Stop Spoiling Movies

As we enjoy another big movie release, and we just enjoyed another big game release with God of War I have seen another massive amount of people either spoiling these things or complaining about people spoiling it for them. Seriously I have to say. Stop it. Just stop. Now I am not saying never, if a movie has been out awhile feel free to discuss and post about it. If you run a blog or post the ending to a movie that has been out on DVD a few months or years I am not talking to you, you have done nothing wrong.

I am talking to you people who think it is funny or clever to post the ending to movies that come out that day, or even later in the week. You know, the people that blow through a game in a day then post the ending on Facebook. You aren’t funny, you are an asshole. You aren’t only spoiling the movie for fans, tens of thousands of man hours go into making these movies and games. Despite popular belief most of these people that get paid millions legitimately love what they do and want people to enjoy their work, and you are destroying that part of their job.

Don’t get me wrong, I know some people don’t mind spoilers. If your friend says hey whats the ending by all means shoot him a text and tell him. That is between you guys. But if you are the guy posting it on Facebook and spoiling the ending of a movie or game people have waited years to see, you aren’t funny. You are just a shitty human being. So just stop ruining movies and games, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

2 Games I Hope Are At E3, And 1 I stopped Caring About.

With E3 closer than we think, there are a few games I hope are there, some realistic, some not so much and one honestly, I just don’t give a damn about anymore. So let us start with the good stuff.

borderkands 3

Borderlands 3, I enjoyed the first, loved the 2nd and even loved the pre sequel as well as the telltale game. So any info on Borderlands 3 would be great to me as long as it was it was coming relatively soon. This comment will make sense later. And that brings me to…

bloodborne 2

Bloodborne 2, above all I am really hoping we get a release date for this bad boy, or at least confirmation that it is in the works. I loved the first one, in fact I still play it to this day on occasion.The story, the game play itself, the setting, the excitement of finding a new boss, it is just a feeling that is hard to recreate. final fantasy 7 remake

This may surprise many of you. Here is why Final Fantasy 7 retro review What I hope FF7 Remake keeps . I love Final Fantasy 7. The original to this day is one of my all time favorite games. Hell I have probably finished the game damn near 30 times from beginning to end. I for years I was the only person I knew that managed to beat emerald and ruby weapon as a kid. So why don’t I care? Well the rumors started back in 2014, with confirmation coming in 2015. That is 3 years ago, with various amounts of information coming and going. From the initial mistaken of saying it would be episodic ( tho it was later clarified it was meant episodic in the way Final Fantasy 13 was, not in the way Telltale games are) and the battle system going from what was originally its turn based active time system to what seems to be more in line with Kingdom hearts or Final Fantasy 15 it is hard to remain excited for a remake that has so far gutted a game you loved so much. While I understand that a lot will need to be changed and things will be added and removed for various reasons as social norms changing and technological changes and even changes within the gaming community, they seem to be alienating not only the original fan base, but many RPG fans as a whole and just gamers in general. A three-year wait on any concrete information, or much new information at all is simply unacceptable to many of us when a game is officially announced and I can’t find myself caring anymore. Lucifer: Comic Compared to Show

So when the show Lucifer came out I decided it was a cool concept. The devil gets sick of hell, moves to LA, ends up helping the cops. Turned out it was based of a DC comic (and later printed by vertigo comics), but as a guy that wasn’t big on comics I didn’t want to run out and buy a bunch of them I said screw it and just watched the show. The show was pretty awesome, so I decided to read some of the comics. Now clearly there was going to be some fairly large differences. There always is. Now a few seasons in and about 10 comics in here are some of the bigger ones I have come across.

First and foremost, show while not for kids is pretty safe for teens. The comic however is pretty R rated. Not just nudity, but its pretty violent with Neo Nazi skin heads jamming a bottle up a gay mans..well use your imagination.

Another difference is Mazikeen, while in the show is a demon that takes the form of a beautiful young South African woman with insane physical skills, you rarely see her as an actual demon. In the comic however, she wears mask over one side of her face to hide her skull. Her physical skills and combat prowess is still there, and she still kind of misunderstands many social ideas.

Another big one is Amenadiel himself, who may have undergone the biggest change of them all. In the comics he is kind of borderline evil white angel that seems to think he knows exactly what god wants despite what god has said or done in the past. In the show however Amenadiel is a Black angel struggling to please god (father). The 2 characters may as well be 2 different angels all together.

Finally there is Lucifer Morningstar himself. He is also quite a bit different but not as extreme as Amenadiel. Lucifer is still pretty much overconfident and self-centered. But he lives up to the being evil portion more in the comic, in fact he actually manipulates and kills people quite often pretty early in the series.

Both the show and the comics are vastly different, so much so that watching/ reading one won’t really do much to the story of the other. The comic doesn’t even have Lucifer as a detective. Regardless of which one you check out tho, you will enjoy yourself. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Have Movies Changed, or Have We?

Every so often I get into a conversation about how much movies have changed, or even tv shows. Whether it be how the classic Alien holds up better than the new Covenant, or how many of the hold horror movies are scarier than the new ones. But are they really? Or have we as a society simply changed? See the scary part of horror movies really is partly the fear of the unknown. Could something like a Xenomorph exist? Someday will humanity reach out into the starts just to find a creature we can not defeat with our technology that is simply a damn near unstoppable hunter?

The problem becomes what happens when you have seen so much that things no longer seem original? When does the unknown stop being unknown and the unpredictable become predictable? I think that is where we are now with movies. We have reached the point where we have seen most things in horror. Where ghost and monsters used to be enough, for many of us it no longer is. Stories have become predictable not because they aren’t good, but because we have seen so many we now have the experience to predict the next event.

This happens in other genres as well, Star Wars and Star Trek as well. Hell even Professional wrestling many times. Younger fans still see the fun and excitement that many of us miss. I am now starting to think movies haven’t changed, we have. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Pokemon Switch Leaked Image?

Recently an image came out that allegedly is a leaked image of Pokemon for the Nintendo Switch. As always take this with a HUGE grain of salt. I got this from Dreamcast guy over on Twitter when he shared it and obviously he doesn’t know if its real nor does he claim it is. However if it is it really just looks like an up-scaled version of a 3DS game. I am actually pretty ok with that honestly, but many people will probably be disappointed.

My honest opinion tho, this probably is not from the Switch version of the game. I can’t see them not going all out in the long-awaited console version of the main series Pokemon game and I really can’t see this being the only leak to come out. As with every holiday I would like to take the time this morning instead of writing out a review or news to simply say thank you. Thank you for all the time you spend chatting with us and reading our stuff. Today however is a time for family and friends, go enjoy it. Hunt for eggs with the kids, have a beer with your friends ( have one of us as well) or whatever your Easter tradition is. @torstenvblog will be at work and I will be slaving over a stove all day, tho I did invite him to dinner, sadly he can’t make it. 300 (2007)

300

300 is one of those movies that is based on a true story in the sense that Spartans are real, Thermopylae is a real place, the battle is real hell even King Leonidas is a real person. Most of the details tho are pretty much made up for dramatic effect and to sell a movie.

The movie by the way is about 300 Spartans holding the pass of Thermopylae against a massive Persian horde. The action is great and violent, there is the obligatory sex scene, and of course there is the classic scene where arrows block out the sun and they fight in the shade.

All of this are things anyone would know simply from common sense or previews however as solid as the acting is and as action packed as it actually is i have to say, when I first watched the movie I loved it. Watching it again I noticed while I still enjoy it, there isn’t much to the movie. It’s just an action flick with an extremely historically inaccurate story and not much else going on. Even the struggle of the Queen attempting to get reinforcements to the king is just sort of there and in the grand scheme there for the same of being there more than anything else. The movie is fun, but it’s rather empty. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

100 Followers For Savior Gaming

I don’t post too many person things on here outside of the occasional relevant story, but this week Savior Gaming hit 100 followers for the blog which was pretty cool for us, and we would love to thank you all.  Its been a fun and strange road for us with tons of movies watched, games played and even a few books read.

There have also sadly been a few bumps in the road sadly, for example our local movie theater closed so checking out the new movies like we did with Star Wars and Justice League has become a bit of a challenge.  All in all tho it has been a fun ride, and we look forward to the next 100 followers. Great Games With Odd Flaws

Every so often we all play a game that is fun or even great, but it just has a really odd flaw. Not game ruining or anything like that, just enough to be annoying at times or just generally piss us off. Here as just a few I have come across.

dark souls 2

Dark Souls 2, Scholar Of the First Sin.

When I played this game first i hated the game, the hit boxes were trash and the camera angles drove me nuts. Not as bad as the original Dark Souls or even Demon Souls but it was there. Than a friend lent me Bloodborne and SOTFS and the work they did was amazing. But the one odd flaw Dark Souls 2 still has, it seems like the vast majority of the bosses are still hidden. Sure if you look around enough you can still find them, but why would you hide most of the bosses this way? Great game, odd flaw.

Civilization Revolution is an amazing game where you guide you country from helpless nomads to the technological marvels of space travel. Weirdly tho, there is a turn limit. Now you can usually finish off anything you want to do before this becomes an issue but sometimes you will be building a rocket and suddenly you will have 5 turns to finish, suddenly the game ends and that is it. Highest score gets a domination victory.

Fortnight,yea I realize this one will probably get me some shit. The odd flaw in this one is it seems like every game I watch the winner has 1 kill. The person spends the entire gaming hiding or roaming around, shoots 1 maybe 2 people and boom wins. I’ve noticed this same thing happens in PUBG.

Both are perfectly great games in their own rights, I am not bashing either game or any game on this list. But to me these are just very odd flaws. So what are some odd flaws you noticed? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
