New Tony Hawk, On Mobile

People have been begging for a new Tony Hawk skateboarding game for years ever since the disaster that was Tony Hawk 5, and on December 13th you will get that dream. Sadly, it will be on mobile devices. According to Polygon it will follow the same formula of skating through parks and such for high scores but this time on the go. Time will tell how good this turns out, but really it can’t be worse than Five can it? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Red Dead Online Beta First Impressions

First, let me get this out of the way, this is not meant to be an all-encompassing review. This is just my first impression of the first couple opening hours. Do not take this as gospel. There is a lot of stuff to do and it would be impossible to get it all out in a timely manner. So keep in mind some of what I say I may change my mind about later, plus it is really just a beta.

That last part I mean, it does suffer from many of the things a beta does. For example, a few friends complained about being kicked off multiple times. One couldn’t even play when she should have been despite playing day one. There are also reports of people just being toxic trolls similar to what you run into in GTA tho I personally never experienced it, so keep that in mind as well.

There is a lot of good tho. I had a blast hunting with friends and doing missions. The story is also nice and takes place prior to the events of the main game. I love that much of the main game aspects are in the online game such as animals running around and people. The missions are easy to find or you can just go into the menu and pick one. The missions are pretty standard, mostly kill each other and races.

There are a lot of things I still want to do and try, but so far I am pleased with what I have played. It is pretty much what I wanted, Red Dead with my friends. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Override Mech City Brawl: Preview

Override: Mech City Brawl is exactly what it sounds like, a mech brawling game. Over the weekend I was lucky enough to be part of their preview this weekend with Modus Games. I honestly never expect much from mech games. In my experience, they are usually clunky to control lack any real replay value. There are obviously a few exceptions, and I am happy to say Override is one of them. The preview was lacking the arcade and single player modes and focused on beating the crap out of your friends and other people, it also let you add CPU bots into the mix which me and my friend added in a few times. I will add a few videos below so you can see the game in action.

The controls felt nice tho and with so many mechs to choose from I really thought at least a few would feel like just copy and pasted versions of another but I never felt that. Each mech had its own special moves and strengths and weaknesses. Some take more skill than others to master but all are very viable contenders with none being at a particular advantage. This game will absolutely be on my list of games to watch when it releases on PC and PS4. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Volcanoids (PC Preview)

The other day I am sitting at home, wallowing away self-pity and despair, which actually means I was sitting around bored waiting for dinner to get done. That is when I got a text from my friend over at gamingwithnoobs. He tells me he got an Alpha code for this game called Volcanoids. We toss stories back and forth but he usually isn’t so excited about telling me about games I have never heard of so this alone makes me take notice. So I looked up the trailer, which you can see below.

As you can see the game is a survival game, much like 7 Days to Die or The Forest but with a twist. It takes place in a more steampunk world with a mobile base and a volcano. This is the part that intrigues me. Many times I have built a base and realized its placement is not as useful as it used to be, but it would take to much work to rebuild it and move all my stuff so I simply travel back and forth. Now you won’t have to.

The robots, known as COGs will appear randomly for now, but eventually, enemy diggers will appear that will spawn them and as you take out the diggers, the COGs disappear as well. That will be in the future, however. I tell you that to show you that the people making this game (Volcanoid) have future plans for the game beyond simply making it work.

I have also spent some time on the Discord server, which is quite exciting in itself. I have spoken to both Tomas and Richard a little bit, both of which are the actual developers and they are friendly and willing to answer questions from fans which is always awesome to see. I don’t want to go into more details right now until I see more of the game in action, but this is a game fans of survival will want to keep an eye on. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailers

Later this month what will probably be the game of the year releases, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is shaping up to be pretty great, with hunting and shopping and a huge world to explore. A very dangerous world, see for example if you decide to wantonly kill people thats fine, but their families might just decide to kill you later. Recently game play trailers have released and i wanted to drop them in one place for you guys.

Battlefield V Beta

download (1)

Going in to the Battlefield V beta. There has been a lot of talk about a lot of things but honestly, this is really just a good-looking battlefield game. The controls are almost exactly what you would expect, tho I will admit the begging for help to be revived when you get killed annoys the hell out of me. But the shooting feels nice and the graphics looked great.

Another major problem that I hope they fix,is the match finding. I spent as much time finding a match as I ever did playing and if that isn’t fixed the game will be in terrible shape. All in all tho my honest take away is if you have always enjoyed the Battlefield games you will enjoy this one, but from the beta I don’t see this one changing that opinion. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Ultra Age (PlayStation 4)

Ultra Age_Official_Key_Visual

Ultra Age coming from Intragames and developer Next Stage and is being called a “High speed rogue-like” game feature single player action. The game is expected to release in 2019 and has been featured at events such as PS Arena in Korea and Tokyo Game show 2018 on hall 3 C15. The game looks quite interesting like Intragames other title I played Survive! Mr. Cube Review and I don’t doubt this will be another interesting experience. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sonic Live Action Movie

images

For some odd reason I will never understand, we are getting a live action Sonic movie starring James Marsden and Kim Carrey. Not much is known about the story aside from it will take place in the Green Hills zone when a cop helps Sonic escape from the government. Now I have played plenty of Sonic games and I can’t recall him ever trying to get away from the government or even the cops being involved. While I don’t doubt Carreys ability to play Eggman/Robotnik or any of the actors honestly the entire concept of a live action Sonic movie just seems really, odd. I’m honestly not even sure who came up with this idea or why aside from possibly being a quick cash grab or why this would be thought of as a good idea. What are your thoughts? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Project Hospital Preview

images

Recently it was announced that Project Hospital would be released on October 30th 2018. With that announcement Oxymoron Games decided to give some of us a little preview of the game, and I greatly appreciate being one of the people getting to preview this long-awaited game.

For those that aren’t aware, Project Hospital is a tycoon style management game. It is done in quite a realistic way, you will need to build rooms to deal with any number of issues ranging from the common cold to more severe issues requiring surgery. You will need to manage staff for both a night and day shift, from doctors down to janitors each with specific needs.

The game will start you off with a few short and easy to follow tutorials. They will guide you thru the basics of hiring and building of a hospital. It will prepare you adequately tho they do leave quite a bit for you to figure out on your own. That isn’t a bad thing, none of it is to hard just there really. But how bout the game play and the graphics?

Well graphically the game looks pretty good. It won’t win any awards or blow your mind but it gets the job done. The sound also falls into the same category really if I am being honest. Admittedly I have never met anyone that plays a tycoon game and does it for graphics and sound. It is all about the game play and functionality, and outside of a few minor issues that can easily be fixed by the time the game launches the game really shines in this department. One example is for some reason when placing an employee in a room the employee was offset from where my mouse was by a good 2 or 3 inches. Janitors also seem to act pretty odd at times but they warned us about that going into the whole thing as well.

At the end of the day the preview version is a late build beta with a few things still to be added and polish to be done and just over 2 months until release. With that much time clearly things will be improved. Before plaything this I was looking forward to the game, and now I am down right excited. October 30th will be a good time for tycoon fans. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Blossom & Decay (Preview and Pre-Alpha)

download (11).jpg

Blossom & Decay is an interesting game, but before I get into it I want to explain how this came into my life. Not long ago on Twitter I asked everyone to recommend some good indie projects to me and I ended up following and being followed by Konspiracy Games. Then I got busy and I kept meaning to shoot them a message and see what they were up to. Their game looked interesting but I just never got the chance. Then a little bit ago they actually sent me a message. I won’t go into details but it was basically just them introducing themselves and giving me some info about the game, basically the info I was going to ask for anyway. This lead to me getting into a pre-alpha demo of the game. So after I tell you about that I will be linking some stuff at the bottom for you guys to read up on, because the short version of this whole thing is simple. If you are a fan of building and exploring games, you will want to keep an eye on this game.

First thing I have to get out-of-the-way, this was a pre alpha demo of the game so it was a bit rough around the edges. The controls could be a bit stiff at time and I often found myself a bit confused as to what I should be doing. It was easy enough to figure out tho, so even tho they invited me into their discord I never really had to go ask about anything. I would have used it to report bugs but I am yet to hit one. I am sure they are there, but admittedly I have good luck with missing bugs. I usually only get the game breaking ones. ( looking at you Fractured but Whole you game breaking bastard)

Now for the game itself, what is it? Why should you be excited? Is it fun? Well the game itself is essentially what you make it. Literally. You start out getting off a boat. As you enter the world, at least in this version, you get a small tutorial of how things work. After that the world is your oyster as they say. You want to build a farm? You can do that. You want to go exploring, feel free. Do you want to get a group of friends together and raid a nearby farming settlement and steal all their stuff, you can. I should point out tho, they will be pissed. Those are real people, and they worked hard to build that farm. If they can’t hunt you down they may pay people to do it. See the world is ever changing in accordance to what the people feel like doing.  People can essentially set up their own towns, with laws and stores all with real people.

One example of this started right after I started playing. I built a small fire on the beach where I started, got some food and just messed around. About half a dozen players had this same idea. They have all since moved on. I don’t know where they went, they all left while I was asleep. Really asleep by the way, you can give commands to your player, but they stay in the game when you aren’t. My guy was crafting a few odds and ends for when I came back. The game being browser based allows for a handy feature by the way (as confirmed by both the creators and I have personally done this with my cell phone) you can start on your PC, run to the store and check on your game with your phone. As of now its mostly only useful for crafting tho, which honestly is why I wanted it in the first place.

As I stated earlier the game is a bit rough, but at this early stage the game has a boat load of potential and is already fun to play. I will be watching this game and checking back in without a doubt. Below I have listed some materials, and definitely check out their Twitter. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
