Aqua Teen Hunger Force

athf

Again, here I was watching adult rated cartoons as a kid when Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In seasons it’s changed names but the theme always kept the same: Anthropomorphic food stuffs Master Shake, Frylock, and MeatWad act as “Detectives” from there New Jersey home and deal with crazy shit like 8 Bit aliens from the moon, giant robots, the robot ghost of Christmas past, and there arch enemy Dr Weird- and occasionally there pissed off, perverted neighbor Carl. With only 15 minute episodes, the many seasons can be eaten up in a flash if you want something quick to watch. I got to give the show credit, it stays pretty damn inventive and never really feels played out. As a childhood favorite, it’s worth looking into if you need something weird in your life. AMC Theater Avengers: Infinity War Marathon

Amc

So True Believers, what’s the ultimate way to celebrate the epic event which is Avengers 3? How about a 12 film marathon leading up the climax. When Savior told me about this, I was willing to tell my job to suck my $%^& and run to celebrate a decade of the MCU. Well, as the title of this post indicates, this marathon is at AMC theaters, which before writing this bummed us out mainly because the closest AMC is about an hour away. But Alas, upon further research this marathon will only be taking place in two specific theaters: AMC Empire 25 in New York and AMC Disney Springs 24 in Florida. If you are a Marvel fan in the immediate area, this event seems like the perfect way to celebrate. More info, including the film listing and dates, can be found at AMC’s official website and tickets are still available. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Avenger: Infinity War trailer 2 review

It has all been building to this, and finally we get to see the scale of Thano’s forces as well as the nerdgasmic sight of all the Avengers together. I don’t know what got me more: Spidey meeting Doctor Strange or Star-Lord back talking Iron Man. I pray the sense of dread and desperation the trailers present are true, like watching Cap struggle against the Mad Titan himself. Overall, that’s been my biggest issue with the MCU on the whole: grand, serious, dark stories tend to get watered down with quips and puns. Either way, I can’t wait to see how it all comes together this April. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Immortal Unchained (Alpha) preview.

First of all, I’d like to give a special shout out to a dear friend Sir Feliciano, an upcoming gaming Youtuber. Love you bro. Anyway, he got access to a demo for a game called Immortal Unchained that I have to say looks pretty sweet. I’m getting a heavy Dark Souls vibe only with guns and a more science fiction feel than SoulsBorne. I will say the environment looks beautiful and the gameplay looks fun. It is an alpha however, so things are definitely subject to change. So enjoy Sir Feliciano showing off his first impressions and check him out on YouTube; may the gaming gods bring you glory.

My thoughts: DC New 52 vs Marvel Ultimate

jla ult marvel

Hey everyone, I’m glad to be back; I’m just going to start with a quick apology for being gone much of this month, I had some pretty deep shit fall on me but I’m back with my thoughts on the reboots.

So, for those new to comics, let me give you a quick rundown exactly what DC’s New 52 was as well as Ultimate Marvel. Both are alternate universes respectively, but more importantly fresh starts for the universes. I know many, including our very own Savior, that complain that a huge reason they don’t read comic books because of how damn confusing the can be. I mean, it is a valid point. Whereas manga, you can pick up the books labeled 1 through how many their are, but good luck doing that with comic books. Marvel came out with Ultimate first, taking there most famous properties and reinventing them for the new millennium such as X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic 4, and Spider-man. Nearly a decade later, DC came out with there New 52, which is a another reboot, albeit a more confusing reboot because of Green Lantern’s story referencing stuff from Brightest Day, and Batman never really restarting, but having a different kind of restart with the Court of Owls while characters like Shazam and Cyborg had a total reset back to there origin.

I’m not an expert on either but I have read a decent share of each. I do enjoy a majority of Ultimate Fantastic 4 and the Ultimates- the flagship series that retells the Avengers, influencing the MCU on a positive and negatively influencing the Amazing Spider-man films and the despicable Fant4stic . On the whole though, I’m not a big fan of the series however. While I enjoy what was done with Thor and Hulk, and I can accept that Captain America is much more of a action movie hero, things like Green Goblin being green Hellboy that throws fireballs, Dr Doom emerging as a goat man that lives with hippies, Carnage beginning as Peter Parker,  and Gi-ant Man being a total scumbag just pissed me off. The New 52, while sure as hell not perfect, has come out with cool stories like Aquaman, Batman, Shazam, and some Flash. I do have issues with what they did with some villains like Grodd and Black Adam and I’m not keen on turns in Green Lantern but I feel the stories themselves make up for it better. Either way, neither are bad places to start for new comers to comics. I hope this helps, best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

I Hate Fairyland: Madly ever after (book 1)

i hate fairyland 1

I’m starting this review off by thanking my friend Autobot for getting me this book for my Birthday. I’m a huge fan of Image comics and there stories. I hate Fairyland is essentially the story of every bubbly kid’s fantasy becoming a nightmare. Gerty was a little girl when she was brought to the colorful, wonderful Fairyland by Queen Cloudia and sent on a magical, mystical quest to find a key back to her world with her talking fly companion Larrigon Wentsworth 3 (Larry) and sent off. Well, thirty years later Gerty has gotten pretty pissed and gone a bit mad searching and slaughtering her way to get her escape. While not physically aging, mentally Gerty has become a vulgar, cynical, angry murderer with a itty bitty drinking problem. Cloudia gets enraged finally when Gerty kills her stars and tries like hell to bring the forces of Fairyland to kill the brat for her, even going so far as to recruit Happy, another innocent to finish her off. After getting defeated by Happy and facing the realization she may die in Fairyland, Gerty makes the decision to join forces with the darkest forces of Fairyland to seek her revenge…

I really love this simple revenge story in a very happy, kiddy world. I love the fusion of children’s story archetypes and insane gore. Think God of War in the world of Care Bears. I really enjoyed the writing and art style and the ending is badass. I think it’s definitely worth checking out and I will dig farther into the series as I have with Nailbiter: vol 1 there will be blood , which reviews for volumes 2 and 3 of that series are coming soon. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

HBO Fahrenheit 451 trailer

Fahrenheit 451 is one of those books that inspired me to keep trying to be a writer with a very uneasy dystopian society that has as much gravity in 2018 as it did when the book first debuted. Essentially the government wants to keep society tethered and sedated by cutting there sources of creativity and knowledge, books, with the use of Firemen- police who track down books and burn them. I have to say the tone of the trailer fits the mood I got reading much of the book. Also, I’m glad it has a very talented cast behind; I’m a big fan of Michael B. Jordan (can’t wait to see him in Black Panther.) and Michael Shannon. I’m legitimately pumped for this to hit. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mary Poppins Returns teaser

So as a concerned watcher of films, I have a very real question to ask Disney: was Yondu’s famous “I’m Mary Poppins, yahl,” line from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) a clue Mary Poppins is going to drop into the MCU. Just saying, I’d get a kick out of it. Anyway, so Mary Poppins has returned after a really, really long ass time and I’m not really sure why. I’m not going to trash the idea, but I’m aware of Disney’s old habit of pointless sequels such as Cinderella 2 and 3, Little Mermaid 2, and Lion King 1 1/2. Even Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which many didn’t like to begin with, got Through the Looking Glass which even less liked. The trailer looks fine and I think Emily Blunt can pull the iconic role off. I am genuinely intrigued how this will turn out and I can’t wait for another trailer. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 first impressions

re rev2 pt1

As a horror fan, of course I’m a Resident Evil fan but I can’t say I really played the Revelations games. Friends and fellow fans give them good reviews but I just never played them. Well, I got Episode 1 of Revelations 2 (which the fact the game is episodic kind of pissed me off at first) Playing a decent chunk of the game however, I found quite a lot of things I really liked.

Series veteran Claire Redfield and Moira Burton (daughter of RE alum Barry from the first game) get kidnapped during a fancy fundraiser and taken to a dark, dank, underground prison where some biological experiments have gone on and they have to survive while being surveyed by a raspy voiced watcher.

First I have to say I love the game’s familiar controls just made more fluid; standard controls feel like 4 but made quickened and the partner switching is just as fluid and easy as it was in 0. Aiming is easy and quick but I have felt a bit airy when shooting- like something about shooting gave me a feeling at first like I may have been missing when I wasn’t.  Moira’s part is interesting. She pretty much mans a flashlight and a crowbar, using the light to blind zombies or find hidden items while using the crowbar to defend yourself or Claire. I never found her useless like prior sidekicks and her A.I isn’t brain dead either and vice versa. The monsters I found so far are…well, Resident Evil standard, gooey, gory, and want you dead. Did I find them scary, eh not really but never the less the bastards weren’t paper people either. I get why the story is episodic now but I still wished it was  just one game. In the end, I want to finish it up and enjoy it because I think it will be good. May the gaming gods bring you glory, and dammit no one wants to be a Jill Sandwich.

5 of my favorite Deadpool stories

deadpool movie What can I say, the Merc with a mouth has stolen the hearts of millions since the debut of his movie and that atrocity we don’t talk about in 09, you know what I’m talking about. I picked up Deadpool in late 2013 and have been a fan ever since. Here’s a list of awesome Wade stories I’ve read in no particular order starting with one I already covered…

deadpool vs xforce Deadpool vs X-Force – what can I say, Cable and the X force hunting Deadpool through time so America doesn’t become a tyrannical superpower in the future. Such WTF.

dp draculas guantlet 2. Deadpool: Dracula’s Gauntlet- if you are a fan of horror like myself, this book is for you. Dracula has a job for Deadpool, but than comes a double cross and we get a great WTF story.

night of the living dp 3. Night of the living Deadpool- Deadpool in the modern zombie craze. Zombie fans will eat this story up as we get some pretty funny jokes about the zombie cultural phenomenon as well as a good story.

Dp killstrated  4. Deadpool: Killustrated- I briefly touched on this story during my 5 Marvel stories that hooked me post, being part two of the Deadpool kills trilogy, centering on Deadpool slaying the fictional characters that inspired the Marvel Universe with appearances by such as Moby Dick, the Little Women, Frankenstein’s Monster, and the stories ultimate antagonist, Sherlock Holmes.

dp v carnage 5. Deadpool Vs Carnage- two super powered psychos duke it out like a episode of R rated Looney Tunes. It’s funny, crazy, and bloody. Simple but classic.

I hope you all found this helpful; it’s good to be back. Best wishes and may the gaming gods be with you all.
