Streets of Rage 2 (Xbox 360)

download (5)

Here we are, Streets of rage 2 and another game in the Sega Vintage Collection and another game that is pretty much a faithful recreation of its original incarnation. We also got the nice feature of having different options on fitting your screen and once again the game sounds and looks like a more crisp version of its original release.

Honestly this is another situation where fans of the original are going to be thrilled to add this to their collection, and people who never had the chance to play are going to want to give this a show while it is free. It is the perfect time to get this game. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Streets of rage is one of those classics and for Xbox One owners this month you can get all 3 for free with the Sega Vintage Collection. The first one is a pretty faithful version of the game. The sound and graphics look and sound like crisper versions of the game people grew up loving and the controls haven’t changed a bit tho it is debatable as to whether or not that is good or bad.

For fans of the original this game is a must have and the fact that it is free makes downloading this a no brainer, and you can do it with full confidence that it is a worthy copy of the game and even comes with multiple options on how it fits the screen. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Super Mega Baseball 2 Xbox One

super mega baseball 2

One of the free games this month on Xbox One is Super Mega Baseball 2. The game isn’t actually what I was expecting, which isn’t a bad thing. The game is clearly not an officially licensed game so all the players and team are fictitious. The game also has a very old-fashioned Sega/SNES arcade style feel to it.

The batting is all done with the A and X buttons with one being for a contact swing and the other being for a power swing. The batting controls function great and at no time did I feel like missing the ball was due to anything other than my own incompetence. The pitching works a bit weird but is easy to get used to. You used the right stick to choose a pitch the use A to throw, as you are winding up you use the left stick to move the pitch to the proper place in to make the ball go where you want. It doesn’t take much getting used to, but it is a bit odd.

All in all the game isn’t bad, but I largely think that could be because I didn’t have to pay for it. The game is fun but it leaves much to be desired. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

A Kingdom for Keflings

download (4)

Every so often my daughter will ask for a game on my Xbox and I will buy it for her because I am a gamer and I understand seeing a game and just wanting to play it. Sometimes I will then play that game myself. Enter A Kingdom for Keflings.

So after seeing her play I start messing around with it, kicking villagers building some stuff because why not. Slowly I start to notice, the game is actually an odd amount of fun. As i start to expand and chop down trees, build houses, see more of these little people show up and build more stuff for them that leads to more things to build I slowly notice that I have in fact built a small kingdom for my Keflings. Now I must admit this game doesn’t have much to it. There isn’t an invading horde coming after you, or really even a reason to build the kingdom except they basically want you to build them one. You are essentially a giant in a world of little people. Their god if you will. And you are just nice enough to help them out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Xbox E3 Plans, For Now.

download

This week we heard a bit from Phil Spencer of and Microsoft plans for E3. He pointed out things do change of course, but for now he said we should be seeing some support for Japanese developers. This would be a nice thing to see as a JRPG fan as they have mostly been missing for the Xbox One. While we have all heard the joke about where are the Xbox games, mostly because of the lack of exclusives. Now we all know the jokes are mostly just that, jokes. However like most jokes there is a bit of truth to them, and this year at E3 Microsoft seems to be taking it a bit more seriously. For more info you can read here.  Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

5 games I Still Haven’t Beat, Yet Again.

download (1)

Awhile back I did a list of 5 games I still hadn’t beat 5 Games I Never beat, But I Need To and I figure it is about time I update the list, partly because I have accomplished  some of it. But I have also added to the list. So without further delay, 5 games I need to beat, again.

download (2)

I really could have put any of the Phantasy Star games except 4 on here honestly, but I put 2 because why not. I love the series, the story is amazing and well done. I just never get the chance to play thru the games. I always say I will get around to it, but if I am being honest with myself I probably won’t.

download (3)

Dragons Dogma is a fun game with a great story and good combat system. It is challenging and rewarding with some cool concepts. There is no reason I shouldn’t have played thru it already except that I have not, and I don’t know why.

download (4)

Romancing Saga 2, that fun JRPG that lets you plau thru the ages to tackle the forces of evil. A true classic in the series. I got nothing on this one either, this game is right up my alley and I enjoy it tremendously. But I don’t find the time to get to the end.

download (5)

I always enjoyed the Resident Evil story line, But the earlier games I could just not sit down and play. The tank controls and the idiotic puzzles just killed it for me. I always tell myself I will sit down and get myself thru it, and I know I need to do it. Some day I hope I can make it.

Darkest Dungeon is a fun game, I never understood why people insist it is so insanely hard tho it is harder than many games. I just always get side tracked and forget about this one. That being said its a fun game with a great art style and is a joy to play.

Thats it, 5 more games I need to beat an hopefully will get around to. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Detroit:Become Human Demo

images

I first saw this movie a while back like everyone else at an E3 and thought hey this looks interesting, and pretty. I didn’t much care about the game tho. It was an interesting concept to be sure, it just didn’t seem like my kind of game. Of course when a demo came out tho, I downloaded that to give it a shot. Kind of our thing here at Savior Gaming right?

So the demo starts off with you walking into a crime scene. I was expecting to talk to a few people talk to the shooter and poof demo over. So I walk in and talk to the guy in charge, and he fills me in. A family android has gone off the deep end and killed some people and taken a girl hostage, my job as Connor, another android, is to save the girl above all else.

This is where my expectations were way off. As I wonder the apartment I must learn about what has taken place, and each new information gives me a better chance at success. From learning the androids name is Daniel to the fact that he was close to the daughter. As you piece the crime back together the situation grows more dangerous and it became time to talk to Daniel.

As you walk out the door Daniel takes a shot at you, but the injury isn’t severe. From here this can play out in many ways. For me I slowly made my way closer, gaining his trust and lying about the gun I had found earlier. I reminded him that this little girl was his friend and they were close and she had done nothing wrong. He just wanted to live after all and I was his only chance. This is when he let his guard down and I took the chance to put a bullet in his dead, freeing the girl and ending the stand-off.

After playing thru you get to see a flow chart of all how things have played out for you and the different paths that can happen, and there are plenty. After playing a few more times I noticed a few pieces of evidence I have missed and could have done differently and I have to admit, after playing the demo I have gone from uninterested in the game, to I will eventually buy this one. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

H1Z1 Hits PlayStation in May

download (1)

As many of you may already know  the free battle royale game H1Z1 hits PS4 next month to the mixed reaction of many. For more specifics on the changes and a video you can look here but we are going to focus on how many people feel. Seeing as how H1Z1 was popular well before Pubg and Fortnight many would think people would be happy to see this getting a jump to console. After all, new players might revitalize the community. The issue is most PC player seem to have lost faith in Daybreak Games to deliver a solid experience to the console after years of let downs on computer. I for one remain skeptical because of how long it took for this to happen at all, but next month will be interesting. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
