Project Nemesis

project nemesis

First of all, a shout out to my friend Autobot who loaned me the book to begin with. Also, I want to showcase some lesser known or some upcoming authors if I can because I am one myself.

Project Nemesis is the story of an experiment gone horrifically wrong. To save a ruthless General, he commissions a murdered girl to be cloned for her heart. When it seems impossible, he presents the lead scientist with a DNA sample that not only makes it possible but has her rapidly grow. The DNA was not human. In early development, she appears almost perfect. But then reptilian features develop. Surgery time comes and the girl awakens, strong and murderous, mutating and growing. What began human sized grew to the size capable of leveling cities, each time it changes losing it’s human shape but resurfacing it’s human memories. To try stopping the beast are paranormal agent Jon Hudson and his team, Sheriff Ashley Collins, and pilot Woodstock. But can they stop the incarnation of justice and vengeance…

Nemesis is a cool book that channels a old Godzilla- Kaiju spirit I admit I haven’t seen in much literature. While Kaiju aren’t really my thing, I found the story fun with simple but likable characters and a badass monster. It’s not a long read and the sections of the book are illustrated with some really epic drawings of Nemesis’s transformations. I was a bit jarred at first by the use of first and third person perspective but it’s done well enough. In the end, Project Nemesis by Jeremy Robinson is a fun thrill ride I recommend picking up and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Deadpool vs X-Force

deadpool vs xforce

Hey kids, you ever wonder how Deadpool met Cable? You ever wished the merc with a mouth fought in the Revolutionary War? Well, this is the story for you. Time Messiah, Nathan Summers- Cable gets visions of a terrible threat to the space time continuum. A prototype time machine was stolen from a seemingly grieving mogul by Deadpool, who was hired to go back through time and ensure America’s dominance for the future. So Cable enlists aid from Domino, Cannonball, Warpath, and Boom Boom of the X-Force to take Wade down. But despite Cable’s expert leadership, there combined training and powers, Wade Wilson is not so easily dispatched. Cable chases him through time as the X Force has to split and fight the wars without screwing there outcomes.

It’s a very quick read but it’s a fun read. The characters are pretty well flushed out so I would recommend this story to new comers  as well as the long time fans. Sadly there are a lot of black censor bars, but in classic Deadpool fashion, they do make fun of the censor bars. In the end, it’s a fun adventure and it’s worth checking out. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Venom trailer

If you caught my Amazing Spider-man reviews, you may have got the feeling I wasn’t thrilled how Sony left its mark on Spider-man. That being said, I had high hopes: Tom Hardy- a great actor, a well fitting R rating, and a second chance to tell the story of one of Marvel, if not all of fiction’s, greatest anti-heroes. That being said, this trailer bummed me out. While I think Hardy is a great choice for Eddie Brock, I couldn’t help having any indication he was Brock, or this had anything to do with Venom at all. It looked like a trailer for a run of the mill Bourne clone with some sci-fi thrown in. I’ll give it a second go but needless to say, it didn’t impress me. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Deadpool 2 “Cable” trailer

We finally got a trailer I’ve been waiting for, a debut for Deadpool’s rival: Cable. The hardass Time Messiah himself and just from the two minutes of his debut we got, Josh Brolin seems to be the perfect fit. I was pumped to watch him kick ass and cracked up having Wade intervene as always. I’m glad to say so far it’s looking to be a superior sequel. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

30 Days of Night: Return to Barrow

30 days 3

We come to the third book of the 30 days of night series and arguably my favorite of the series I’ve read so far. We pick up with the town of Barrow, Alaska three years after the vampires attacked. Brian Kitka comes to the town with his young son to become the new sheriff and discover why his brother’s family really died. He soon discovers the legends of what happened in Barrow was real, and the vampires never left. They want revenge for not only the death of there kin but also to finally erase the knowledge of there existence. But Barrow won’t go  down without a fight. The story is a good blend of gory action and a good plot. You don’t necessarily have to read the first two books to get the gist but I would recommend it just because the end reveal ties the story together into a nice little trilogy.

Special shout out to a special friend “Violet”, it’s her birthday today; thank you for the support. Thank you all out there supporting us and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Solo Trailer review

When I heard Han Solo was getting his own spin-off movie, my eyes rolled. More Star Wars. The seesaw of my love/ hate relationship with Star Wars tittered towards hate once again after pulled weighed towards love again by the The Force Awakens . Though the small teaser we got during this year’s Superbowl looked promising, and Star Wars wasn’t a cinematic powerhouse, my statement still stands. I always wondered a bit about Han Solo but I don’t think he really needs a full length movie. In the end, I will give it the benefit of the doubt. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

A Quiet Place Trailer

So how did everyone enjoy the Superbowl? While trailers were a plenty, of all I saw on YouTube, it was this trailer that caught my attention most of all: a horror movie that looks to try something a little different. A family that has to live in total silence or some force will come and kill them, I assume. Granted, while  IT was great and It comes at night were innovative and tried, we also got plenty of bullshit like Wish Upon and other simple crap. The only thing that worries me is apparently Michael Bay is a producer, such as he was for many a failed horror remakes throughout last decade. Not saying his name is a death sentence but still…don’t judge til you watch one. I’m really excited for this movie and I can’t wait. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

30 Days of Night: Dark Days

30 days dark days

Soon is my birthday and I feel kind of nostalgic, that being said one of my first reviews was for 30 days of night . I’m a huge fan of the graphic novel and I’m in love with the art and just the idea of isolation with these damn vampires.

The second book picks up with Stella, one of the last survivors of the massacre at Barrow. She wrote a novel of her account of the vampires, and that has made her a target. Stella has made it her life’s goal to out the vampires with a small group of experts. On the outside, she is a strong badass but she does mourn Eben after he sacrificed himself to kill the head vampire of the group in Barrow. Well, this sacrifice comes at a price because the head vampire’s main squeeze just so happens to be really feared vampire royalty…think Eclipse if it was gory, and actually awesome.

I have to say I enjoy Dark Days more than the first. It is longer and there is much more character development as well as a healthy dose of action. I didn’t see the movie for it but I can say if you liked the first, it’s worth checking out, and I have to say the end is really well done. May the gaming gods bring you glory and enjoy the sun.

Batman and Robin

batman and robin

I’m not going to tell you this movies is good in the traditional way. In fact, if you aren’t younger than seven or you don’t like crappy movies, than don’t watch this. If you are drunk, or you enjoy shitty movies than this a must see.

So Batman and Robin go up against Mr. Freeze, a mutated cryo expert that wants to hold Gotham ransom to fund the research to save his frozen wife from a disease. Batman and Robin are at odds with each other, because Robin is impulsive and Batman is a control freak. Well besides Freeze, new seductive villainess Poison Ivy comes out with mind controlled droid of a dude named Bane. And Alfred’s dying and his niece Barbara is out to be with him. And…oh boy…

As a huge Batman fan, this movie is absolute ass. I mean if you try to look at it as reminiscent of the Adam West stuff, that will help a bit but all the puns will make you want to dive into a bottle of booze. Seriously, don’t drink to the puns in this movie- you will die of alcohol poisoning. I can’t think of one character I felt was actually done right. I do believe Schwarzenegger could have done alright as Mr Freeze if given a better script, but I don’t know anyone else that would agree with me. My most hated part of this is Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy- OMG she comes off as a plant fetish call girl hooker. Bane is offensively bad. George Clooney is hilariously bland as Batman. There’s a lot of over the top action and the look of everything is really over the top. Seriously, this movie pisses me off as a Batman film but I love it as a shitty movie, so it’s up to you to decide. May the gaming gods bring you glory and protect  you from the horrors of bat nipples.

Dundee trailer

Why, man? Why did Crocodile Dundee have to get resurrected in this day and age? Granted, after Alien: Covenant I grew a lot of respect for Danny McBride as a actor, I love the supporting cast, and I like the film is kinda reversing the premise of the classic. But I hate that it is connected to Crocodile Dundee. In the end, time will tell, but being connected to this franchise I feel hurts it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
