Crisol: Theater of Idols trailer

I want to take a second and talk about a game I haven’t seen much buzz about that I think deserves some. I love the vibe I got, feeling close to Lies of P and Resident Evil VIII: Village . I really liked the aesthetic and that it does look fun, which can be rare in survival horror. I’m excited to see more about this game come out. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Borderlands 4 story trailer

After the lackluster story of Borderlands 3 , am I excited for 4? The game looks fun. But I gotta admit Randy Pitchford’s comments about the real Borderlands fans being willing to pay $80, like many gamers in our very harsh American economy, rightfully pissed me off. It’s going to be a long time if I even decide to pick up BL4 but from everything I’ve seen, the game basically looks like business as usual for the series. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Silent Hill F trailer

So I gushed over Resident Evil 9 reveal trailer but there was another trailer at 2025’s State of Play that really hit me. I’d never gotten into Silent Hill but I loved the lore, imagery, and music. F looks a fresh take on the classic franchise. The graphics and atmosphere look great and my curiosity is piqued at the story. I’m incredibly excited to experience a new entry in this beloved series. Resident Evil 9 reveal trailer

It’s finally here! I’ve followed any news I could since Resident Evil VIII: Village, wondering where the story would go now that Ethan’s story is finished. We’re introduced to our new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, who’s wrapped up in her own mysterious story. If this is your first time seeing the trailer, I don’t want to spoil a very familiar locale, just that I freaked out as well as the title drop. RE: Requiem is dropping 2 weeks after my birthday, and this is absolutely my most anticipated of 2026. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Prey

Have you ever had that 1 game that haunted you? You wanted to get into it, pmped hours in, but never never clicked. Prey is one such game for me. Long time followers will know I wrote mini posts on my time with it nearly a decade ago. In my time away, I managed to finish it and months later my thoughts are still pretty potent.

We play as Morgan Yu, newly brought onto the Talos 1 space station by your brother to get a new life, with a fancy new job and life. Life looks great. That is until Morgan wakes up to catastrophe as a inky, black, extraterrestrial called the Typhon unleashing on the station. The Typhons can mimic nearly anything, living or inanimate as well as possess extraordinary abilities. Not only must Morgan survive but also uncover Talos’s secret while struggling to stay human, but then again, what is human?

So Prey is a hell of an experience. At first, I was expecting Bioshock in space. There are some pretty deep questions about humanity and identity in the game and it is a creative sim unlike no other. The number of solutions to problems is pretty impressive. The AI for the Typhons is pretty damn smart; you are tense because literally anything can be an enemy. Resources are scarce, and enemies hit extremely hard, and you do have to think about each encounter which is one of my favorite things about the game but also why I hate it. Normal for prey is hard on any other game. Story mode is the medium setting. This game will kick your ass if you aren’t a surviaal, stealth, horror veteran. The only complaint I truly have is the pathfinding is rough; you’re definitely going to be looking up videos because many times during my playthrough, the hub confused and mislead me. The setting is beautifully rendered. The music fits like a glove. I seriously recommend this game with caution because while not an easy game, there is a lot of great things to experience. Fantastic 4: First Steps trailer

Ok, so long time followers know I love Marvel’s First Family. I wrote a piece a while ago about what I wanted from them in the MCU ( What to do with Fantastic 4? ).

They’re here, along with bringing Silver Surfer and Galactus into the MCU. I love the vintage vibe the movie is going for. Ebon Moss as the Thing looks perfect. Galactus is perfect so far. I like the golden age costumes. There’s a lot of potential but the more I think, the more I’m afraid of this thing. While not as wretched as Fant4stic, I’m still seeing a huge uphill fight for this thing. I think. Starting with Surfer and Galactus is very risky. The 4’s crap track record adds anxiety as well as the serious dip in MCU quality in general. The first test screenings being meh don’t really help either. Time will tell but I am still cautiously excited. May the gaming gods flame on!

Sinners

I want to talk about hype for a moment. How many times have you seen a piece of media hyped up to a level that ultimately killed your enjoyment? Maybe it was shoved down your throat, maybe the final product wasn’t for you or just meh? I went into Sinners expecting a solid vampire romp with some heart, maybe some laughs. The questions are what did I get and was the hype warranted?

It’s a small Mississippi town in the Jim Crow era of America. The Smoke Stack twins, 2 local troublemakers, have returned to their hometown to begin a new blues club for the weary black community. They recruit the best the community has to open their new club, including there young cousin Sammy, a gifted musician. The club is a hit opening night. Sammy is a hit. All seems well until a odd trio of Irish musicians show up, politely asking to be let in, led by the friendly Remmick, preaching equality through music. They are turned away. Throughout the night, things slowly unravel for Smoke and Stack as they learn the profits aren’t weren’t what they hoped. Maybe they were too rash sending the Irish away, all they wanted was to be family after all…

Ok, no bullshit, this movie is phenomenal. The movie is first and foremost about music and it does it exquisitely. There’s a lot of blues, Irish folk, and fusion throughout as the movie progresses; the music numbers are fantastically performed by an extremely talented and enthusiastic cast. Michael B. Jordan is outstanding as the twins. The vampires have a badass design, and Remmick is a really cool villain. Ryan Coogler, director of the MCU Black Panther movies, puts his heart and soul into the setting and costumes as well as his appreciation of black culture, while still giving us a pretty awesome action/ horror movie. I haven’t been this inspired leaving a movie theater since seeing Oppenheimer . It’s rare to see movies, or any art in general, where the passion is palpable. It’s contagious. Sinners is an example of dedication and talent coming together under one banner that I can’t recommend enough. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Predator: Killer of Killers trailer

Recently I covered the Predator: Badlands teaser. which I;m pretty pumped for, but we’re getting a pretty awesome appetizer with this dark, animated anthology film. I love the idea of 3 Predator stories told throughout human history: the Viking era, Feudal Japan, and WWII. I like seeing the different Yautja types and even what seems to be some space combat, which is something new to the series. I’ll definitely be checking it out this summer. Superman full trailer

I’m cautiously optimistic for this one. I’ve been a longtime fan of James Gunn, even before his time with the MCU. The last DC cinematic universe imploded so there’s literally an entire cinematic universe riding on this movie. Corenswet seems like a more human Clark and I do like the energy he seems to have as the Man of Steel. I like what I saw of Lois, Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrefic, and Lex Luthor. I’m not sure how I feel about the Engineer as the main baddie but I do love everything I’ve seen of Krypto. There have been some leaks that I pray aren’t true or at least seriously overplayed about the main plot of the movie because so far I like where it’s going. Time will tell. Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengence

How in the hell did we get a sequel? Normally, I’d start with a synopsis, but truth be told, there isn’t much of one. Marshall and Washington reunite begrudgingly to take on a new syndicate and Tommy Wiseau. I just explained the movie and saved you a lot of boredom.

Samurai Cop 2 misses a lot of what made the first great. There is bad acting and garish effects but nothing that reaches into the legendary WTF territory as the first. The pacing is atrocious. Halfway through Savior and I kept asking when it would be over. Tommy Wiseau was…Tommy Wiseau and though he’s the final villain, he is too annoying to be funny. There are a lot of callbacks that don’t go anywhere. In the end , forget this movie exists and stay with the original. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
