Dude, I’ve never been on the FNAF bandwagon but I’m well aware Hollywood wanted to cash in on the jump scare empire’s success. That being said, this looks a Grindhouse style take on FNAF and strangely I’m intrigued. Nicholas Cage is always fun and this looks a batshit bloodbath and that enough looks like a reason to watch. Here’s a weird fact very few people know about me: I have a heart for musicals. Not all of them and no you won’t see me standing in line for Momma Mia on Broadway, but I love the weird ones. And let’s face it, how many movies are as strange as the Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Brad and Janet are two wholesome young people are newly engaged. After Brad pops the question at the wedding of a mutual friend, they decide to ride off to tell the good news to there mentor and friend, Dr. Everett Scott. As fate would have it though, their car breaks down during a bad storm and the couple wanders to a nearby mansion for assistance. What they find is madness, depravity, sexual awakening, desire, aliens, and the perfect lover. Welcome to the home of Dr. Frank N Furter.
This movie is something everyone should experience at least once, musical fan or not. This movie is fun, absolute batshit but I love it. Tim Curry is a legend if not for anything else, it’s his portrayal of Frank N. Furter. The cast is memorable and the music and dances are infectious. The movie is unexpectedly hilarious and heart felt at times. The only real issue I have is the pacing is off and there are a few parts where the movie feels longer than it should and there is some dragging parts. In the end, while this movie sure as hell ain’t for everybody, I highly recommend and may the gaming gods do the time warp.
Marvel Spider-man: Miles Morales
Six months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-man (PS4) , Peter Parker has taken young Miles Morales as his protégé in web-slinging after demonstrating his new powers. When Peter and MJ go on a job overseas, Miles is left alone as Spiderman, developing new abilities unlike Peter’s, bio-electricity and camouflage. The young hero is quickly drawn into a conflict between the diabolical Roxxon Corporation led by corrupt hipster Simon Krieger and the extremist high tech group The Underground led by the Tinkerer. Can this young hero handle the forces looming against him as well as his new powers as well as trying to be a good friend and son?
I was excited for this game mainly just to learn about Miles Morales. I don’t really know much about him. This game is well written and Miles is a cool character to follow. Gameplay, while similar to the first game, is addictive as hell with Mile’s new powers and gadgets. Honestly, I appreciated the old/new ratio when it came to the gameplay and it stands solid on its own. While the villain roster is way smaller than the first game, the last 2 boss battles are intense both personally and game wise. While the game isn’t overly long and surely I don’t recommend buying it at full price, it’s a lot more satisfying experience than Resident Evil 3 (2020) was. The only huge drawback I had was the glitches- people would randomly appear on the street and rooftops, guys would get stuck in car doors, the textures would get muddy and once my web zip went nuts. While nothing game breaking, these issues do subtract from the experience. In the end, it was a damn good follow up with some small bugs but well worth playing. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Marvel’s What If…trailer
I’m on the fence here. While I think the concept is cool and the animation is surprisingly good, sadly I think I’m starting to get worn out on the MCU. Bit by bit I find myself feeling fatigue for it. The show looks pretty cool and could be a nice addition to the MCU. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Wrong Turn 2021 trailer
Ok, I was never a fan of the original Wrong Turn movies but I respect them for what they were. I must admit though, this new one looks epic for the most part. It might be the creepy music but visually it looks like a huge upgrade. It looks like it could be pretty decent. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Loki trailer
I’m pretty confused what the hell is going on in this trailer and what the hell is supposed to be going in this show. I love Loki but why did he need a show of his own? He had a great arc throughout the MCU. While I’m not the most versed in Thor’s stories, I hope for the best in this series but I can’t say I’m ecited for it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer
I have to admit, Falcon’s Cap suit looks pretty badass in real life. With the exception of WandaVision, I’m actually kind of excited for this show on the account of Zemo’s return. While I love Falcon and Soldier, Zemo is one of my favorite Cap villains. So far the show looks pretty awesome and it’ll be fun to see. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Alien: Covenant (Audiobook)
Of all the Alien stories I could have chosen in my dip into audiobooks, I decided to dive into the novelization of Alien: Covenant by Alan Dean Foster, who is a veteran of novelizing the Alien series. I always wanted to know if the Alien series could translate successfully into the written word and I’m happy to say that where I was hugely let down by Alien: Isolation (audiobook) , the audiobook for Covenant soared. Foster not only brought the story to life but fixed a lot of what was wrong with the movie. In my review, I said a huge problem was the lack of character development and the awkward pacing caused by the content crunched into the timeframe. Another bonus of the different medium is having the extra info and characterization explains some of the seemingly dumber moments rational. Foster also knew to touch up some of the dumber moments like the blood sliding and the “questionable” dialogue during the David/ Walter flute scene. The performance is extremely well done and adds a lot of atmosphere to the story and characters. Overall, I really enjoyed the book, more than the movie in fact and I’d recommend checking the book out if the movie let you down. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
WandaVision trailer 2
Of the 3 Disney+ exclusive MCU shows, WandaVision is the one I’m waiting for the most. After everything we’ve seen, it’s basically the closest the MCU will get to the House of M and frankly I’m glad to see Scarlet Witch get some much needed attention. The show looks interesting and I’m can’t wait for it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Alien: Isolation (audiobook)
So if you’ve been following us for awhile, you’ll know how much of a Alien fan I am. My first dip into Audible was Alien: River of Pain (audio drama) and while it was a fun experience, as a writer I was curious how a novel would read. I chose the novelization of Isolation, curious how the terrifying game translated into literature. For a brief synopsis, check out my review of Alien: Isolation because this is strictly on the book experience. So did it live up to the game?
I’m sorry to say the game excels at being a gem of claustrophobic sci-fi horror while the book spends too much time on side plots and putting too much emphasis on Amanda Ripley’s abandonment issues and sulking nature on her life without Ripley. While I had no issue finding out about Amanda’s drunken step dad, her mom thwarting a mutiny at her last job, or the succession of bullshit and deception Amanda had to go through before that meeting Samuels, I did take issue with how much the book lingers on this and how little I feel was put into the actual story from the game. A few times I felt promise of the game’s terror but it’s either wiped away by a overly long flashback or Amanda starts an internal pity party instead of being truly scared as she was in the game. Also. I didn’t much threat from the Alien but more so the Working Joes. Another vital thing that bothered me was how every chapter ended with a audio log or transcript from the game that were frequently jarring at times. In the end, I just say play the game for a more intense, fulfilling Alien experience. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
