PlayStation Now Is The Biggest Gaming Subscription Service, But How?

Recently PushSquare released an article stating that the biggest market share in gaming subscription services ( not counting things such as Xbox Live and PlayStation Plus) inexplicably belonged to PlayStation Now. You can see even more on that from the people that did the research at SuperData. But how can this be accurate? I have used the service, and it isn’t great. Playstation Now is a solid but flawed and overpriced service against a reasonable and useful Gamepass from Microsoft, tho admittedly it PSnow has more games. So how did this happen? Well, let us try to figure this out.

First, there are a couple things we need to get out of the way. In pure sales alone, not accounting for anything else, there is no console war between Sony and Microsoft because Sony has won this generation. This report is a little dated but as you can see here. We can estimate that Xbox has sold around 30 million units while Sony has sold around 70 million. Obviously, both of those numbers have since gone up but seeing as how Sony has over 2-1 on consoles sales we can see that that gap hasn’t closed significantly.

What this means is Sony has a huge advantage in potential customer base for their subscription market. Now this has recently gone up with Microsoft launching Gamepass on PC so this gap will close as time goes on, but for now, the gap exists.(Sony also has theirs available on PC. The price point also matters as market share is determined as a percentage of total sales in an industry. For example, if you were selling candy bars and your class sold 100 bars for $1 and you sold 1 of those candy bars your market share would be  1%.

Gamepass is (rounding up) $10 and Psnow is (again rounding up) $20 you can see Sony only needs to sell 1 to get the same share as 2 of Microsoft. With what can only be described as a huge advantage in potential customers and twice the price point while it seems highly unlikely, this is how Sony has managed to have a higher market share in streaming service. They simply have a larger customer base and price point. This is also why Sony does very little to improve much of what they have, they are making money at an amazing rate and have no reason in their minds to change. Red Dead 2 Online News

Express.co.uk is reporting that Red Dead online will be released by the end of the month as well as info discovered by data miners, such as the ability to inform the law when other players break the law. This, of course, should be taken with a grain of salt as none of this comes from the source, but feel free to click the link and check it out, and if you still haven’t picked this game up I will put some Amazon links at the bottom so you can do so and help us out at the same time. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

From The Creator of Undertale, Deltarune

Gamespot is reporting that the creator of Undertale, Toby Fox, has released a new and free game called Deltarune, tho it does seem that the 2 games are connected as he does specifically tell people that completed Undertale to check the Undertale Twitter account. Either way, it could be worth it for fans to check out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Warcraft 3: Reforged

The big news recently seems to be people are upset about the mobile version of Diablo which hey, I get it. I will probably give it a shot but I get it. For me, however, the huge news is Warcraft 3: Reforged. Why? Because I loved Warcraft 2. Actually, I am probably one of the few that played it on the Original PlayStation. So a remaster of three is exciting. If you want more info check Polygon. Or you can just watch the trailer below. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Breaks Sales Record

To the surprise of nobody anywhere Red Dead 2 sales are off the charts with over 700 million done in the first three days. $725 million to be exact according to Forbes which would make it the biggest opening weekend in entertainment history. Not gaming, entertainment. The biggest opening in entertainment history counting the entire week however belongs to Grand Theft Auto V with over a billion dollars, meaning the 2 biggest launches in entertainment history belong to Rockstar, which is pretty impressive. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Spoilers are Sadly Happening, but not here.

First I feel obligated to say this, this is my opinion on the fact that spoilers are being out there, this is not a place where you will find those spoilers. So if you want those spoilers, keep looking. If you are worried about them, you are safe.

As with all big releases, leaks and spoilers happen. Now to an extent what people count as spoilers is a bit weird and vague, like a map really isn’t a spoiler. It tells you nothing of the story or what happens when you get there, it is just a map. Some generic game play also isn’t a spoiler. Sadly like all other stuff if you know where to look other stuff is being leaked, some of it clearly a joke like ” Arthur kills john” which we know isn’t true. However this trend of ruining big triple A titles really needs to stop, especially considering chances are the ending will most likely be everywhere by the time the game launches, much like the ending to GTAV was. So as always everyone, be kind, don’t ruin the damn game, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

G-Star 2018

Coming up in November is G-Star 2018 in Korea. For those of you like myself that are not familiar with it, here is a link with some info. G-Star. G-star seems to be similar to American E3 with events set up for the press and companies to show off upcoming products as well as having an E-Sports event.

I actually heard about the event when i was asked by a representative of Intragames if i would be attending and if i would be interested in visiting their booth, which sadly for me being in America that really is not a realistic trip for me to be making as much as me and @torstenvblog would have loved to have gone. Mostly I am sharing this so that hopefully others can keep an eye out and learn about another even that features all kinds of games. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Fortnite Season 6

download (5)

Fortnite Season 6 is upon us, and as always it has brought a whole host of new things. The verge  has a more complete list, but this one includes many Halloween style items. It is also aptly named Darkness Rises. The new season also brings a haunted castle.

It is actually kind of strange, I first played Fortnite when it was free to play and well before it really took off. I didn’t much care for it then and I am not a huge fan now, it is just odd to see how huge it has become after these 6 seasons. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Fallout 76 official intro

Unlike many of my friends, I wasn’t getting on the Fallout 76 hype bandwagon, despite being a Bethesda fanboy. After watching the actual intro to the game, the hype hit me like a tidal wave. The intro is powerful and looks beautiful. I want to visit the wastelands again and I’ll rethink visiting Vault 76. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Telltale Games Facing Class Action Lawsuit

download (1)

It hasn’t really been a good week for Telltale games. First their doors get slammed shut and face a ton of backlash for the cancellation of many games and the reveal of their horrible management. Then it comes to light they haven’t always been nice to their employees. So much so that Gamespot and many others are now reporting they are being sued by a former employee in California. The claim is they were required to give 60 days notice prior to closing their doors and clearly failed to do so. If that is true this is a pretty open and shut case and would be more bad news for a financially destroyed company. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
