Comix Zone

Comix Zone is as beautiful as its ever been, and the idea of being trapped inside of a comic book was excellent. The controls on this one aren’t bad but are far from being the best that Sega Forever has offered. The game was always a challenge and now may be even harder. Its nor impossible however and should not stop fans of the game from playing. Now get out there and enjoy, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Revenge of Shinobi

The Revenge of Shinobi (known as Shinobi 2:The Revenge) is the typical 80’s ninja revenge story.

The sound is top notch and the visuals are solid as well. Honestly the game is a challenge and not because of the controls. While like the other games from Sega Forever the controls are a bit stiff, they don’t take away from the experience. It is really worth checking out just for the retro feel. I enjoyed my time with it and it is good to kill some time. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Virtual Tennis

So far all of the Sega Forever games I have checked out have been good. This one however does not translate over well. Sure graphically it is beautiful for a Mobile Sega game. While the controls themselves aren’t bad the smaller screen gives very little reaction time and when you add in the small delay on the screen it becomes unnecessarily difficult  in some situations. Unless you are a die hard fan of the game or tennis I’d suggest skipping this one. As always thanks and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Golden Axe

Golden Axe is the story of 3 heroes , a dwarf, a warrior and an amazon as they seek revenge against Death Adder whom took over their once peaceful land.

The visuals are good for a cell phone game. The controls are passable but a little stiff for my taste but other than that it is a pretty great port for any one that either missed the original or just want to play it over again.

Sega Forever is doing a great job releasing these games on mobile and while all of them aren’t what I would have preferred it is still an excellent selection. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Altered Beast

Screenshot_2017-09-10-14-13-37.png

Sega Forever continues to release more and more games, and Altered Beast is a welcomed addition. Visually it is solid and while the controls aren’t as fluid as I would like they are do the job.

The story is a bit aged, taking place in ancient Greece Zues revives our hero in order to save his daughter Athena and grants you the ability to transform into various creatures such as a wearwolf. While I am sure many have already played this game, if you want to revisit it and need a quick way to kill some time this will do the job. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dead Island PS4

dead island

There is one thing I have to get out of the way here before we move on to the actual review.

Seriously tell me this is not one of the best songs in a video game possibly ever? I don’t even like this kind of music but here we are.

Anyway back to why you are here. This game looks pretty good for an updated PS3 game and we all know how I feel about the sounds. The game takes place on the island of Banoi, a beautiful lush tropical island.

This game was pretty divisive for 1 reason and 2 reason only. Many people believed the game had no story really which was weirdly hidden. Not that it was hidden well, you will find most of it with just randomly exploring and doing side missions. The problem came from the fact that many of the side missions are easy to miss. It is also very easy to simply run around killing shit and never even noticed the other stuff. The story itself  is fun and engaging and I highly recommend checking it out, if only for the sure fun of smashing zombies with tons of melee weapons. And while you are at it, may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Final Fantasy 10: first impressions

ffx1

So first I gotta say I’m not finished with the game yet, actually Savior told me i’m not even half way done yet but I wanted to talk about my experience  so far. Many, many- ok so pretty much all of my friends that game are huge Final Fantasy fans. I’ve never played one before so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I got to say I love this game. In a nutshell…so far…Final Fantasy 10 is the story of a famous blitz-ball player named Tidus from the metropolis of Zanarkand. During a huge game, a massive beast called Sin attacks Zanarkand and Tidus gets thrown into another time and a journey to aid young beautiful summoner Yuna and her guardians Wakka, Lulu, Kimarhi, Rikku, and Auron to vanquish Sin and the summoner gone rogue Seymour. Where I left of was the first boss battle against Seymour. Remastered on PlayStation 4, this game is literally breathtaking. I seriously was blown away by the beauty of the game. I haven’t really played many turn based RPGs but this is a fun and simple way to start. It’s a welcome change from FPS. Besides the graphics, the characters drive me deeper into this odyssey. The best compliment I can give this game is I haven’t been so invested in the welfare of game characters since the Mass Effect trilogy. Final Fantasy 10 is a awesome game so far and I can’t wait to see all that comes next.

No Man’s Sky, The journey continues

no mans sky

The story of No Man’s Sky is a very storied one. From big dreams and great hype to broken promises and more. By now we are all familiar with all that stuff tho by now. So I am going to give you a brief breakdown on my original thoughts on the game, then add my take on the new stuff added.

First my seemingly unpopular opinion. I was unaware of most of the hype and promise surrounding the game. The graphics while not great were pretty fun I thought and the joy of discovering new creatures was great. There were plenty of bad things, but I will save that for the next section.

The updates over the last year have been great, most notably for me was the base building is easy and fun to use and the more frequent space battles are pretty cool. That being said some of the main flaws are still there. For example you will still be spending 90% of your time simply shooting stuff to collect resources and the story while expanded is still pretty meh over all.

Honestly if you have never played the game before now is a great time to give it  shot, but if like me you logged a ton of hours at release ( I was up over 60 easily) there isn’t much reason to come back unless you love base building. There are better games out there like Elite Dangerous if you simply have an itch to go exploring the galaxy. Fly safe and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Fishing Planet

fishing planet-2

I used to go fishing with my dad as a kid every summer, so on occasion I partake in a fishing or hunting game. I have played a few but most were simply decent games nut nothing fancy. Check out these graphics tho.

fishing planet

For a free fishing game they are great, the sounds are also great and the controls are basically flawless for a fishing game.

The starting tutorial is short an to the point and will teach you the basics of catching a fish. The game then sends you on your way to go on fishing trips in various and numerous places in North  America. There are some flaws however, for example the character customization is very very limited.  You will unlock more outfits later but your avatar goes pretty unchanged.

The bottom line on this one is if you love fishing, this game is the closest I have ever seen to fishing without actually going fishing. Now get out there, reel in a big one, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Minecraft

Minecraft-Free-Download-PC-Mac.jpg

Ok this is going to be one of those reviews that some people will love and others will ask why I hate happiness.

First a quick rehash for those living under a rock and don’t know what game is. There are 2 modes survival and creative. Creative gives you access to everything from the start and survival lets you start from scratch to build tools and a house and survive during the day and hide out at night. Or go mining for rocks and rare minerals.

Now that we got that out of the way, how the fuck did strip mining the world become a fun game that kids seem to love? Seriously like 90% of this game is whacking stuff with different sticks to build a house you are never in because you are out collecting stuff. Now creative mode I get, you can create some insane shit here and that’s awesome. But half the game still makes no real sense to me. Oh well, thanks for listening to my rant, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
