Citizens of Earth (PS4)

download (1).jpg

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to run around as a nitwit Vice President, recruit other people and make them do weird stuff like beat up stop signs and crabs with road cones on their heads? No? I didn’t either. However with Citizens of Earth you can find out.

That is the main premise of this game, you are the Vice President of Earth, home on vacation after winning the election. When your mom, brother and yourself decide to go for coffee and run into a protest you quickly run into some weird stuff, not the protest that actually makes sense. Your character is a complete idiot, nobody understands how you won including the gardener of your office.

The story is fun and the enemies are strange, such as a deer with a telephone on its head. The game is silly, and it never tries to take itself as anything else. The turn based battle system is pretty basic and can be repetitive and most of the 40 characters really are just there, but are all pretty viable in use. In fact most of the game seems to be spent just recruiting them. There is a demo available that is free to try that I recommend you try, if you like the demo you will like the game. That is essentially what the game is with no real variation, I myself enjoyed it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Black Ops 4: Single Player Dead, Battle Royale Mode Alive

download

Treyarch has officially confirmed what has long since been rumored, on October 12th Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will release with no single player mode, but will have a Battle Royale mode called Blackout tho Mark Lamia, Treyarch Chairman, said they are “weaving narrative into each of the modes.” The other 2 modes of course being multiplayer and zombie. While many people are upset by this many others seem to be quite excited. I for one however will not be buying this one. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Game Dev Tycoon (Mobile/PC)

game dev tycoon

Every so often a friend will say hey savior give this game a shot, so I will drop a few bucks on it and I will. Game Dev Tycoon is on of those games. The game is actually pretty much what it sounds like. For $5 on your cell phone you can run a small gaming company that designs an sells, well games. You start in a garage alone back in the 80’s pick a couple basic options to genres and attempt to grow from there. As you grow and get better you can get an office and more employees, research new genres and even make your own game engine. You can also do what I did and run Savior Gaming into the ground. More than once.  The game is actually a lot more fun than I expected, especially for the price point it is at. Good for on the go and waiting around or even if you want a more long-term experience, tho it did kill my battery a bit. This one is definitely Savior approved tho.  Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Jurassic World Evolution Update

images (1)

As we get closer to the release of Jurassic World evolution on June 12th 2018, we are getting more and more info such as more dinosaurs and even some hints at the story. For example things will play out differently depending on which side you work more closely such as security for example. They all have their own preference on how they think you should do things, security for example wants you to do things to up the safety of the park, but do they have an ulterior motive? Of course Ian Malcolm is his usual self and doesn’t like or trust any of this, but he doesn’t really want to leave the dinosaurs themselves since he both loves and fears them. And yes he is voiced by Jeff Goldblum himself. If you are curious about how the game looks ( beautiful by the way) you can see the first 20 minutes and a more detailed explanation below from IGN.

Honestly this is one of the games I have been most looking forward too, and the more I see the more I can’t wait to play it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Phantasy Star Series

images

Every so often a series will catch your heart for various reasons, usually as a kid. For me those games were Shining Force 2 and Phantasy Star 4. That being said I was able to play many of the Shining Force games but as a kid, I was limited to Phantasy Star 4. See the internet wasn’t much of a thing yet so I was limited to what I could find and afford locally, and the Phantasy Star games simply were not in the cards for me. Once day through the power of the Sega Channel I was able to play Phantasy Star 3. Yes I will back up a step. At one point in the 90’s, way before Netflix and Xbox life and Gamepass Sega had a monthly gaming service called Sega Channel

download (2)

It worked through your cable hooked into your Sega Genesis and you could play a bunch of games as much as you wanted that month. Yea it was PlayStation Now/Gamepass about 20 years before they existed. Ok history lesson over.

The issue was in the time I had to play back in 1994 or so between being 10 and having homework and school and such I couldn’t beat the game then of course the game went off the channel. It would be years before I was able to play it again or Phantasy Star 2. In fact the next game in the series I would play is Phantasy Star Online, great games in their own right.

It would be years more before I would finally play the original Phantasy Star, and it pains me to say I have never beat any of the numbered series except number 4. I know the story, when I finally got access to the internet I read them many times. I love the story, and I hope to eventually sit down and beat the games. It would be nice to play a remaster, in fact there was one for the PS2 years ago but it never made it to the west. Sadly I doubt we ever see one, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Don’t Bite Me Bro

download (6)

Don’t bite me bro is a game I came across while browsing the free games with my daughter the other day. Of course since we love zombie survival games like 7 Days to Die Revisted we downloaded this and played. It is 4 players couch co-op after all, so it was natural we would give this a shot.

I will say this, the game has a cool idea, an asteroid  hits the earth and turns everyone into zombies for some reason. Well not everyone, you have to rescue a few people plus you obviously are not a zombie. So the story while cool makes very little sense.

The controls the range from nice to damn near don’t work. The truck at times barely works, at times I found I could not drive in a certain direction where I had to reset the truck’s position, thankfully this is just a push of a button. Building can also be a hassle at times, placing items where you want isn’t always easy either and there are random times the game won’t even let you place items at all tho the game does not explain this to you, you just need to figure this out.

Another large issue is you will be attacked by hordes at regular intervals, but these intervals come pretty quick. This results in attempting to explore nearby and having to rush back to defend your base. This is actually really damn annoying honestly, it gets easier tho as you save more people at least since you can set them up to defend your base, which is nice of them.

The game can be fun, but has its issues. It is pretty new and hopefully with some updates it will be improved since the game does have potential. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Playerunknowns’s Battlegrounds (Xbox One)

download (4)

PUBG, at one point this game was huge, still is really but for various reasons it has fallen out of favor with many people. This honestly isn’t about all that, so if you are here to see me bash this game in favor of Fortnight or say how much better than Fortnight this game is, that won’t be happening. All I will say is this, while there are similarities the two games do differ in-game play. Fortnight is far less realistic than PUBG while PUBG attempts to capture a more combat sim play style. I understand the comparison to an extent but I truly do not understand why people insist on thinking people can’t like both or why someone can’t prefer one over the other.

PUBG is as we all know is a battle royale game, 100 people dropped onto a map, you search for supplies, last man standing wins. You can also play as a team with the same rules but you know, last team wins. It is a pretty fun concept but the game does suffer from issues on the Xbox, even on the One X. People regularly die before the game even finishes even rendering for example. Switching equipment can also be a chore, to the point that hiding is almost a requirement, at least for newer players, and this can result in your untimely death. There also is no real tutorial mode which while not a huge issue, also doesn’t tell you much about the control scheme which takes some getting used to.

That being said, the game is in early access which gives it some space for improvement, and the game has been getting pretty regular improvements. Nothing amazing and still has a long way to go, and I doubt most people will care to wait around for it. Personally I doubt I will play long-term myself. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dark Souls Remastered Test Review

images (2)

This weekend they ran a test on the servers for Dark Souls Remastered, so I spent one night playing on my PS4 pro and one on My Xbox One X. Now to be upfront when it comes to graphics the OneX has a slight advantage in the lighting department but honestly unless you are a graphics snob, there isn’t a significant difference here.

Graphics aside that we won’t talk about since they look great compared to the original release, the controls are much smoother than they used to be but still don’t feel that great compared to Dark Souls 3 or even  Scholars of the first Sin. The camera functions amazingly tho which was always one of my two major complaints, my other complaint? The hit boxes. When playing the original I would hit people and my damn weapon would clearly hit the enemy but would go right thru the guy causing no damage. I always felt like playing the first Dark Souls was less about being good and more about mastering a broken camera system and game. I am happy to say however that both of those issues have been fixed completely.

What you end up with now is what can only be described as the best Dark Souls experience you can get on console. The game looks beautiful, controls better than ever, the camera works great and the battle system now relies on skill and knowledge. While I understand many fans will disagree with what I have said about the original release, this is a great place for people who never played the first to finally get to play. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Red Dead Redemption 2

download (1)

Here we are, after all these years and all this talk. We knew it was coming, but finally we can say Red Dead Redemption 2 has a release date (October 26th 2018) and a whole bunch of info. Hold onto your hates cowboys and cow-ladies (is that a word?) we are in for a ride.

First as is already know, this game is a prequel to the first game and John Marston will be making some sort of appearance in the game as both him and the main character Arthur Morgan are members of the Van der Linde gang.

Hunting is also reportedly making its way back as you would expect, but this time around it is more detailed. The amount of damage will change the amount of money you get for the skins and bringing the animal back whole will also bring more money and it will also decay overtime, also making a difference.

Walking around with your guns drawn will also change how people react towards you, talking to people with your guns our for example won’t go over well as you can imagine. Horses now have a system of trust, the longer you have it and the better you treat it the further away it will hear you whistle and act better in a gun fun, but if it dies it is gone forever. You will also have to start the system all over again if you get a new horse.

You can see more details here along with other links to videos and such here if you are interested, for now best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you greatness.

Streets of Rage 3 (Xbox 360)

download (6).jpg

Here we are, the final of the Streets of Rage games in the Sega Vintage collection, and my personal favorite of the 3. It looks the best, plays the best, has the most characters and in general for me was just the most fun. As always it has multiple options to make sure it fits everyone’s screen the right way and once again the game looks and sounds like a pumped up version of its original release. Of all the versions of the streets of rage games I have played to me these seem like the definitive versions. And at the low price of free for Xbox gold members it is pretty much a steal. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
