The Last of us 2

Just in case you have been living in a cave these last few weeks, I am going to go the opposite way and show the trailer first which is the opposite of what I normally do.

There we go, now we are all caught up. Or not, I can prove you actually watched an over 10 minute video. But the The Last of us 2 isn’t without some controversy. First and to a minor scale, many people have claimed the game play was scripted or even in more extreme cases completely fake. I can buy scripted, because let’s be honestly nobody wants an E3 catastrophe. Fake? That is pretty unlikely considering the backlash they would face when caught, and they would get caught.

The other controversy, people are pissed off, that Ellie is a lesbian. Just like she was clearly was in the last game. Seriously were these people not paying attention, and this is especially true if you played the DLC, she had what amounts to a post apocalypse date with the girl right before she ends up infected.

The game looks amazing by the way, The story of the first seems to be carrying over nicely into the second. Ellie has grown up and her combat skills have aged to fit into her more adult frame. No longer does she struggle to do simple things, yet she clearly isn’t some super human woman either which I like. Tho admittedly the game isn’t exactly realistic either, but hey the game isn’t realistic to begin with, look at what you fight. Either way what are your thoughts? Kingdom Hearts 3

The time is almost here, Kingdom Hearts 3 will release January 29th 2019. People seem to be really excited. Maybe its the long wait, or the amazing graphics. Regardless Sora, Goofy and that useless bastard Donald are back, and hopefully he has learned how to heal people on time. I have my doubts tho. There seems to be a lot of new features and new worlds this time around, the new worlds have me excited the new weapons not so much. I am open to it being pretty cool, but the idea of the Keyblade transforming into other weapons doesn’t quite have me sold. Either way finally we have some answers, some game play and not long to wait. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

StarCraft (Retro Review)

Oh StarCraft, you make me feel so damn old. I remember playing you to the early hours of the morning. Both on PC and the Nintendo 64. Hell me and a friend figured out it was possible on the N64 to build 36 nukes as the Terran then pretty much fill the screen with their explosions. It was a good time for all. I mean not the place you dropped them, that was dead. The game itself is a real-time strategy game where you build troops as one of 3 very distinct races, the humans known as Terran, the insect like Zerg or the technologically superior Protoss. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses so pick your poison and practice away, I always liked the Protoss personally.

The game is amazing and to this day has a heavy online community even in multiplayer, tho most people have moved on to Starcraft 2 or the Remaster of the original. You can play the original for free however, and there is no reason not to at least try it out. the game still is a lot of fun if not graphically  inferior to look at, I mean it is about 20 years old. It is still fun to play and not bad to look at compared to many games from its time, and its easy to see why all these years later it is still big online. Jurassic Park Evolution Review

See that sleeping T-Rex? That is my first T-Rex, Rexy. Cute lil guy isn’t he? He decided to go for a walk because he didn’t like his specially made area and eat people. So I make him take a nap, took a picture and put him back. He was apparently really pissed off about the lack of trees in his fenced in area. So I put more trees in there and woke him up. He busted out again and ate more people. Now he was mad about way to many trees. This happened 2 more times before I sold Rexy. I don’t know who the hell I sold him to, but I sold him.

This is the kind of thing that happens, Dinos break out occasionally and kill your guest for weird reasons. It was actually part of the fun. All the dinosaurs look amazing and go about their days and have things they like and dislike, and if they are unhappy long enough they break out. I still haven’t kept a T-Rex happy enough to stay in his cage. The game is a blast but has plenty of issues. For example until you create one of these beast you really have no way of knowing what it wants in its pen.

There also isn’t much of a way of knowing what it will or won’t live with or how many it wants in its pack. For example some carnivores want a few to play with. Others simply want to live alone or don’t have a preference. Some herbivores will panic and try to escape almost immediately without others of its kind around. Some species also simply don’t get along, raptors for example seem to hate everything.

I also have no idea why if you help 1 of the 3 factions more than the other ( security, entertainment or science) the other 2 might start sabotaging you by giving dinosaurs random illnesses or shutting off your power. It makes very little sense that people who work in your park for you and will die themselves would sabotage their own stuff.

Minor issues aside the game is a lot of fun, tho I do wish I had the option to run the sandbox island with the money on or off. It’s cool to just build whatever I want however I want,but for me part of the fun is setting up a successful part, and with unlimited funding that is pretty much kills that possibility. Is the game worth buying tho? Well yes and no. If you love sim and business management games, this is a fun game that fills a spot like nothing else. It will also appeal to dinosaur and Jurassic Park fans. For most people however, definitely wait for a sale. A solid 7.5 our of 10. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Super Smash Brothers (Switch)

Admittedly I am not a huge fan of this series, and I think it’s because the fan base annoys me to no end. The game is fun but I have spent years listening to fans claim it was the greatest fighting game of all time while simultaneously listening to them slam each iteration for any number of reasons from the characters to the controls, the lack of Gamecube controller. You name it there was always something. The game is however fun and unpredictable.

I won’t bother the usual showing you guys the video from E3 tho, by now either you have seen it, or you won’t bother watching it because it is long as hell. So I will just touch some of the highlights that I thought were impressive. First, they are all here. Every character that has ever been in the game as DLC or just part of the game is now a playable character, and so is Ridley. This is amazing and something fans have been wanting, and yes there are new characters as well.

Another great thing fans have been crying for, and I do mean crying, is they can now use a Gamecube controller. That can now also be checked of their wishlist, and honestly I don’t think people realize the significance of this. I doubt they gave smash fans an entire controller for themselves. I think we will now see Gamecube games on the Switch. Just my thoughts. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Quiet Man (Preview)

The quiet man is an interesting concept to say the least. According to the press release from Square Enix “THE QUIET MAN takes players beyond sound and words to deliver an immersive story-driven cinematic action experience, which players can complete in one sitting, seamlessly blending high-production live action, realistic CG and pulse-pounding action gameplay.”

Now this all sounds pretty cool, but at the same time, this could be pretty awful. We have seen games like this before turn out pretty bad when they try to blend real life stuff into game play. Tho the reveal trailer (below) was pretty damn amazing. It will release on Steam and PlayStation 4 in 2019. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Jump Force

Jump Force is a Shonen Jump fans wet dream come true. An evil force, and all their favorite characters unite to fight it. I won’t lie, I am I huge dragon ball fan. Loved everything from The original thru super. This game however to me, just doesn’t need to exist. But I see why it does, there is money in it. And that is honestly all this is, one huge cash grab. I have heard these arguments before, who would win in a fight X character or Y character, and if you go into most comic book stores they will happily explain to you why one or 2 people in this game will probably kill everyone else no issue. But, that being said it looks good, and will most likely play beautifully and at the end of the day that is all the fans will care about, and if there is a beta, I will sign up. Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4, what can be said about this series that can’t be said about this series that can’t be summed up with the fact that I have shot cows up into the air for half an hour for the fun of it. I have waited for bikers to drive by and stuck them to buildings. Why?  I don’t really know. See when you give gamers the option to do basically whatever they want, gamers will do the most random things they can think of. Yes we will do the story, but we will do other insane stuff to.

This brings me to Just Cause 4. They have now given us bigger and better ways to do all the messed up things we have all loved to do. Tho they seem to have gone above and beyond in certain areas. The game looks beautiful, as expected, but now we have weather. I know, lots of games have weather. However now we have things like a tornado ripping buildings apart and not just small scale. This is something you can no use to your advantage, just don’t be flying anywhere near it because apparently you will get sucked in. Of course there is a video, and it is below. Black Desert

Black Desert made its showing at E3 for the Xbox one. Here is that beautiful trailer.

And make no mistake, it does look beautiful. But no need to fear Playstation fans, it isn’t likely to be an Xbox exclusive, at least not for long, as at one point at least there was a PS4 version being worked on. For more details on that and the number of players check polygon.

The other thing to point out is if you look up many of the reviews, they aren’t that great. For example on steam its at about 6/10 and metacritic puts it at a 73 and 7.3. Now to down a game before it comes out, but the game is already out for a fairly substantial amount of time. Is isn’t unreasonable to assume this won’t get any better and there isn’t much reason to get excited about it. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
