Skull and Bones delayed, again.

Yes, you read that right, the upcoming Ubisoft pirate title that is much anticipated is once again delayed, this time until 2020. It also will not be shown at E3 this year as well. This is the 2nd time the game has been delayed by around a year since its reveal in 2017 at E3 and many are starting to wonder if it can even be worth the wait. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Super Cane Magic Zero Release Date

Every so often my good friend Sue Yim from Intragames sends me things to look at and pass along to you, and this time it is a quirky comedy action RPG that can be played co-op, developed by Studio Evil and published by Intragames. While many times humor is a bit odd to translate and this one is just now coming to America and Europe on May 30th the premise itself made me smile a bit. Put simply you and a party of characters will be trying to save the world from a dog that has decided to knock out the worlds internet, cover the moon in chocolate and raise an army of vegetables. It will be released for $24.99  on the Switch and PS4 and is also available in early access on Steam for $19.99 and seems to have very positive reviews. Feel free to check out the trailer below and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Hustle Castle (Mobile)

Hustle Castle lets you build your own castle in a similar way to building a vault in Fallout Shelter. You also collect people for your castle and assign them jobs whether it be in the kitchen or as soldiers to fight for you. You can even toss two adults in a bedroom to get a baby if you want.

The game starts off pretty standard, but it won’t take long to realize you will be tossing a lot of time into it waiting for things to build or tossing a lot of money into it to hurry things along. The game isn’t exactly paid to win, you can play it and proceed without real money, but you are at a distinct disadvantage by doing so. It is a fun little time sink if you just want to mess with something, but expect to be waiting for a lot of things. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Traffic Run (Mobile)

Every so often I see a mobile game and I think, that can not be as stupid as it looks. Enter Traffic Run. A game full of annoying ads that is actually as bad as it looks. You basically hold a spot on the screen (doesn’t really matter where) and the car moves. Your mission is to get from point A to point B without hitting other cars and collecting some coins. This is in no way fun or interesting, and if you crash the game asks you to watch an ad to respawn, or you can just start the mission over. Every so often tho the game makes you watch an ad anyway. Now I understand ad revenue is how they make money, it is a free game and I don’t even disagree with them doing this. But there is a point where they are just ruining any sort of attempt at a game experience, and this game dives right into that area for me. This one is best avoided. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Banner Saga (PS4)

The Banner Saga is one of those games I picked up on sale a long time ago and just ended up in my backlog of games. I actually got this and the 2nd one which I also haven’t played obviously. I have no real reason why I haven’t played it, I have always heard good things and I enjoy tactical RPG’s. So I finally got around to checking this bad boy out and I have to say I wish I did it much sooner. The story is great and involves a sort of Viking mythology only the gods are very real and very dead. They also created a race called the Dredge, specifically to make the Humans and Varl stop fighting to join forces and fight them. This game takes place just before a 3rd great war breaks out, one no human alive remembers but some of the oldest Varl fought in, as nobody actually knows how long they live. The game is interesting and has plenty of twist and turns, but does have its issues.

For starters, the game was designed PC and Mobile phones, and it shows. Even when it released the graphics weren’t that great and the game was short, you can beat it in under 10 hours tho for the price this isn’t a big deal to me, tho it is there. Some aspects of the leveling system also are not very well explained and having to use renown to both level characters and buy supplies and items was an interesting idea and with more renown or making it slightly easier to get maybe would have fixed this, as it stands it is rather annoying more than a challenge.

The game, however, is worth buying. You do have to know going into it tho that it is called a saga for a legitimate reason. The 1st one has a legitimate ending and you won’t really be left hanging, but it is not the end of the story. It carries over into the next game, and while you are perfectly capable of just starting with the 2nd, they are very much connected and the decisions you make in one will carry to part 2. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

After Burner Climax (Mobile)

As we all know I try to check out the Sega Forever games when I get the chance to see how the function. The general idea is you fly a jet and blow up other jets, pretty simple. The sound is pretty much what you would expect from a Sega Genesis game and so are the graphics, but that isn’t why you are here.

Does the game function. The answer is yes, the controls are simple. Your left thumb will control the plane in all directions using the touch screen and your right thumb will control your missiles and guns as well as a slider that can make you go faster or slower. There isn’t really much to the game, but it is good to kill some time with tho, so if you just want a simple game to screw with on the bus this one is worth checking out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Stick Fight The Game

So I am sitting at home and I get a text from my friend Gaming with Noobs shoots me a text and says hey have you heard of this game. So he tells me about it and when I sign into Steam he has sent me a copy. So I send him thanks and check this out and all I can say is, what the hell did I play.

The game is exactly what the name says. You will control a stick figure and control other people that are also stick figures. The game is also physics based, with the objective being mainly to throw people off the side but you can also hit them with boxes, or shoot them with snakes that somehow come from guns or a rocket launcher type device.

The game is simplistic, requiring very few buttons to play. It is also hard to master and is a throwback to when games had one simple goal. To be fun, and that is what this game is, fun. The game has a 9/10 on Steam and with very good reason. It is cheap, easy to learn and is just a good time for all. Definitely check this one out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

More Thoughts on Imperator Rome

So I have decided to do this less as a review and more as a series of post on my thoughts as I play. You can find my first one Imperator Rome First Impressions.

I have bounced around a bit, played a few countries, got killed, started over and finally settled as playing Carthage because I wanted to create New Carthage and destroy Rome. It is probably a pretty standard goal I admit, next I will use Boi to take over a bunch of stuff cuz reasons.

Anyway, I am still having a ton of fun with the game but there are a few things bothering me that others have also brought up. This is mainly the games mana system. You get certain powers such as religion and military and others which let you perform certain actions, and I spend a lot of my time simply waiting for these things to build up. This is by no means a deal breaker, and I get they needed a way to balance things, but maybe they could boost it a bit so I spend less time sitting around waiting.

Aside from that, I really enjoy spending time planning wars, who I want to attack and when, forging new alliances and deciding what I need to trade the most. Changing history is always a good time for me and I can see myself playing this long into the future even tho I know paradox will probably screw us with DLC. A lot of other people have complained that many of the aspects of the game just don’t go deep enough, for example, you can interact with characters like Crusader Kingdoms 2, but not as in depth and by combining so many aspects of games but to a lesser degree you take away from the total experience. For me tho I simply don’t see it. While I can agree where they are coming from the enjoyment is still there and none of it seems overly watered down.

The game is still having bugs fixed tho, and it seems like this will be a bigger process than many expected so it seems like there will be more of these updates. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart and Solitaire into Video Game Hall of Fame

As always it is that time of year for games to be added to the video game hall of fame in Rochester New York. Mortal Kombat and Mario Kart are in for pretty obvious reasons. Both changed an aspect of gaming, but Solitaire is a bit weird for most people. After all, it was just a packaged game that came with most computers. It is also a game that most people know how to play and have played because of it. It made casual players look for other games to play and really brought an entirely new group of people into gaming and for that, I understand why it is there. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
