Full disclosure right now, there is a decent technical difficulty about half way through but I carried on. Still, here is my second reading from the protocopy of my magnum opus and the announcement of my first release. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Time for some small talk
As many of you know I always strive to be upfront with you guys and gals about things. For example, I always tell you guys when I and @torstenvblog are tossed a review copy of a game and despite my great relationship with NIS America I even recommended against buying The Princess Guide (PS4 Review) because I didn’t enjoy it, something they were very cool about.
Now I haven’t talked about this lately but many of you know I am not a professional writer, and I doubt any of you have mistaken me for one. I started Savior Gaming as a hobby when my dad left me a little bit of money after he died a couple years ago under the condition I did something I enjoyed with it. So as a stay at home dad I have my kids, girlfriend, and ex-wife some money ( she is also my best friend) and started this blog as a way to keep busy while baby savior was sleeping or the older kids were at school.
I also have some pretty severe back and neck problems that come from my time in the military, as a wrestler and working in warehouses along with just generally being an idiot. About a month ago I took a job for the holiday season in a small music store to help out a friend and to earn some extra cash figuring it has been a few years, I have healed up enough to handle it.
Now you may have noticed the last week or so has been very hit or miss with my writing and that is because I was very wrong. The last couple of days have been full of doctors’ visits, new or increased meds and just generally being in pain. I can not state this clearly enough, I was NOT hurt at work, this is just an old injury that being back at work aggravated, with this came being more depressed than usual in a time of year that is always rough on me. This isn’t to say me or Savior Gaming is going anywhere, because it is not. I just felt you guys deserved an explanation of why the last week or 2 has been a bit off. Thanks for reading this far down, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Little Joe trailer 1
Here is a prime example of strange indy stuff that catches my attention. I like the unusual premise and the questions asked in the end of the trailer. While I can’t see this being a huge horror smash hit, I can see it being a interesting movie in it’s own right. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
The Grudge 2020 trailer
I’m not going to lie, I’ve never been a fan of the last, American Grudge remake that swept my middle school when I was a kid along with the American Ring remake. Whereas the last remake kept much of the Japanese influence, the 2020 movie seems to have scrapped it completely. For the most part it looks like a generic horror movie and I can’t see much promise in it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Bonfire – The Review
Antlers trailer
Just when I think horror maybe dying, I find something damn interesting. Antlers has some striking visuals I wouldn’t expect anything less from Del Toro. I’m pretty hooked to find out what this creature is but I’m glad you don’t see much of it in the trailer. I’m pretty excited for Antlers now. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Movie Fights – Edition 4; Braveheart (1995) vs. Gladiator (2000)
Bloodshot trailer 1
Bloodshot is the latest in a long, endless line of comic book movies that I have to admit looks pretty badass. The effects are pretty awesome and the plot looks fairly interesting. The only thing that makes me nervous is that Sony is doing it, but after Venom and Dark Tower it’s a fair enough concern. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone, and I hope you all have a really fun, safe night. So for the holiday, I feel it’s only appropriate to talk about the quintessential Halloween movie about today. Halloween is the frightening story of Michael Myers who stabbed his sister to death Halloween night when he was six, and fifteen years later he escaped from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and returned to his hometown of Haddonfield to kill again while being hunted by his terrified psychiatrist Dr Loomis.
Halloween is a prime example of simple horror done perfectly. Michael Myers is frighteningly cold but Donald Pleasence as Loomis and his haunted performance as Loomis elevates Michael to true legendary boogeyman status. The score by Carpenter is absolutely iconic. The ending is my favorite ever in horror and would have 1,000,000 times scarier without the truck loads of sequels. Halloween is a simple classic that is still scary today and I can’t recommend it enough. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Favorite Monster, Godzilla (Savior)
There could be no other choice for me except for the king of monsters, Godzilla. As a child, I was obsessed and in love with him, the noise he made the monsters he fought was all just so amazing to me as a kid. It was also a fond memory I had with my father as once a year we would stay up all night watching the movies. It also so happens that one of my favorite songs is about him.
Over the years Godzilla has changed drastically, started out as nothing than a guy in a suit to being a huge computer-rendered beast but he has always been my favorite and will continue to be so. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
