Day 28,DeathClaw

deathclaw

The post- apocalyptic ruins of America are a dangerous place with the array of raiders, mutants, robots, and creatures- the most terrifying of which is the DeathClaw. What this creature’s origin pre-war is hard to tell, but these are the true apex predators of the Wastes. Incredibly strong with there namesake claws and equally deadly teeth and resist hides, these beasts are as good as a boss battle each encounter and fill you with dread. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 27,The Thing

thing 82

The Thing is one of the most fascinating creatures in horror for the solid fact it has no definite shape. This microscopic organism replicates whatever life it comes into contact with, and as a defense mechanism, it reforms itself into a deadly mix of all the beings it has come into contact with. The Thing is one of the craziest looking things  I’ve seen on screen and has unlimited possibilities when it comes to creativity. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 26, Pennywise

pennywise

There is a terrifying vulnerability that comes from being a kid and well, let’s face it, clowns can be pretty damn creepy to begin with. As long as the town of Derry, Maine has existed there has been a secret threat that feasts on mankind, loving fear and children. This threat is Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Pennywise comes from a race of shape-shifting, psychic spider creatures that grow power from the emotions of there victims, namely fear here. Pennywise was never my favorite until I started reading the book and saw the 2017 remake, but I was hooked. So, are you ready to float?

Day 25, Father Gascoigne

gasciogne

On day 25, we remember that no man, no matter his purity of heart or the righteousness of his deeds, is safe from the darkness completely. Only the strongest may repeal its nature, while the majority fall victim to it’s embrace. Gascoigne was once one of the most loyal and fierce hunters in all of Yharnam and was blessed to have a loving wife and daughter. Gascoigne is a tragic beast who gave in to the power of the blood and became what he fought to destroy. What stuck out about the first true boss of Bloodbourne is his tragic tale and unassuming figure. Make no mistake, he’s extremely strong and he will wreck your ass, even if he is temporarily disarmed by the music box from his little girl, which calls back the man he once was. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 24, ManBearPig

manbearpig

Ok, now I know we like to have a lot of fun on this blog, but this time I’m totally cereal, ManBearPig is out there. YES! I know, it frightens me too. The unfathomable scourge of the world we inhabit is half man, half pig…or maybe half man, half bear-pig? It’s too frightening to comprehend. Thankfully we have a fearless savior against the diabolical machinations of ManBearPig, but remain cautious everyone this Halloween…I’m super cereal.

Day 23, Homunculus

homunculus

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of my favorite animes of all time. These creatures are immortal, nearly indestructible beings created by breaking one of alchemy’s greatest rules: using alchemy to try reviving the dead; or they are the soulless product of the original Homunculus Father if you prefer Brotherhood. Each, named after a sin, has incredible powers ranging from Greed’s unbreakable armor to Envy’s shape-shifting abilities to Lust’s sharp, extendable claws. In Brotherhood, Father is close to god- like, able to use nearly unlimited alchemic power.I love there tragic backgrounds and how, despite there powers, all they mostly want is to have a soul. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 22, The Nemesis

nemesis

In all the years of Resident Evil history, there is one monster that brought the fear and chills than Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis. Nemesis is the ultimate Tyrant tasked with eliminating the S.T.A.R.S members in Raccoon City to contain secret of Umbrella’s involvement. Characterized by his tall, brutish physique, long black coat, and rocket launcher, the Nemesis is a damn near unstoppable foe that only grows stronger after phase of its mutation. Nemesis is the king of every 90’s horror fans nightmares. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 21, Yautja (aka The Predator)

predator

The cosmos is a vast place full of life, and the Yautja are there to fight the fiercest of it. An ancient race of hunters that travel across galaxies in search of trophies and the deadliest prey in the universe. Armed with there signature arm blades, shoulder mounted plasma cannons, spears, razors nets, disks, and cloaking devices, they also have superior strength and infrared sight making them a huge threat. Good luck if a Predator sees you a challenge. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 20, Man-Bat

manbat

So what’s more frightening than a werewolf? How about a man sized vampire bat. Kirk Langstrom was a scientist whose failed experiment turned him into this viscous creature of the night, imbued with super strength, flight, durability, sonar hearing, and a glue like spit as well as a craving for blood. Man-Bat is a underappreciated Batman villain in my opinion and a pretty terrifying, yet simple threat to the denizens of Gotham. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sinister 2

sinister 2

Sinister was one of the very first reviews I ever wrote for this blog and honestly, it was one of my favorite horror movies of this decade. It had good characters and a interesting plot and disturbing silent home movies that actually gave me nightmares the day I saw them. Well, of course, it was going to get a sequel and of course it wasn’t really needed…

Courtney is a mom on the run to rural nowhere with her two young sons Zach and Dylan from there abusive father Clint. Courtney is terrified of her own shadow, Dylan is a nervous wreck, and Zach is aggressive and hungry for the power his father’s terror holds. The boys have made new friends though with the ghost children who took a liking to Dylan, showing him Bughuul’s home movies. The ex deputy from the first is on there tail though, but can he stop history from repeating itself?

I’m afraid to say this is a really inferior sequel to the first in almost every way. While the home movies are creepy, they are now accompanied by stock horror score which seriously cuts there impact down. There are plenty of jump scares now and we get way more Bughuul, who comes off like Slipknot- Slender Man instead of the menacing figure he once was. The ex deputy was the only character who frankly didn’t piss me off and there were some times I ended up laughing at the moments of overacting. The story is pretty bland and predictable with a ending that is just cheesy. I can’t say there isn’t anything worth seeing from this movie that you can’t see on YouTube in less than 5 minutes. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
