Batman: The Telltale Series

I was a bit skeptical going into this one, first because while I like Batman I wouldn’t consider myself a fan. I can take him or leave him. I enjoyed the 90’s cartoon and the older movies but much of the newer stuff or the comics i’m just kind of meh with. That being said, it was a free game on PSN last month (January) so really what did I have to lose?

The game itself is short, I played through the entire thing in a day while taking care of a one year old. Probably took about 10 hours, so I imagine without the one year old it can be done in about 8. Most Telltale games are short tho to be fair, this one is just a little extra short compared to say Game of Thrones Telltales Review or The walking dead (those reviews are coming soon) But you will be treated to an original story created for this series, and as far as I can find an entirely new villain. The series actually takes an entirely new spin on Batman to an extent seeming to take place in a world before the dark night knows of the Joker and just meets Catwoman. I can see how many long time fans may be turned away by this but for a casual such as myself it is actually very well done and fun to see. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

5 Saddest Deaths in Gaming

The title says it all, this is just my personal list of 5 deaths that just for whatever reason seemed particular sad for me either because emotionally they sucked or because I just felt cheated and as usual, there is no particular order. Also there will obviously be spoilers for at least 5 games.

Thane, Mass effect 2. I know its technically possible to not have him die, but his death is still sad as hell. He is a great character and despite being an assassin you couldn’t really ask for a nicer teammate. He left us far too soon.

Lavitz Slambert The Legend Of Dragoon. Ok what the hell, this is one of the first guys to join your party, quickly becomes one of your characters best friends. You spend a ton of time getting him into fighting shape and BOOM son of a bitch gets killed pretty randomly early on to be replaced by a guy that will have all the same stuff. It is essentially pointless outside of the story, which honestly could have sent the king that joined you back to the castle and left the Lavitz with you and nothing would have changed.

Lee. Ok this dude got screwed. He saves a young girl he doesn’t know after pretty much going to jail on some bullshit he shouldn’t be going to jail for. Gets stuck in the zombie apocalypse and STILL manages to be a decent human being. Gets bit by a zombie while, rescues a little girl from a crazy guy and dies. This was sad on the grounds of him being a great character and it just being unfair.

Aerith Gainsborough. Look we all know she was going to be on the list, we also all know why. Lets just move on.

John Marston. This guy got the shaft. No lube. Forced to work for the government he essentially goes on a sanctioned killing spree across half of America and Mexico to kill his former gang just so the government can gun him down in the end anyway. John must have pissed off a lot of people to get that treatment.

Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition

Any long time followers of the blog know I have a love hate relationship with this game. More on that here Kerbal Space Program. Hardest game for PS4? for the longest time the game was basically broken, and not even in a small way. The only way to really play it was to learn how to manipulate a system that didn’t much work, to the point the company de-listed the game and hired a completely new company to make it. However, how does it stack up? This one will be a bit long if you want a quick is it fixed and good sort of deal, scroll down to the end. If you want the long version where I talk about the PC, the original console version and the enhanced version keep going.

First off, the PC version is the original version and is probably the best version in terms of content. It is further along in development by a bit and has all the mods you can dream of. The controls are nice, the graphics are beautiful and is the definitive version. It also isn’t exactly all that heavy on your computer specs.

The original console version, this thing looked nice but damn was it a broken pile of shit. It would randomly delete your entire game, and not just the one you were working on. All of your save data. The control nodes were kind of like trying to do upper level geometry while drinking whiskey and juggling. Somehow, the game was fun as hell. I played it from the day I bought it until the day the Enhanced version came out.

Kerbal Enhanced Version. I gotta be honest here, this version may be my favorite version. First, I do prefer console games. I love a controller in my hands, tho I do own the PC version. That being said, the enhanced version is far superior to the original. The maneuver nodes work amazing, the ability to switch controls on the fly (pun intended) between rocket and planes in amazing and as always success or failure is just a lot of fun. The Long Dark ( Xbox One)

A plane crash, a cold wasteland. The indomitable will to survive. The Long Dark. What possibly is the hardest survival game ever made. You see there is a sandbox mode with a fun little story mode, but the real fun is in the sandbox.

You will be dropped into the wilderness with some basic supplies and thats it. No tutorial, no hints no map telling you wear to go. Just you, the frozen land of Canada and the wilderness. You will need to quickly find wood for a fire and hopfully some shelter before the cold and exhaustion take hold. After that you will need to find warmth, food and any other supplies you can get your hands on.

There will also be a need to go exploring, since things like a rifle, hatchet and other better things aren’t going to be easy to find. You may need to hide out in a cave, or a small fishing shack, where fishing can also be an option. This is a game that is worth checking out, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sea Of thieves

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer pirate game where you and your friends will attempt to plunder the sea in order to get rich. The game isn’t to far away with a March 20th release date and has some nice graphics. The open world gameplay and focus on players each having a different job and will rely on each is sure to be interesting. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Final Fantasy 12 (PC)

Coming February 1st Final Fantasy 12 will be on Pc and is coming with plenty of new options just for you guys. More on that here .Now I have never hidden the fact that I am not a fan of this particular Final Fantasy game, but for those that haven’t gotten the chance to experience now is your chance. Deceit (PC)

What happens when you have a 6 person team trying to survive, but 2 of them are actually infected monsters with the goal to kill everyone else? You get Deceit, and you get a group so paranoid the smallest misstep will see you shot by your teammates. The 2 infected need to drink blood, and everyone needs to collect items and try to survive. Every so often the lights drop and the mad dash begins to escape to the next area, but sometimes one of the infected might catch someone unaware, and thats when betrayal starts. Sometimes. While trying to figure these things out sometimes people attack the wrong person.

One game I played the team was convinced I was infected. and with only 5 of us left I was killed. The last thing I saw while being shot was the 2 infected transform behind them and attack. It was a beautiful moment of karma. The game isn’t perfect, but it is fun as hell. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Crossing Souls

Crossing Souls is an action adventure game where a group of kids find a powerful object they don’t quite understand, and must traverse two planes of existence to save their town from a government conspiracy. As the trailer shows it borrows heavily from decades of pop culture references and seems quite interesting, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Gravel PS4 (Preview)

Gravel is an upcoming racing game set to release in February and doesn’t focus on one style of racing exactly, there will be dirt tracts as well as sand and standard street style race courses. The game it self looks magnificent and the sound track so far sounds amazing for rock music fans. The race genre isn’t exactly lacking, but this style has left much to be desired for many of its fans and hopefully this will fill that gap nicely. Shiny PS4 (Preview)

Shiny is a rare game in todays world, it is a non violent game of a robot finding a way to harvest energy to save himself and his friends as his planet hurdles towards the sun as they were left behind. This side scrolling adventure actually looks quite charming and cute as the trailer below will convince you of. The company that made it also has a curious name, Garage 227.
