Trials Rising Open Beta (PS4)

I have an odd history with the Trials games. I never played them, and never cared to play them. Sometime last year Trails fusion was given out for free on PSN so I figured hell, let’s give it a shot. The truth is I enjoyed it, loved it at times and hated it at others. The constant decisions of do I floor it and go full speed ahead or do I ease up and go slow and steady? Is this the time to front flip or backflip or not flip at all? It was a thrill I wasn’t expecting, so when Trials Rising was announced I was pretty interested.

After spending a few hours with the open beta I have to say the magic is still there, and the addition of the tandem bikes is an interesting one, I personally don’t enjoy it but I can see how many will. The issue is for me that it is still just a Trials game. If you played one you pretty much played the other. Did you like Trials Fusion, you will probably like this one and if you hated the other this probably won’t change it. Also yes there does seem to be cosmetic loot boxes tho you get them whenever you level up anyway. The full release tho is on my buy list. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Good Company (PC Preview)

Good Company is a management simulator that will be coming to early access this summer on PC. The idea is to build your first product, sell it and build up until you can hire and train new employees and grow until you are a massive industry in your own right. There is a trailer out and the game looks and sounds pretty interesting, and I hope to have more info soon. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Devil May Cry 5 Demo (PS4)

The Devil May Cry 5 demo is a mixed bag for me. It is beautiful, it controls amazingly and has some of the most stunning sounds I have heard in a game in a long time. My issue is honestly, the combat was just boring for me. You can get your rank higher by doing some amazing combos with different combinations or, you can just mash buttons and kill everything that way. Many times your combo will still get up there pretty high. Granted I have no reason to think the main game won’t provide more of a challenge, but even the devil breaker didn’t make me feel like I needed to use it that much to win.

It also felt like they were trying way too hard to make Nero this indomitable badass and he came off like that kid in high school everyone knew was just talking tough when he really wasn’t half of what he thought he was.

While I have no interest in this game any more than I have already played it, I do think fans of the series will love it, possibly more than any game in the series before it and it will attract many new fans. For me personally tho, this isn’t one I will be buying. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Stellaris Console Comes in February.

For fans of grand strategy games that happen to be console only players, we seem to finally have a release date for Stellaris on the PS4 and Xbox consoles. February 26th to be exact. For more of the details check out Polygon. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Breach (Pc)

After playing a bit of the Alpha over the weekend that @Playbreach told me about over on Twitter I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. To be up front, we all know I am not big on these types of games. You can find out all sorts of things on their website here. The game starts out with a pretty simple tutorial and character creator. The controls are the standard, mouse to look around and WSAD to move. It functions like you would expect, tho admittedly there was some lag which I believe was caused by my laptop not quite being up to snuff.

The video shows pretty well what it is. Honestly, after playing it, I enjoy it pretty well. Admittedly the character choices and their abilities aren’t anything you haven’t seen before. Breach in no way reinvents the wheel, but it doesn’t need to. It is fun, and each level gives you something to do and new enjoyment to find, and that is all you need. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Resident Evil 2 Demo

30 minutes isn’t a ton of time to play a demo, but it is more than enough to get a feel for what this game will be. What it will be is a Resident Evil game. Having played the Dreamcast version of the game and not this demo I can honestly say I am looking forward to it. From the who the hell thought of these puzzles to the for the love of god where the hell did all my ammo go, the game is classic Resident Evil. At least the first 30 minutes are. I found the get to a door in the entry was all the way up on the upper floor for example.

Graphically the game looks amazing, the pictures in this I snapped in the game on my PS4 pro.

All in all the demo is pretty solid, tho, while I understand the limiting the demo time as opposed to a checkpoint, was rather annoying. It would have been nice to have been able to take my time and just look around. Regardless, go have fun with it and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Rain World v1.7 Arriving For Nintendo Switch — STUBBORN| FUTURE OF MOBILE GAMING

The game is finally releasing for Nintendo Switch. Rain World is a survival platformer video game initially launched in 2017 in which the player has to control a part-slug, part-cat creature searching for a hostile, derelict world for its family. The slugcat ebris as the weapons to escape the area of randomized enemies, forage for […]

A pretty great article from a friend. Good to see the Switch getting some love with Rainworld.

Left Alive: Gameplay Trailer

After what feels like months of waiting, we finally have a gameplay trailer for left alive, and honestly it kind of looks like The Division.

I don’t mean that as an insult by any means. Graphically it looks beautiful and I love any game that allows me to make choices that matter tho admittedly it makes me realize why I shouldn’t be allowed to make choices in the real world. I am a bit worried the game will primarily be escort missions involving getting people to shelters but I suppose in a few months we will find out. Until then enjoy the trailer, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The 7th Guest: The Board Game

The 7th Guest was a PC game originally released back in 1993, which you can still purchase over on Steam believe it or not. It has some mixed reviews but overall it seems solid enough and tells the story of, quite simply a mansion full of puzzles and toys. You will attempt to spend one full night there and the winner gets their hearts most secret desire. Their Kickstarter page has a ton more info.

This is where the board game comes in. It is for 2-6 players (ages 12 and up) and can take one to 5 hours depending on the rules you play with. This seems pretty cool because sometimes honestly I am playing with my friends while having a few drinks and we just want something to do while having fun. We want something to do for 4 or 5 hours. Other times I am playing with my kids and they do not always have a huge attention span so 1 or 2 hours is great.

The game itself is largely puzzles and logic test for you to solve to advance which the other players can steal ( and you can steal theirs) This all sounds pretty simple but of course, nothing in life is. There seems to be some twist and turns such as spaces that will toss you someplace else or force you to unlock extra rooms on your way to the exit.

A good sign in all this is the game is actually being created by people like Rob Landeros and Charlie McHenry, the people that founded Trilobyte games and created the original game, so if you happen to be a fan of the game and are worried this will deviate too far from your beloved 90’s memory I don’t see that being an issue. They even started to design the game from the ground up around the original map of the PC title. I have spoken to them and it looks like the game will be shipping in January so as you can see I am finding out about this a bit late. Savior Gaming doesn’t even normally cover board games, but this one just seemed pretty cool and I decided to share it with you guys. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
