Up until now I have been trying to keep my reviews mostly positive but this time i can not do that. It is moderately fun and pretty simple to start. But the controls are pretty bad, using the same analog stick to not only accelerate but to steer and it simply does not work for this game. Another issue is while the game looks pretty good it is far from impressive which normally isn’t a problem, you will have to either spend a lot of time or lot of money to dig into the impressive amount of customization. There are hundred of items to upgrade and even build your own combat vehicle which sounds amazing, except that people won’t likely ever see or use. After about 10 hours i still haven’t much done anything to improve my very basic truck and guns. This is luckily a free game so there is no harm in trying it, but everyone deserves the warning that unless you feel the need to spend real money or plenty of time on it you won’t see most of the game. As always thanks for joining me and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Take Two kills GTA mod
Now for those that are not a PC gamer or simply don’t keep up on news, recently Take-Two has decided to put an end to what is basically a mod that allows for modding of the grand theft auto game, you can learn more here.
I have pretty mixed feelings about this personally even tho it doesn’t have anything to do with me as a console gamer. On one hand i feel like its their property, if they do not want you messing with it that is on them and it’s their right as the owner. Then I start to finish the thought, while all of that is true they did for years allow the modding community to flourish. To suddenly decide they no longer wanted to allow that they have effectively slapped an entire section of their fan base across the face. I don’t know what goes into making a mod, but i imagine it no different from making a video game on any RPG maker or even writing a blog, both of which can take hundreds of hour. That is no small amount of time or dedication, and while games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption will sell regardless but I have to wonder if they aren’t playing a very dangerous games with their PC sales. I suppose we shall see, as always thank you for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Pokemon Sun and Moon review
Pokemon Sun and Moon, the newest installment of the ever lasting hunt to catch them all. I am pretty partial to the series, I’ve played them all since the release of Red and Blue and have enjoyed them all with varying degrees of excitement. I picked up moon shortly after launch and while the graphics are nice as always and the fun of catching new creatures and having what amounts to virtual dog fights with other people never gets old the game quickly felt unfinished. As you progress through a much more story driven adventure than normal, which I loved , you come across a Pokemon Snap style mini game where you are given a camera to take pictures that seems like an add on gimmick instead of a full fledged part of the game. You will also notice gyms have been completely removed and replaced with island challenges that largely feel pointless and just get in the way of story progression. I really think there is room for both the challenges and gyms in the game. The quick and easy training system is also gone and is sorely missed. its still there n a fashion but it also does not feel the same.
Points to the good however is it possible to catch the majority of Pokemon from the series and many of the gym leaders show up in post story play s do Red and Blue from the original game. It is a good game that I’d still recommend picking up, it just feel less like a Pokemon game to me than id like tho many will appreciate the changes. As always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Violence in video games.
Lets be honest for a minute. Violence in games exist, has always existed and will always exist. It has also evolved since the days of the original Mortal Kombat where the “blood” looked like someone spraying a can of paint into the air. I remember my parents giving me a big old hell no to buying it. Of course one faithful day the kid down the street got it, my mom agreed to watch us play a few rounds ad decide. So he comes over, explains the blood code and pops it in then proceeds to kick the crap out of me and rip my Scorpions head off with Sub-Zero. To which my mom laughs and since it was time for a new game anyway buys it for us a few day days later.
Violence comes in many gaming forms however, like the much blamed for stupid peoples actions Grand Theft Auto, of which i have owned pretty much all of.
It has also come a long way from top down killing sprees to banging hookers in the front seat , which in real life never goes so smooth. This series however was the bane of my existence in my time at game top since at least a few times a month i had to explain to some unknowing and lied to parent you indeed were not the cops fighting crime and you could indeed murder the hookers to get your money back, which i imagine is also not so easy in real life.
There is also the good old fashioned lets shoot everyone war games like the 2nd most blamed for everything game, call of duty.
As you may be seeing a pattern, i owned this to, and in case you live under a rock its pretty much a war simulator where people with guns shoot other people with guns and occasionally decide to drop a damn nuke on your head when they are winning by around 80 points just to be a special kind of asshole.
Mario is a different kind of violence, and yes since I am indeed human, i played this to.
Look we all know the drill, you take a plumber and jump on turtles heads. Tho weirdly I have never in my life heard someone blame the game for crushing the family pet while wearing some work boots. Moving on.
This last piece of violence has ended friendships and marriages probably and is probably the only violence in gaming that deserves the bad rep it gets..Yea you nerds know whats coming.
Excuse my language for a moment..fuck this blue shell and the prick that came up with it, may he forever be bare foot and surrounded by legos. For those that haven’t had the pleasure of this eternal torment, basically some person loosing the race gets this and tosses, usually t the last minute, it enters hyper drive and hits the person in first place pretty much stunning them for a few seconds that see like an eternity until they end up somewhere around 6th place while the person that threw it is still losing but laughing like a lunatic.
All that leads me to this, you will hear a ton of terms like ” desensitize” about how violence in video games creates serial killers or some such stuff. the vast majority of us however have both played these games and grew up in a time where you can actually watch a real war on the 6 o’clock news. These things do not create violence, people with mental disorders do. As always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming god bring you glory.
Dragon Quest 8 review 3Ds
Ok guys and gals, the review today will be short, it is Friday and i am admittedly a but hung over, so please show some mercy on the mistakes.
Most of you already know I am sure that this is a remaster/remake of the PS2 version. there have been some graphical and story updates as well as some music and voice changes.
All that being said if you are at all into the JRPG genre of gaming this one is really a must buy. The story is relatively simple, generic character that doesn’t speak sets out to save the world from evil sorcerer. Now that is an overly simplified version admittedly but i assume around now most of you have stopped reading. There is of course your friend Yangus an ex bandit that helps you because you saved his life, and jumbo jugs, i mean Jessica, that joins you to avenge her murdered brother and Angelo, basically a womanizing Templar with a mild drinking problem. New t the 3ds version tho is 2 characters you could not recruit in the original, Red and Morrie. Now admittedly i have not done so but i eventually will. So that’s it for now, everyone have a great night and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Square Enix E3
Square Enix for me was very underwhelming and uninteresting, I actually shut the damn thing off after about 4 hours on day one. That being said there is plenty to talk about, so lets get started.
First is the PlayStation 4 Final Fantasy Dissidia NT, a 3 on 3 fighting game using characters from the Final Fantasy series as whole. At E3 many battles were fought, one of which saw Cloud, Squall and Zidane fight on one team using an assortment of skills and moves that can be switched in and out before battles. While graphically impressive, the battles are about 5 minutes long and seemed rather simplistic and not in a good way.
This next one leaves much to be desired for me as i see it as one of the Worst numbered games in the series, Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age. And yes that name is long as hell , for me the characters were always bland and Vaan may be the worst hero in Final Fantasy history, and from what I have seen and read they haven’t done much to change that.
Next up, Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood. now i have to say i know nothing about the game or any of its add-ons. That being said it looks nice and it does exist. Another game I don’t know much about beyond it seems like a Final Fantasy 15 inspired fishing game is titles Monsters Of The Deep: Final Fantasy 15.
Last but not least is the much anticipated Life is Strange: Before The Storm. Aside from being Episodic and free this month on playstation plus and sitting on my harddrive waiting to be played i do not know much about this one either aside from it is coming. I know horrible research, but really i’m using this to really accentuate the fact that Square Enix was in my humble opinion the absolute worst part of an otherwise solid E3 this year. Maybe if we get some info on the Final Fantasy 7 remake or They announce some sort of 30th anniversary collection for Final Fantasy you are better off just reading a quick recap. With that being said, thanks for joining me and as always, may the gaming gods bring you glory.
BloodBorne review
By now most people that are going to play Bloodborne have done so,so this review is less about convincing people to play and more about the fact that i simply love the game. Put simply its Dark Souls with slightly different play style and story, both are even made by the same people.
The visuals are great and have a run down Victorian vibe to them and are all around dark and dreary which work well for the game itself. Combat is fast paced and mistakes are generally severely punished as would be expected from a soulsborne style game. Various weapons with vastly different play styles are also present, from quick cane and whip style weapons to massive broadsword type weapons. defensively there is only one shield unlike its predecessor Dark Souls and Demon Souls, and admittedly as far as i can tell its pretty much worthless. Instead, and it sounds weird, your defensive weapons are a selection of gun. Timing a shot right will stun or stop most enemies attacks and leave them open for a visceral attack that it will help you immensely to at least become competent with using.
When it comes to difficulty Dark Souls has a reputation as being some of the hardest ( and earlier iterations broken ) games out there, and Bloodborne is no exception. The 2nd boss in the game, which is also the first required boss has made many people put the game down and never pick it back up. I personally know a guy that it took at least a month to beat, and others I have known did it on their first attempt. I wont say its easier or harder than dark souls 2 or 3, but I will say there is still debate over it. I’ve included some more screen shots below, and until next time happy hunting, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Far Cry 5
Once again a Far Cry game seems to have some controversy surrounding it. Far Cry 3 pissed a lot of people off simply because it was a rich white guy in a seemingly African nation shooting black people playing hero. Which hey i understand the sentiment but its a video game. Chill. Far Cry 5 takes place in America, North Montana to be more specific.
The general plot as we know so far is a bat shit crazy Christian cult is basically murdering people and forcibly converting people. For the first time you play a created character that must save the day. Seems like pretty standard game stuff. Good people fight bad people and away we go.
Now here is where the controversy comes in. Many people are now claiming its an attack an Christianity and making white people look evil and some are asking where all the black and Hispanic people are. Well if you care to look up census data and read through it (it sucks) you will see that about 90% of North Montana is white people. Just like when it was pretty much all black people in a nation modeled after Africa. Its called building a believable world.
The biggest flaw to the claim this game is attacking white people and Christians is i personally don’t know any Christians that behave that way. I will even go further and say i don’t know any Americans that act that way, not personally at least tho I’m sure a few exist. At the and of the day if you see this game as an attack on you and your race or religion the problem is not the game, the problem is with you. People in society shouldn’t act the way the people in this game do and the only reason to be offended is either you do behave this way or you want to behave this way, and that is simply wrong either way.
At the end of the day the gaming gods love us all, and we should endeavor to love each other or at least not be a pain in the ass. So as always, thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Nintendo E3
Look, i don’t much know what to say about Nintendo. They came out swinging from the word go. New Kirby game in 2018 that appears to offer plenty of multiplayer fun as well as a new Yoshi’s woolly world which honestly looks amazing. Another huge game offered up with no details beyond its being developed is for the first time there with be a core rpg version of Pokemon will indeed be on the switch, however with nothing to really show with it i think its safe to assume that it is at least a year maybe closer to 2 years away. Now this next statement is 100% opinion and i have ZERO evidence for this, so don’t go spreading this around as fact. It would not surprise me to see some sort of Pokemon go type mechanic to it where if you are far enough away from the docking port new stuff shows up, but again that’s just something I am personally expecting and would like to see,
Another very good-looking game they showed off is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that will be releasing this holiday season as well as Fire Emblem Warriors, another classic Nintendo series many will be excited to see on the switch.
Now as you may have guessed, or been wondering about that huge number 4 up top, a surprise that probably 10 years in the waiting, Metroid Prime 4 is confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch, while there is no official release date for it you can be sure it will be a huge deal when we finally get one. We also know why Nintendo got so pissed over the fan made Metroid game a little while back, turns out Metroid: Samous Returns will be launching September 15th of 2017 which was one of a few surprises after their event ended.
To no surprise at all, new Breath Of The Wild content will also be released, a sort f last man standing mode that eventually will get you an indestructible Master Sword, which I am sure players will love, tho there will be more content beyond that.
Other news included Splatoon 2 coming to switch in July as well as Rocket League this holiday season that will cross play with Steam and Xbox One tho Sony is still hesitant to join which to me is understandable. While id LOVE to play cross-platform (tho i own an xbox anyway) it doesn’t really benefit Sony to join something they started years ago that companies avoided.
Now last but certainly not least was…well let the Trailer speak for itself below.
Yup, that is the new Mario game and I have to be honest, it looks rather weird but at the same time i want to play it. Mario in the real world just seems off to me, but hey I am willing to give it a try. So until next time thanks for reading, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite Demo review
So after spending, some time with the demo i have to say my mind is changed on this one. I didn’t much care one way or the other about this game. Don’t get me wrong, I love Marvel, and i enjoyed Mega man as a kid and love me some Resident Evil, I am just not a fan of fighting games.
First lets get this out of the way, the game looks beautiful on my Ps4 pro running on a 4k T.V. This however is no surprise as both items are designed to do this. i didn’t notice any frame rate dips even when there were explosions and characters everywhere. the explosions looked and sounded amazing as well.
This brings us to the playable characters themselves, and the number you play as in the demo is nice and includes the likes of Mega Man, Thor, Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, Chris Redfield and quite a few others. All of them were smooth and easy to control and feel different enough to make it worth switching between them in the 2 on 2 battles. It i also super easy to pick up and play but it is far from easy to master. My first fight or 2 was basically me smashing button and switching between Mega Man and Captain America, but by the time i was using Thor and Rocket Raccoon i was intentionally using special moves and countering attacks. Now i will openly admit most of you will beat me at basically any fighting game, but there this one is absolutely designed to be played by noobs and seasoned vets alike and very much think we will see a ton of competitive play on this one. So as always thanks for reading, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
