Ash vs Evil Dead (series)

I came late to the party on this one and just recently caught up on seasons one and two. Rather than doing each season by itself I figured I would just give my thoughts on the series in general.

Only counting the movies this is based around the last one came out in the early 90’s, and for those not old enough to really know the first Evil Dead is pretty much the definition of a movie that was made and became a cult classic that nobody could have seen coming. I can’t imagine they made this thinking ” Ok guys thats a wrap, lets sit back and wait to make a couple million, a few sequels and in about 30 years a television show.” I mean maybe that happened but I seriously doubt it.

Later movies took on a much less serious tone and I think thats because by the time I saw Evil Dead I thought the movie was hilarious not scary. Fast forward to Ash vs Evil Dead. This show is stupid, ridiculous and serves absolutely no purpose. And I can not wait for season 3. If you said hey Savior what would you want in an Evil Dead television show, this would be it. The entire show is based around Ash doing mostly stupid stuff, hitting on women, getting drunk, and killing deadites in gory and ridiculous ways. One of my favorite lines is him driving along yelling about how maybe he shouldn’t be driving and he may not have a fancy license from the DMV but at least he is drunk. Numerous times he will talk about how things can’t get worse and this always means things will get worse. Any fan of the old movies will like this show. Sadly it is also one of the most illegally downloaded shows out there, so please, it is on Netflix, go watch it there. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Romancing Saga 2 (Xbox One)

Romancing Saga 2 was originally released in December 1993 in Japan and took forever to come to America, in fact as far as I can find, this is it. But was it worth the wait? Honestly unless you are a HUGE JRPG fan the answer is no. The game isn’t bad, it just isn’t great. The story is actually being told by a bard in a tavern, and that story can change depending on choices you make and characters you choose as the linage of your kingdom changes. This aspect is nice and even now is not something you see often. Many times tho this makes it feel like you are simply starting the game over a bunch of times rather than progressing towards beating 7 heroes. The game is fun and interesting and for any JRPG fan its worth playing for both the history of it and the experience of such a unique title, but it is far from being one of the better games of the early 90’s or of the genre. Bright (2017)

Bright is another Netflix movie that I really need to stop underestimating. The movie of course isn’t perfect, and Will Smith basically just played Will Smith again as he always does. The story is also quite predictable to the point that I knew the ending about 30 minutes in and that is never a good thing.

All that aside the movie has a pretty original idea for movie in this day and age. Instead of the usual cop movie on Earth we have an Earth where humans orcs and elves all exist side by side, but in a rather nice twist they always have. Magic is greatly condemned however as about 2000 years ago a dark figure attempted to conquer the world using it. The orcs are basically regulated to being viewed as 3nd class citizens because they sided with the dark one. It is also quite implied that racism doesn’t exist so much as discrimination against species does, where Elves see themselves superior everyone and orcs being pretty much the lowest and humans somewhere in the middle.

Will Smith returns to work with his partner that happens to be the first ever orc police officer which you can imagine does not make the other police happy, all of which are human. Will Smiths character is also not happy since he was shot on duty while his partner bought a burrito and the suspect escaped. No the movie is not perfect, but the action is nice and for those that care to look it is quite thought provoking, but not in your face thought provoking. It is all pretty subtle while the actual story of them attempting to stop rogue elves from recovering a magic wand to revive the dark one to take over the world. My Game of the Year for 2017

Everyone has a choice for game of the year 2017, some are obvious some are not. Obviously I can only choose from games I have personally played (sorry Nintendo) and for me there is only one possibility, and only one game that would come close to a 10/10 score (tho i’d never give a 10/10 that implies perfect and perfect doesn’t exist) and that game is Persona 5. The game was beautiful, had an amazing story the sound was top notch. But there is one thing this game has that many other amazing games just didn’t match up to. You could easily log over 100 hours into persona 5 playing the game normally and not finish it. There were a lot of great games in 2017, but for me there was just no other choice. You guys know the routine, I always like to skip reviewing stuff to give you guys a more personal message before a holiday. I wrote this one in advance tho because honestly, may be a bit busy with the kids which is code for savior may be way to drunk to type. Don’t worry tho, I always stay home and never drive. Seriously guys this year has been a blast and next year I am sure will be even more amazing. So while you guys are out tonight just a little advice from me to you. Ladies, watch you drinks. Never leave them unattended. Watch out for your friends, both male and female. and above all else, stay safe out there. Drink plenty of water tonight before you go out and have a Gatorade or something for in the morning. It helps with hangovers. Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is basically the dream game for most fans of the Dragon Ball fans. You create a character from one of the races in the series, then help protect the timeline of the series in an original story made for the game. As you go through various events you unlock different repeatable battles you can fight in to unlock new moves, level up or even train with masters to learn their moves or be given items you can use to increase the abilities of your person or just make them look better. The fighting mechanics are fluid and easy to learn but to learn the abilities you want can take a lot of time and effort. The game and sound are nice tho, so the time spent playing will be nice, but the game is clearly meant for fans of the series. Anyone that isn’t will want to stay very clear of this one, however if you are a fan this is absolutely a must buy. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Alienate (2016)

I am just going to be 100% honest with you. This movie is one of those movies that is a complete failure that could have been a damn good movie. The story is basically about a man obsessed with his work that leaves on a business trip pretty much as his marriage fails. The down side? There happens to be an alien invasion. Now He struggles to make his way home as the world falls apart. The invasion itself is pretty smartly done. While planes are knocked out of the sky and something is placed in the water to pacify the population people panic.

The down side is I am pretty sure this movie was made by a bunch of students that got some funding and new actors willing to work for free and experience. The acting wasn’t all that good, but that could be because the script itself was pretty lackluster. The special effects also left much to be desired. The movie it self pretty much served very little purpose except to exist. That being said, the movie has a lot of potential. The story had potential and with some time it and the characters could have been turned into something memorable and the invasion itself was one of the better thought out plans I have personally come across. In the end it is simply a B movie that may be worth checking out,but don’t expect a great or even a good flick. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

This movie is a classic B movie. It has stars you know, but not really anyone huge. Like that fat kid from stand by me that was in sliders (Jerry O’Connell) and Christopher Lloyd playing a crazy seeming fish doctor. It has a story that blatantly makes no real sense, but has a slight ring of seems plausible with prehistoric fish being trapped in a sort of cave that are released into a lake that go on a feeding frenzy. What is the only thing missing? A huge party full of college kids, naked women, booze and badly done deaths with mountains of death. Actually, that is pretty much the main plot of the story.

See while all this is going on Jerrys character is pretty much this movies version of the guy that started Girls Gone Wild and he is at this lake for spring break to throw a party with barely legal girls to shoot his new video, and everyone wants in. The fish just weren’t planned on. The story is barely passable the acting is exactly what you would expect and the movie is pretty much about parties and death. It is simply pointless fun, death and women.It is a fun watch tho, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
