After Burner Climax (Mobile)

As we all know I try to check out the Sega Forever games when I get the chance to see how the function. The general idea is you fly a jet and blow up other jets, pretty simple. The sound is pretty much what you would expect from a Sega Genesis game and so are the graphics, but that isn’t why you are here.

Does the game function. The answer is yes, the controls are simple. Your left thumb will control the plane in all directions using the touch screen and your right thumb will control your missiles and guns as well as a slider that can make you go faster or slower. There isn’t really much to the game, but it is good to kill some time with tho, so if you just want a simple game to screw with on the bus this one is worth checking out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Pixel Starships (Mobile)

Pixel Starships is a mobile game from Savy Soda. The concept is pretty simple, you command a ship that you slowly build up over time to beat bigger and bigger ships. The graphics are pretty nice pixel graphics as the name implies and the sound is pretty nice.

My only real issue is that its a bit hard to control. You have to slide power bars to weapons or shields depending on what you want to do and it just doesn’t always want to go and it can be a bit frustrating and once or twice it did get me killed. If you enjoy this type of game tho it isn’t a deal breaker. There is also a story but honestly, it is pretty forgettable, I stopped caring like 20 minutes in. All in all, it isn’t a nad mobile game to kill some time with, just don’t go in expecting a ton. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sega Forever Phantasy Star 4

To the surprise of basically nobody on earth PhantasyStar 2 of Sega Forever has become the Phantasy Star Collection, Containing 2,3 and 4 of the series tho 1 as always is missing. As longtime followers know I am a huge fan of Phantasy Star 4, so while being able to play it on a cell phone is kind of cool it isn’t a huge deal to me as I have it on my PS4. The real question is how does it work?

Well the sound is damn near identical to its original release, possibly a bit better and graphically it looks good and honestly, the controls are mostly fine. A  little bit of trouble with moving around and hitting the wrong direction but that easily can be my fat fingers as opposed to anything else. The real issue is unless you have no other choice there is no reason to play it here, you can get it on all 3 major home consoles. There they have better graphics, sound more options, better controls, and a bigger screen. If you have no options this is a perfectly fine place to play it, but honestly, it’s not the preferred option. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Soda Dungeon (Mobile)

Soda Dungeon is kind of odd. You visit a bar that sells soda, decide you want to be an adventurer but can’t afford it and send a soda addict to go adventuring for you. Not even kidding about that. You then use that money to upgrade the bar (at the request of the owner) so you can attract new people to adventure for you.

The game is honestly kind of boring fast. You unlock more people by increasing your reputation and by unlocking new sodas to bring in new people to send in after new gear and money. I honestly can not recommend this game, it gets boring fast and isn’t all that interesting. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Cooking Game-Master Chef Kitchen For Girls

The cooking game is a mobile game by Play Spirit Games with quite the simple concept. Cook food, sling soda and wait on customers. It looks pretty great and the sounds are quite nice as well. The game admittedly starts off pretty was. You can make a burger and one soda while customers come in one at a time, occasionally a 2nd will overlap a bit.

As you raise funds however you can upgrade to pour more soda, cook more burgers, toss toppings on them and need to handle multiple customers at a time. The game is challenging at times but fair, and while not really my kind of game fans of this style of game will surely enjoy this one. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Nautical Life (Mobile)

Nautical Life on Mobile is a cute game about buying a yacht, traveling the world and fishing. The graphics are nice, furnishing your ship is fun and gathering a fleet of fishing vessels to gather riches is kinda neat. There are some major flaws here, mainly in the fishing itself. The process itself isn’t bad, but from the very start you run into fish you would need to be very lucky to catch. The money you receive to buy a new rod is also slow to gather and can be frustrating. You, of course, can use premium currency to get an edge in this offline game, but really with so many games to choose from this one simply isn’t worth paying money into. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Goosebumps: Horror Town (Mobile)

Goosebumps Horror Town is a mobile game quite similar to Family Guy the Quest for Stuff or The Simpsons Tapped out. You build a city based on the books and show. Each character has small activities they can do to gather coins and items to help level you up and unlock new buildings and unlock new characters. The story is, of course, made for the game and of course it rather nice for fans of the series. You can play the game entirely for free, tho to be honest many of the more notable characters, Slappy, for example, require premium currency. You get some of this playing the game of course but it does help to use real money.

The game also relies mainly on making you wait for actions to complete so you can use it as a nice way to waste some time, but all in all if you aren’t willing to spend some money to get a few of the classic characters you won’t ever get them and this sadly is the way for most mobile games like this. Fans of the series will enjoy it, but for most people, it is just kind of there. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Trek Fleet Command (Mobile)

Honestly, there isn’t a ton to say about this game, which saddens me. As a Trek fan, I was hoping for something special and fun, and it is a decent enough game. What it is tho is a free to play base building game with both PVE and PVP elements to it. It is also just like any other more or less pay to win. You can obviously grind out the materials and such to grow strong enough to play, but you will never compete with the people sinking money into the game,

The one thing I did like tho was while you are waiting for the inevitably longer and longer times to tick away you can use your ships to kill CPU enemy ships or eventually other human players. It was a pretty nice touch but it isn’t enough to really change it from just being more of the same. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dragalia Lost

Dragalia Lost is a mobile game from Nintendo with quite the good story. It works quite simply with the touchscreen, simply use your hand to guide the character and taps to attack and choose abilities. The story itself is a tale of wonder and dragons as you search for a stone to keep the fiends at bay. This is why it pains me to say I can’t honestly recommend this game for everyone.

The issue is quite simple. The game is huge, but it doesn’t start that way. You start with a small download, then get hit with another one that is about a gig. Then each mission hit me with another. None as big as the gig but the game takes up quite a bit of space, space that many either don’t have or won’t want to part with. Added to this it does have the usual buy stuff with real money to get better stuff, but by now with a free game, this is expected. You do get a full party for free tho and they were quite useful during my time with the game. Regardless, if you don’t have plenty of space you are willing to part with this is one you will want to skip. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sega Heroes (Mobile)

Sega Heroes is a new mobile game from, of course, Sega. It is a puzzle game much like many of the other puzzle fighters out there. You match colors to make your characters attack the enemies, all of which are Sega characters.

The game is fun and quite honestly easy to play, my only real issue is if you want to collect all the heroes, it is going to cost you some money. Now the game is free, so obviously they need to make their money, my issue is you can’t really choose which characters you buy. I would love to collect all the PhantasyStar characters and I would even be willing to drop a few bucks on them, but I can’t simply buy them, I have to hope that is who I get and that is an issue for me. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
