So during the onslaught of DC trailers, we did get to see the roster for the new Suicide Squad movie. These are not really the A or B list characters like the first movie, but like the C and D list for the most part. While certainly a interesting roster, I’m curious what the finished product will look like, and hopefully it comes together good. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
I was afraid of this…The latest Wonder Woman trailer has a lot to offer but Cheetah immediately makes me think of a Cats 2019 extra gone rabid. I like Barbara’s fight against Diana but something about the effects seem more over the top than the first. While it’s a good trailer, I can’t help but be a little worried. So I’m a huge fan of Suicide Squad comics and when it was revealed the next Rocksteady DC game was going to be a Suicide Squad game, I was pumped…until I saw the trailer. While I like the character cast, something bothers me about the art style, though I admittedly love King Shark’s design. I think the idea of hitting the JLA during there first go is biting off way more than they could chew, like Enchantress from the movie. While we have plenty of time, since it ain’t dropping until 2022, I hope the gameplay kicks ass. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Ok, so this is highly unusual for me because normally I cover books and comics and so on but I never dedicated a whole post to a short story before. Normally I wouldn’t but honestly this story, while roughly 20 pages, kept me thinking for days and haunted my day dreams with lurid imagery and touched a primal fear of mine- machines and man’s ludicrous reliance on them. The story follows the last five humans on earth, after a godlike A.I called Am eradicated humanity. Am keeps these people alive as a sick joke, not allowing them to die, de-evolving them and stomping them deeper into torturous madness and everlasting pain. In such a short package there is a lot of bleak imagery and touchy subjects like suicide, rape, and violence. The writer, Harlan Ellison, has a very simple style which somehow brings the horror of this scenario closer to home and feel more palpable. I really can’t remember the last time a short story intrigued me and left me speechless and inspired and that is the best compliment I can give. I can’t recommend this story enough, especially if you want to write horror or dark sci-fi yourself. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
So because of a string of WTF events in life, I went back to being a full throttle, hardcore Lit nerd for a couple weeks. In those weeks, I got to read somethings off my to-do list, one of which is Joe Hill’s debut novel. Hill is the son of the legendary Stephen King so I was really interested to see if the apple fell far from the tree…
Judas Coyne is a aging rocker with a morbid collection of various things he’s acquired over the years. One day, his assistant finds a online bid for a ghost attached to a dead man’s vintage black suit in a heart shaped box; Jude buys it for giggles, just to have. His young, goth girlfriend laughs too, despite getting pricked by something sharp in the suit. It’s not long before Jude finds validity to his purchase and he’s visited by the owner of the suit, wielding a blade pendulum and X’s replacing his eyes. When Jude demands a refund from the seller, he finds out she has a sinister plot for him after blaming him for the death of her sister, Jude’s previous girlfriend. It’s up to Jude and his girlfriend Georgia to survive the vengeful spirit of a heartbroken step father as they run for there lives, but is there an escape?
I have to give Hill credit, while not perfect I ate this book up. Hill has a easy style that channels hint’s of his father’s earlier work but feels uniquely his own. The story is well paced and there is a good sense of dread throughout. Craddock, the spirit, is a eerie force that feels threatening and works as a good antagonist. My favorite part of the story was Jude and Georgia’s relationship and character arcs throughout the story. What I admit what I didn’t like was the actual end to Craddock, feeling like it came to out of left field and went to too far out to land a happy ending. In the end, it’s a enjoyable book by a good author I can’t wait to read more of that I recommend picking up. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
I don’t know why this movie exists and I don’t know why Deep Blue Sea needed a sequel at all, let alone a trilogy. While not the worst looking shark movie I’ve ever seen, it still doesn’t look as good as the first did 2 decades ago but it could be ok. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
The music sells this game for me. While not he biggest fan of first person horror games where you can’t fight back, the art direction of this looks interesting. For the right price I would check it out. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
We begin with 3 friends living together in Britain, Alex, David, and Juliette who are looking for a new roommate.After a long train of screwing with there new potential roommates at there expense, they find a solid candidate with cash and no questions asked. After not hearing from him for a bit, they bust into his room, finding him dead and naked in bed. While looking for answers, they find a suitcase full of money and they find themselves going down a series of dark paths leading into insanity all in the name of money, finding out you never know who your friends truly are…
28 Days Later is one my favorite movies of all time so I really excited to see this after finding out Danny Boyle directed it. After watching it, I’m not sure how I would define it, skillfully blending elements of suspense, dark comedy, soft horror, and a intriguing twist filled plot. The acting is fantastic on top of some beautiful cinematography and score. This movie did keep me on the edge of my seat and I have to admit, I wasn’t sure where certain characters would end up and I like how the plot keeps moving until the very end. The actors have great chemistry and work great together. I loved the movie and it was a great start to sink into the works of a great director. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone above and beyond expectations and not only brought us iconic representations of legends like Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor but also lesser known characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr Strange, and and Ant-man. With the anticipation growing over Deadpool, the X-men, and Fantastic Four joining the MCU due to the Fox merger with Disney, there is still some characters I can’t wait to see. In no particular order, I’ll start with a pick that many want to forget but are close to my heart…
1. The Inhumans-
Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Triton, Gorgon, Karnak, and Lockjaw play a huge role in the Marvel universe as the first family of Attilan. While ABC failed miserably to give us a show, the Inhumans were originally slotted for a MCU spot. Set in a strange land of strange characters with incredible powers, I’d love to see the royal family join the legion of heroes as well as having Maximus become a formidable foe for our heroes to face.
2. Ms. Marvel-
While Carol Danvers, the original Ms Marvel, is more famous as Captain Marvell, Kamala Khan is a cool replacement. Being a teenage Muslim girl turned superhero after being exposed to the Inhuman creating Terrigan Mist, her origin brings a lot of opportunity for diversity and lore building. With the ability to change shape, density, and stretch to marvelous lengths (yes, I went there) her powers are a good mix amongst those around her.
3. Namor aka the Submariner –
Namor may perhaps be the original comic book anti-hero. The hot headed half Atlantean, half mutant prince of Atlantis has been a hero as well as a villain as the rumor of his first appearance in the MCU being the villain of Black Panther 2. His mutant lineage opens the door for X men and his romantic attachment to Invisible Woman makes him a great F4 side character but he also has plenty of ties to the Avengers, Dr Doom, Dr Strange and the Illuminati.
4. Silver Surfer-
I love the cosmic side of Marvel and with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvell prominent in the MCU, it would be a great time to introduce the powerful herald of Galactus. Surfer can travel between worlds at light speed and has incredible energy and matter manipulation powers as well as a tragic story, being a sorrowful herald to the doom of countless civilizations that fall to Galactus’s wake.
5. Nova-
In the first Guardians movie, we saw the Nova Corps under attack and Infinity War revealed that Thanos laid waste to them for the power stone. That could open the door for the powerful Nova to rise as a new intergalactic protector. Whether as a cohort of the Guardians or Capt. Marvell , it’d be awesome to see Nova soaring through space.

I must say, I adore the artistic style of this trailer and I’d love it if more movies got creative with there trailers like this.
