Superman 40th Anniversary

Superman-1978-Christopher-Reeve-Flying

As reported by Screen Rant Superman:The Movie will be returning to theaters for the 4th anniversary of its release. Staring Christopher Reeve this movie actually holds a special place for me, not because its one of my favorite super hero movies, because it’s not or even because it’s the first I remember seeing because it isn’t. The first was actually Batman (1989). No this was just my first ever really experiencing Superman. Either way having been born after this left theaters, I would like to see this. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Graveyard Keeper

download.jpg

Graveyard Keeper is an odd game. The game starts off with you at a store, in the modern day. On the way home BOOM. Dude is hit by a car. After talking to what I assume is death you are tasked with digging up a friend to help guide you on your task. What task is that do you ask? Well as the name implies running a graveyard, which you will do very little of the time. Seriously I spent the opening hours of the game talking to people, chopping down trees, killing some slimes for the local smith. All sorts of things, and yes some of that was to fix up the graveyard. Mostly tho, it was not.

The game is fun and demented in its own way. For example do you do things the right way to sell meat, or do you get a fake seal and just hack parts off dead bodies the donkey brings you and sell that to people?  Yes you can sell people human mean from corpses. Eventually you can also open up the church and get some money and such that way.

The game also has some bugs to it, some are quite major reportedly and that seems mostly on the Xbox version but the PC version as well and yes that does include some that will require you to restart your game. I haven’t had any issues but they are reported pretty reliable from many places. The game is a lot of fun, but it isn’t the most polished game out there and it can be pretty grindy at times. I don’t regret buying it and I have no issue recommending it to people that enjoy the style of game, but it is a very niche game and is not for most people. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

El Camino Christmas

images

El Camino Christmas is the story of man trying to meet his dad for the first time, and instead things go sideways real fast. Luke Grimes (Eric Roth) meets a man claiming to know his dad (Tim Allen) that turns out to just be the local alcoholic. Sadly some weed falls out of his pocket in Grimes car and the small town police already not liking him drag him in and accuse him of running drugs. This is where things get even worse, see Carl Hooker (Vincent D’Onofrio) plays an old cop stuck in his ways and willing to do some unsavory things, like beat a prisoner until he confesses.

The next morning Deputy Billy (Dax Shepard) lets Grimes go to keep things a bit civil. No one gets to go to jail and the local cops don’t get in trouble for beating suspects. Seems fair right? This is where things get even worse. See Carl sees grimes, takes a few shots, forces him off the road and we end up at a local store.

The movie itself is good for a few laughs and there are some deep heart to heart moments in the store, but over all the movie is simply average. If you are a fan of Tim Allen you will really like it as his character is interesting and of course funny in that special Tim Allen way. Of course Kurtwood Smith is always a good time as well. The movie has its faults tho. The story itself it pretty bland and slow going and just about everything about it has been there done that, except the ending. The ending is amazing. So if you need a quick laugh and have some time to kill give it a shot, but don’t expect life altering. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Bow To Blood – The Review — All The PlayStation You’ll Ever Need.

Sometimes we may see a movie, play a game or even read a book where a character just almost has a life of its own. There was a movie called Empire Records and in the movie, there was a date of April 8th. What is April the 8th…well that is Rex Manning Day. But as […]

One Last Shot (1998)

download.jpg

One shot is a short film by Mike Clattenberg which most of you know from Trailer Park boys. It featured the characters Rickey, Julian and Mr. Lahey and told the story of Rickey and Julians last day together before Rickey moved to Vancouver.

At first I thought the movie wasn’t very good but I realized it wasn’t really fair to judge a 20-year-old short film shot by friends and 3 guys to harshly. Sure Clerks is basically a cult classic but that is equal parts genius and fluke to be honest.

One last shot was actually fairly well put together, the scenes make sense and for a black and white film the lighting is actually well done. At no point did I feel like the dark parts were overly dark or the light taking away from anything and the acting while a bit bland at times didn’t exactly feel stiff. It just felt like what it was, people who loved movies that wanted to make one and get some experience and honestly that showed. I have seen much higher production value movies feel less heartfelt and honest than this did. Its only 30 minutes and it very much worth checking out if you are a fan of his or the Trailer Park Boys (which I am not) best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Scary Stories To Tell In A Movie — nscovell

If you asked a person who grew up in both the 80’s and 90’s, what books they remember as youngsters. There’s a good chance that individual will say Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was a past favorite. Many of us remember these three books and fondly remember reading the various tales within the […]

Supernatural season 7

download (6)

Season 7 of Supernatural brings us another big enemy with the Leviathans, the beings that were here before the Humans. Cass brought them out of Purgatory with him, and when the renegade angel turned god puts all the souls back into Purgatory they decide not to go, and they of course are not peaceful.

We will also see out dear brothers Sam and Dean dealing with the loss of their dear friend Bobby, tho he is a ghost. I don’t want to spoil much but at this point the series has hit a sort of pattern. That isn’t bad, but we basically see the same thing here as the last couple seasons. Sam and Dean fight, bad guys do stuff. Sam and  Dean make up, bad guys die, this sets off a reaction freeing the next bad guy or incident that pushes the series along. You will see the same thing here with the defeat of the Leviathans and the consequences that follow. The season is still good and I enjoyed season 7, but that pattern can not be ignored. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
