Fallout 76

download (1)

Now I wanted to post this last week like everyone else and be like “Oh my god new Fall out oh fuck yea its online iuhfiahihfiahifvafhd freak out”…but I decided you would all read that enough. Yes I did just randomly hit keys up there by the way. Its my blog, I can do that. I decided however to write about other stuff and let everyone else fill you in. By now you know the routine. Leaving vault 76 you will be one of the first outside the vaults, and everyone you see will be a real person. Returning is the ability to build bases, but now you can build them where you want and move them when you choose. There will also be nuclear weapons you can go and grab, then just drop them on your friends. This all sounds great and looks amazing. Especially knowing that unlike most survival games, when you die you never lose progress.

I do have a couple concerns however. You don’t really lose progress in Grand Theft Auto either, but anyone that plays it knows it doesn’t take much for some random person to ruin your day. Are we going to spend 10 or 20 hours building a base just for some jerk to nuke my base and send me back to square one? If so whats the point of building it at all? If nuking a base doesn’t do much, why bother doing it at all? I truly hope they manage a nice middle ground between nuking people serving a purpose and making sure it doesn’t ruin the experience for people.

Another concern I have is the story, they have always been known for story, and will this effect that? Fallout 76 could be amazing, but I do understand why many people are concerned. Personally I am extremely hopeful. An online Fallout is something I have dreamed of, and it is finally coming. May the gaming gods bring it and us glory.

E3 Thoughts

download

With E3 basically over, at least all the major stuff, and having had time to sit down and thought about it I figure I would take some time to sit town and just tell you guys what I thought. First, Bethesda as by far my favorite. I am not saying they had the definitive best conference or anything like that, it was just my personal favorite. They had a great sense of humor with their Skyrim skit and their jokes about Walmart not to mention Rage 2 and Fallout 76 look great.

Microsoft really knocked it out of the park as well, they may have had their best showing in years. It was everything they needed it to be, after years of people screaming where are the games they finally brought some and that was great to see. Tho they are playing pretty fast and loose with the term “exclusive”

EA…oh Ea…I don’t want to say to many negative things here, so I will say this, a Fifa tournament is not the way to end things, and they should be happy Square Enix exist. Speaking of SE, all I can say is that was the equivalent gamer abuse watching that. They wasted 30 minutes of my life and I would like it back.

On to Ubisoft. Serious question, am I the only one that hates For Honor? Of course not, when it came on hundreds of people on Twitch called it a dead game. And now they are legitimately giving the game away on PC. That aside Ubisoft was a fun watch and the new Assassins Creed looks like a lot of fun. The Division 2 has a lot of promise and I can’t wait for Skull and Bones.

Sony and Nintendo will be getting their own little write ups later, but my general feeling coming out of E3 was this may be the best E3 in a long time. Outside of Square Enix there wasn’t really a point I felt a company truly let me down. They were all a lot of fun and had a lot of great stuff coming out, and Square Enix themselves also have great stuff coming like Kingdom Hearts 3 and Dragon Quest 11 so despite their bad conference their games themselves are still promising. I will see you all soon, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Unravel 2

download

Now I don’t have a review for Unravel 2, many people didn’t even know it was coming out. Hell some of you still may not know it is out.  Here is the trailer by the way.

What I actually thought was cool about this was the release date choice. We got to the end of all this the speaker simply says and the game releases today (this was from June 9th) This for me was an odd, yet surprising and awesome choice. This is a game pretty much nobody knew was coming. There was no build or hype and the crowd got pretty excited. We get to the end of the preview and boom, this guy says go home and buy it. More companies I think should do this, sure it may hurt sales initially but I think overall it will even out. What do you guys think? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Xbox at E3 2018

download (1)

So Xbox at its big E3 today, and it started off by making a very bold claim. 50 games, 18 exclusives and a whole bunch of world premieres. For a company that is renowned for having very few exclusives and even less of quality this is a very big claim. Now I didn’t count, but it was over an hour and a half of just games. I marked down a lot of the interesting and big titles, but I will happily assume it was in the ballpark.

We got some big ones, Halo Infinity, 3 new Gears of Wars games, possibly the most random game announced in years with Battletoads, the reveal of Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This was possibly the most game staked conference in years if not ever. There was nothing ground breaking or that will change the landscape of gaming, but I have to say unless Nintendo or Sony has something MASSIVE to reveal, Xbox has this E3 in the bag. Best wishes and may the gaming…Oh yea, and at the last possible moment, as Phil Spencer was saying good-bye the lights dropped, and Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed. Gaming gods bring you glory.

Command & Conquer Rivals (Mobile)

download

Command & Conquer Rivals is a new C&C for the more modern era, and by that I mean it’s for mobile. Being shown at E3 actually upset a few people since cellphone games usually aren’t shown at the event. For a more in-depth explanation for why you will see more of it tho, look here. Are Mobile Game Players Gamers?

As for what the game is, well its C&C. You gather resources and fight over a Nuclear missile in the center of the map. Whoever controls 2 of the 3 spots when the meter fills up shoots the enemy base, whoever hits the enemy base twice wins. Pretty simple concept really. The game will be available on IOS and Android but to my knowledge is currently only available in pre-alpha on Android. The game is fun but does have its issues. While feeling decently like C&C they make it a point to tell you that for now there are no in-game purchases, meaning the full game will have some.

You do occasionally win boxes with money and troops, and it is a save assumption these are what you can buy. If that is the case, this is clearly going to be a pay to win mobile game from EA. To make matters worse, at least for now the game seems to be nothing but PVP with no way to practice or even grind for stuff. The game however is fun and easy to get into. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Survivors Guide To Prison (2017)

images (2)

This isn’t actually a movie, it’s a documentary. It follows the struggle of innocent men sent to jail for crimes they clearly didn’t commit, but were charged and found guilty with anyway and how they eventually were set free. This happens far more often that you would think, but rarely do people ever get out.

The movie also gives tips for if you find yourself in this situation, such as getting a good lawyer, not discussing your case with other inmates or assuming any of them are your friends and remaining silent because much of it will be used against you and twisted by many. All of this is very good advice and actually the same advice any lawyer would give you.

The movie has a lot of information, far too much for me to pass along without this post being thousands of words long. If you are simply interested in the cases followed they are Bruce Lisker and Reggie Cole but I do recommend checking this out. It was an interesting and somewhat emotional watch with some valid points that many people may be unaware of, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Super Monkey Ball Sakura Edition

images (1)

So another mobile game from the Sega line of games has come, and this one is a bit strange. In fact this one doesn’t even have a controller. The game is actually played by shifting your cell phone to go backwards and forwards or side to side, and it functions very well. It does take a bit to get used to tho.  Graphically and sound its nice however, maybe better than all the others of the Sega mobile games.

The game itself is about rolling balls around, with monkeys in them, to get around courses and collect bananas. The game is quite fun and if you are a fan of the Super Monkey Ball series definitely grab this game. Most people however probably won’t want to start here tho. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Larvitar Day Pokemon Go

download (1)

On June 16th Pokemom Go will have its monthly community day, this month with Larvitar. I normally don’t get involved in them as i am what you would call a casual, despite having been playing since day one. In fact at the Charmander event i caught my first legendary (Zapdos). However I did learn a few things.

First, you are going to want a few pokeballs before the event starts. the last thing you want is to run out and be hoping to hit another pokestop or that it recharges before the next one appears. Second, try to have a couple of lures or incense. The idea here is to catch as many as possible as fast as possible. You will need to catch a lot to evolve it, not to mention you may want to evolve more than one, with so many floating around you will probably catch a couple shiny pokemon.

Third, have some sort of plan. Don’t just wonder around. Go to some place where you know there are stops, bring a drink and have some fun. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

E3 Sony Prediction

With E3 coming and Sony recently saying the PlayStation 4 was coming to end of its life cycle it occurred to me how I would play this years E3 event. See on top of the admitting this is the end of the PlayStation 4 life cycle they also took the time to specifically tell everyone there would be no new hardware. This seems like a very odd choice of events, tell everyone no new hardware then point out it’s the end of a life cycle for your console at the same time system sales are slowing down? See this is simple math really, there is only so many people in the world that want to buy a system and the PS4 is reaching the point that all the people who want one, have one. I know this, the people reading this know that, and Sony knows this.

This brings me to what I think Sony will do at E3 this year. Picture this, new games, and new exclusives.  Maybe some Bloodborne 2 or Last of us 2. Some games that will really bring out the last few people who will buy the console and push some sales. And as the show ends and goes dark we get our first sight of what will be the official PlayStation 5 logo.

To me this will probably be the last E3 that we only see PS4 games with next year being about the PS5 before its launch in the 2019 holiday season. That however is just my opinion, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Thanos Not the Villain?

thanos

Ok before we go any further I have to be really up front. There will be spoilers for Infinity Wars in this posting. Like massive spoilers, if you have not seen the movie this post is not for you. I can not stress this enough, I will be spoiling various major parts of the movie including major plot points and the ending to the movie. Do not read this unless you have seen the movie. Last chance to back up and come back later.

Ok I assume if you are still reading you have read the title and thought this dude is nuts, and have seen the movie. Let me preface this by saying I am not condoning the actions of Thanos, but maybe he isn’t as evil as we think. I actually heard someone say he was basically space Hitler, but Hitler was just an evil dick that thought an entire race of people were inferior. Thanos however, well we will get to that. Lets take this one step at a time

First let’s get his motive out-of-the-way first. There is no way around this, he wants to get rid of half the universes population. That is his actual reason for wanting the stones. Now knowing that instinctively you are going to want to say well case closed. Homeboy is evil as evil gets. Keep that initial thought on the back burner tho and lets move on.

Thanos is one of the last remaining of his race after his home world Titan died out from over population, something he predicted would happen, and he actually knew how to solve but nobody would listen. Yes his way of solving it was pretty brutal but it would have saved his planet and the race. His solution was to randomly select half the population to be out to death, regardless of age, wealth or any other status. Because of their refusal to listen however they are all gone.

It is a well-known and undeniable fact that resources on every planet in the galaxy are in fact finite and will eventually run out, regardless of technological advances. Thanos simply wants to rid the universe of half its life to make sure the rest of life can survive.

Think of this on a small-scale. If you have a small farm that can grow enough food to feed 5 people at a time but you have 10 it won’t take long for you to run out of food and everyone will die. However if you kill half of them everyone can live as the farm is capable of supporting everyone. This is what Thanos intends to do. Make sure the farm can feed everyone, tho in this case the farm is the universe.

Now clearly there are some flaws in the plan. For example clearly every planet does not need such treatment. Earth at the time the movie takes place did not need this, tho Titan obviously did. Gamora’s home planet may not have but Thanos hints that it is doing better since than, but clearly knowhere did not need it and neither did Asgard. Also theoretically if the power of the stones could wipe out half the life in the universe as Thanos did at the end of the movie it should be able to create enough resources to sustain life indefinitely as well, after all they did help create the universe.

At the end of the day however, Thanos isn’t truly evil or even a bad guy. He simply disagrees on what the best way to sustain life in the universe actually is. After all there is plenty of evidence that over population is a problem on numerous planets in the Marvel universe is an issue. What do you guys think? Best wishes and ,may the gaming gods bring you glory.
