For the past few months I’ve found myself riding a hardcore DC kick, reading dozens of there comics, trying to duck into the break room at work to catch the latest episode of Flash or Arrow, and drooling over the utter epicness of Conroy as Batman and Hamill’s Joker in Batman the Animated Series. As far as fighting games go, I was a cool fan of the first Injustice game, neither loving nor hating it. The roster was fairly predictable but understandably so; the story was bleak but fitting given Superman’s descent into tyrannical madness after the death of Lois Lane at the hands of the Joker; and gameplay was fine- fun as hell for some characters but DAMN playing as others made your teeth grind, especially the bulky fighters. So what about the sequel? I’m happy to say Injustice 2 drastically improves on the gameplay and brings a much wider variety to the character roster. Combos are more fluid to the touch as well as the characters themselves. Fighters like Bane and Atricitous have there own kind of heavy grace, while Swamp Thing has a longer range to his attacks. Every character has there feeling of individuality which was one of my favorite aspects of the game. The scenery and character designs are stunning and the voice acting and sound is solid. I’m sorry to say I haven’t actually been able to play the game’s story because I don’t own the game (special thanks to my friend Autobot who let me play this much at his house.) but the plot revolves around both dimensions coming under attack by Brainiac and having to come together. The games only flaw I’ve found so far is the new gear system. I haven’t used it personally but I saw glimpses of where it could go wrong with the premier skins that turn characters aesthetically into others without changing there move sets: like Captain Cold can be become Mr. Freeze, and the Flash can be Reverse-Flash. I saw micro transactions for some of the gear available and that bummed me out a lot…In the end, I highly recommend Injustice 2 to any Dc fan and I will post again after each dlc pack. So until next time, may the gaming gods be with you.
Final Fantasy 15, there is a ton to say about it and yet most of it doesn’t need to be said. You play Noctis who basically goes on a road trip with friends on what is essentially a huge bachelor party with monsters. The car basically drives on rails but if you time it right you can steer into traffic a bit but honestly it doesn’t do much. The fighting is pretty fast paced despite only having 3 spells tho they can be combined in various combinations and with other objects to do other stuff.
The story itself is fun and full of adventure as well as a mechanic with some monster um..assets, that plays a rather important role in the game. In usual Final Fantasy fashion the story starts out innocent enough and shortly after all hell break out. Next thing you know your people are dead a kingdom is on fire and of course an evil empire is responsible.
The DLC so far is based on the characters in your party, episode Prompto will be the next release later this month, Admittedly I am waiting to play all the DLC at once, after over 100 hours and collecting the platinum trophy I am a little burnt out nut the 100 hours was pretty amazing, easily the best Final Fantasy since 10 despite chapter 13 being a dumpster fire. All in all I would highly recommend this to any RPG fan, once again thanks for joining me and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
This one is a bit interesting as a game. The basic idea behind this is, as the name implies, you are in charge of the space program on the planet of Kerbal. And yes Kerbal is basically the earth,it even looks like it and has a moon called mun. The goal here is to collect science by building small rockets and sending your kerbals ( essentially people) on trips to various places on Kerbal and into orbit and eventually to the mun and other planets and satellites. This is far harder than it sounds given the at times awkward controls and fairly realistic physics. Building a rocket that flies is pretty simple when its just a quick jump a few miles away but becomes far far more complicated when traveling to space, where you will have to not only deal with wind resistance but the rotation of the planet itself as well as gravity, all of which changes depending on where you are launching from Kerbal, the mun or any of the other bodies in the solar system. And yes your ships can explode killing your kerbals, i once flew one into the sun to see what happens.Pro tip, you burn up long before you get there. as always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
This game for me was long awaited. Finally an 80’s horror game where I simply have to kill everyone or try not to be brutally murdered. But does it live up to the dream? In a word, absolutely. Sure the game does have its issues, for example if its possible I can’t do it, but why can’t these kids jump over a damn fence? And there are definitely some graphical issues when it comes to glitches and camera angles. That being said the game delivers well in the core concept. As Jason you play as an insanely over powered Jason from various movies and use your ability to sense where people are and teleport to their general area, tho it far from perfect on where you get dropped, that is half the fun. You can then use various methods to kill the other players, for example the classic machete or stomping their head into a fire place.
Playing as the counselors is also fun, your job is to escape or kill Jason tho the later option is far harder than it sounds and will require a joint effort from everyone. Other methods of escape include fixing a car or boat by finding the keys, battery and gas hidden throughout the area and you can even call the police, wait for them to arrive then make your way to the exit. This must be done with Jason constantly hunting you and the screams of others are occasionally heard in the distance. Another nice touch is the proximity chat, unless you lose yourself off in a private chat with friends all chat happens when you are close to other players, including Jason. This leads to some interesting things, like being stalked by Jason that is controlled Cleveland from family guy even while he is punching your head off your body. as always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Up until now I have been trying to keep my reviews mostly positive but this time i can not do that. It is moderately fun and pretty simple to start. But the controls are pretty bad, using the same analog stick to not only accelerate but to steer and it simply does not work for this game. Another issue is while the game looks pretty good it is far from impressive which normally isn’t a problem, you will have to either spend a lot of time or lot of money to dig into the impressive amount of customization. There are hundred of items to upgrade and even build your own combat vehicle which sounds amazing, except that people won’t likely ever see or use. After about 10 hours i still haven’t much done anything to improve my very basic truck and guns. This is luckily a free game so there is no harm in trying it, but everyone deserves the warning that unless you feel the need to spend real money or plenty of time on it you won’t see most of the game. As always thanks for joining me and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Pokemon Sun and Moon, the newest installment of the ever lasting hunt to catch them all. I am pretty partial to the series, I’ve played them all since the release of Red and Blue and have enjoyed them all with varying degrees of excitement. I picked up moon shortly after launch and while the graphics are nice as always and the fun of catching new creatures and having what amounts to virtual dog fights with other people never gets old the game quickly felt unfinished. As you progress through a much more story driven adventure than normal, which I loved , you come across a Pokemon Snap style mini game where you are given a camera to take pictures that seems like an add on gimmick instead of a full fledged part of the game. You will also notice gyms have been completely removed and replaced with island challenges that largely feel pointless and just get in the way of story progression. I really think there is room for both the challenges and gyms in the game. The quick and easy training system is also gone and is sorely missed. its still there n a fashion but it also does not feel the same.
Points to the good however is it possible to catch the majority of Pokemon from the series and many of the gym leaders show up in post story play s do Red and Blue from the original game. It is a good game that I’d still recommend picking up, it just feel less like a Pokemon game to me than id like tho many will appreciate the changes. As always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Ok guys and gals, the review today will be short, it is Friday and i am admittedly a but hung over, so please show some mercy on the mistakes.
Most of you already know I am sure that this is a remaster/remake of the PS2 version. there have been some graphical and story updates as well as some music and voice changes.
All that being said if you are at all into the JRPG genre of gaming this one is really a must buy. The story is relatively simple, generic character that doesn’t speak sets out to save the world from evil sorcerer. Now that is an overly simplified version admittedly but i assume around now most of you have stopped reading. There is of course your friend Yangus an ex bandit that helps you because you saved his life, and jumbo jugs, i mean Jessica, that joins you to avenge her murdered brother and Angelo, basically a womanizing Templar with a mild drinking problem. New t the 3ds version tho is 2 characters you could not recruit in the original, Red and Morrie. Now admittedly i have not done so but i eventually will. So that’s it for now, everyone have a great night and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
By now most people that are going to play Bloodborne have done so,so this review is less about convincing people to play and more about the fact that i simply love the game. Put simply its Dark Souls with slightly different play style and story, both are even made by the same people.
The visuals are great and have a run down Victorian vibe to them and are all around dark and dreary which work well for the game itself. Combat is fast paced and mistakes are generally severely punished as would be expected from a soulsborne style game. Various weapons with vastly different play styles are also present, from quick cane and whip style weapons to massive broadsword type weapons. defensively there is only one shield unlike its predecessor Dark Souls and Demon Souls, and admittedly as far as i can tell its pretty much worthless. Instead, and it sounds weird, your defensive weapons are a selection of gun. Timing a shot right will stun or stop most enemies attacks and leave them open for a visceral attack that it will help you immensely to at least become competent with using.
When it comes to difficulty Dark Souls has a reputation as being some of the hardest ( and earlier iterations broken ) games out there, and Bloodborne is no exception. The 2nd boss in the game, which is also the first required boss has made many people put the game down and never pick it back up. I personally know a guy that it took at least a month to beat, and others I have known did it on their first attempt. I wont say its easier or harder than dark souls 2 or 3, but I will say there is still debate over it. I’ve included some more screen shots below, and until next time happy hunting, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
So after spending, some time with the demo i have to say my mind is changed on this one. I didn’t much care one way or the other about this game. Don’t get me wrong, I love Marvel, and i enjoyed Mega man as a kid and love me some Resident Evil, I am just not a fan of fighting games.
First lets get this out of the way, the game looks beautiful on my Ps4 pro running on a 4k T.V. This however is no surprise as both items are designed to do this. i didn’t notice any frame rate dips even when there were explosions and characters everywhere. the explosions looked and sounded amazing as well.
This brings us to the playable characters themselves, and the number you play as in the demo is nice and includes the likes of Mega Man, Thor, Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, Chris Redfield and quite a few others. All of them were smooth and easy to control and feel different enough to make it worth switching between them in the 2 on 2 battles. It i also super easy to pick up and play but it is far from easy to master. My first fight or 2 was basically me smashing button and switching between Mega Man and Captain America, but by the time i was using Thor and Rocket Raccoon i was intentionally using special moves and countering attacks. Now i will openly admit most of you will beat me at basically any fighting game, but there this one is absolutely designed to be played by noobs and seasoned vets alike and very much think we will see a ton of competitive play on this one. So as always thanks for reading, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
This is my first review, and i am going to make this simple. I will give you the typical 1-10 , 1 being basically unplayable, 10 being damn near perfect and 5 as average.
This game is basically what you would expect. Its the creepy tale of Ethan attempting to save is wife Mia that went missing a few years before. Right from the very beginning all hell breaks out, and without to many spoilers its not long before heads are popping and limbs are lost.
Speaking of not long, the game is short, as in a trophy exist for beating it in under 4 hours. With that being said you would be doing yourself a huge disservice by holding that against it. Sure it will only take about 10 hours to finish but those hours will be well spent.
The game however is not perfect, many of the enemies are bullet sponges even for a resident evil game. Most of the enemies do not respawn but later enemies seem to do so randomly which is rather annoying more than anything.
When all is said and done, the game is worth playing for anyone that loves the horror genre or that enjoys puzzles of which there are many. A solid 7 of 10 that i have zero regrets in buying.
