Doctor Strange ( 2016)

This review will probably get me some crap from Torsten. So let me start out by saying this. The movie is good. I enjoyed it.

The movie looks beautiful. The special effects are some of the best I have seen, and we all know I watch a lot of movies. You guys read about them.

The sounds are probably equal to the visuals. They would have to be. They spent millions on this stuff. Its a blockbuster movie of blockbuster movies really.

There is honestly nothing actually wrong with the movie. It is simply made for people that happen to already be Doctor Strange fans. Its one of the rare occasions the characters origin story probably should have waited until after we knew who he was.

Torsten once described this movie to me as the worlds worst texting and driving public service announcement and really that’s what it is. Basically Steve goes to a party while checking on some surgeries, crashes his car and wrecks his hands. When he wakes up and can’t do surgery anymore he searches Hong Kong for an alleged cure and ends up with magical powers.

That all being said while the movie is good, I do feel it is one of the worst Marvel movies. To be fair tho, that still makes it worth watching. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon Countdown Video

The Pokémon Company has released a new clip as part of its official countdown for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. It consists of 47 seconds, during which Kommo-o unleashes its powerful Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze, which manages to easily knock out Salamence and Garchomp. Drinking Buddies (2013)

This is one of those times Netflix lied to me. I found this movie in the comedy section. It is in no way shape or form a comedy. Not saying its a bad movie. Well not yet, just that it is by no means a comedy.

Ok now on to the part where I say this is a bad movie. The acting is well done, the visuals and sound are good and hey Olivia Wilde looks good without cloths on. That is basically where the good in the movie ends.

The story itself is essentially two coworkers at a beer brewery each dating someone else where both couples sort of cheat on each other with opposite partners with a ton of down time and talking that really doesn’t mean much and an ending that solves literally nothing. The movie is 90 minutes of basically meaningless chatter and that is coming from a man that admits to liking romantic comedies. This one is best avoided. Best wishes and may the gaming gods being you glory.

Absolutely Anything

Another Simon Pegg film I found on Netflix. This time aliens discover the probe launched from Earth back in the 1970’s and decide to test humanity. That test is to give 1 random human the power to do anything they want for 10 days to see if they use those powers for good or evil.

Well this can’t possibly go wrong can it? Well for starters they never actually told this average school teacher they randomly gave these powers to that he had these powers or that he was being tested. So he may or may not have used an alien spaceship to blow up and subsequently kill a classroom of his students. Don’t worry he has powers. He fixes that. After he may or may not have caused the dead to walk the Earth for a bit.

Ok so maybe things go a bit wrong at times. The powers seem to work like an old fashioned genie. He gets what he wants, but it is exactly what he asks for. For example he wants to be on the bus. And he literally ends up on top of the bus. He quickly says he meant in the bus and ends up in the engine. The movie is quite entertaining but may not be for everyone. Unlike his movies Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead this one really isn’t for everyone. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Cities Skylines PlayStation 4

Cities Skyline is a city creator for the PC, Xbox One and and PlayStation 4. While obviously not perfect, no game is, this one is particularly good. Sim games on console are usually pretty hit or miss. Heavy on the miss.

Cities Skylines however manages to have nice controls that function well on a controller. And while mod support is missing on console and the DLC hasn’t released yet (snowfall comes out this month) if like me you love city builders and sim games this one is absolutely a must own.

The sound isn’t bad tho like any game it can be a bit repetitive and at times annoying for some people, personally I didn’t mind it but be aware you might.

Graphically for this genre it looks great but there are on occasion some dips in frame rate. Nothing game breaking but they do exist and can be mildly annoying. Aside from that the game looks and plays amazing and watching your people come and go and drive around is great.

This game is worth buying, but only if you enjoy the type of game. Everyone else should probably pass however. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Hot Fuzz (2007)

Have you ever been so amazingly bad ass at your job the boss promotes you just to transfer you to some hick town? Yea can’t say it’s happened to me either. That is essentially the beginning of this movie tho.

Now I will admit I have a fondness for Simon Pegg movies and this is no different. The combination outrageous and dry humor just hits my funny bone.

With that being said Hot Fuzz does a great job of both making a small town seem perfect and somehow not right at the same time. The local police are oblivious but not incompetent. The movie is simply a hidden gem of writing that many people will simply overlook.

I highly recommend checking this one out if you have the time. Simon Pegg plays a cop just as well as he plays a guy in a zombie movie or an officer on a star ship and you owe it to yourself to see it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Brad’s Status (2017)

Life sucks. Then you get old. Then die. Yep. That’s about it. Brad Sloan (Ben Stiller) has a pretty nice life. A great wife (Jenna Fischer), who’s incredibly supportive of him, a cushy job, a quaint suburban house, a few friends, and a son, Troy (Austin Abrams), who’s something of a musical-prodigy and all ready […]

Scouts Guide to the Apocalypse (2015)

I’m not going to lie to you guys, I knew nothing about this movie. My daughter made me watch this and admittedly I was pleasantly surprised.

While some of the dialogue was a bit corny and many of the jokes have been made before the movie was fairly well done. It also had everything a horror comedy needs.

Cheap laughs? Got them. Good looking women? Got those as well. Zombie stripper? Yup. Zombie deer? Yup. Zombie singing Brittney Spears?…yea..that’s actually a thing too.

While the movie isn’t perfect and there are by far better movies out there I can’t think of a reason not to watch this one. By all means check it out, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
