity and making white people look evil and some are asking where all the black and Hispanic people are. Well if you care to look up census data and read through it (it sucks) you will see that about 90% of North Montana is white people. Just like when it was pretty much all black people in a nation modeled after Africa. Its called building a believable world.
The biggest flaw to the claim this game is attacking white people and Christians is i personally don’t know any Christians that behave that way. I will even go further and say i don’t know any Americans that act that way, not personally at least tho I’m sure a few exist. At the and of the day if you see this game as an attack on you and your race or religion the problem is not the game, the problem is with you. People in society shouldn’t act the way the people in this game do and the only reason to be offended is either you do behave this way or you want to behave this way, and that is simply wrong either way.
At the end of the day the gaming gods love us all, and we should endeavor to love each other or at least not be a pain in the ass. So as always, thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
