Dave Chappelle: Sticks and Stones

Dave Chappelle’s latest stand up has drawn some fire in case any of you haven’t noticed. People are pretty pissed at some of the stuff he said. It even currently has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes as I write this. Truthfully after watching it, I get why people are pissed. They don’t like having stuff pointed out to them that makes them uncomfortable, and they certainly don’t like their faults pointed out.

He attacks things such as Michael Jackson and R.Kelly and even takes a swing at cancel culture. For those that don’t know that is the practice of latching on to something someone did 15 or 20 years ago and trying to destroy their entire life. Sometimes it is even something minor that could be an honest mistake.

Nobody, however, is safe from his jokes, not white people or black and certainly not himself. This stand up was funny, but I do understand why people are upset because he does an excellent job at pointing out how a lot of what is going on is wrong or messed up. So go, enjoy it, be offended and have a few laughs. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sandwich?: the Ultimate Inquisition

sandwich

Here we come to another bone chilling look into the human mind full of twists, turns, and melodrama…oh and sandwiches. People like sandwiches.

Once again Billy Kraser, author of such short humor books as Sticks:A tool in Time , Stones: The Eternal Instrument , and Plenty of Cones: Universal Utilities , gives us another quick read sure for a few good laughs because, well, you just sat down and read a book pondering about the nature of sandwiches and that is some absurd shit. As I’ve said for the other books in this series, the humor isn’t for everyone and many will call it dumb but I always enjoy a good laugh so I recommend giving it a read and supporting a new author by dropping a link to this book and Billy’s GoFundMe for his new project. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Plenty of Cones: Universal Utilities

cones

We come to the thrilling end of Billy Kraser’s “Earth’s Instruments” trilogy and what mind blowing climx do we have to look forward to from the groundbreaking author of Sticks:A tool in Time and Stones: The Eternal Instrument . Will there be an epic battle for the fate of the universe? Will there be betrayal, murder, or the definitive answer to a love triangle?

The answer is…cones.

Yes, the final installment of this trilogy involves cones in our everyday life; my favorite cone is definitely a waffle cone, mm. As the rest of the series goes, it’s a fun, absurd, quick read that will make you laugh because..well it’s pretty insane to say you read a series about sticks, stones, and plenty of cones.  It’s worth a read as is the rest of the series and it’s well worth a read.

As I did in my review for Stones, I’m also posting a link for Billy’s GoFundMe for his new project. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Idiocracy (2006)

Idiocracy is the movie about a guy that is average in every possible way that is subject to an Army experiment gone 100% wrong. When the man in charge gets arrested for trying to run a prostitution ring the base is shut down and the project is lost, for about 500 years.

When Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson) wakes up with his fellow experiment victim, Rite (Maya Rudolph) he discovers a world where being completely average would make you the smartest person on Earth.

This seen kind of explains it all really. Brawndo is basically Gatorade by the way. The entire movie actually comes across as sort of a warning. It was funny in 2006 when I first saw it, but now it seems like more of a warning. The performances are great and the movie is hilariously funny but not in the traditional laugh out loud funny.

Most of the funny parts of the movie come from recognizing that many of these people are kind of realistic but in a greatly exaggerated way. Nobody is actually this stupid, but we all know that guy that just doesn’t get it.

The movie is well written and if you have Hulu is worth checking out this cult classic. It is far from perfect obviously, but it is thought-provoking and interesting and one of those hidden gems. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Stones: The Eternal Instrument

stones

Here we get book two of Billy Kraser’s “Earth’s Instruments” trilogy, the first being Sticks:A tool in Time . Once again, we get a brief but hilariously absurd look at stones, things we pretty much have been in contact with since we were born. There’s nothing informational here and you won’t learn any new facts but I found myself once again laughing that the book exists as the author intended. While the humor isn’t for everyone, some people will get a good laugh at a decent price and I do recommend checking it out on Amazon.

Also, I just want to take a second to put Billy’s Go Fund Me link below. Besides being a humor writer, Billy Kraser is also a friend and supporter of Saviorgaming and is raising money for his new project so some help would always be appreciated. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Addams Family trailer 2

I grew up loving the Addams Family like many others and it hurts a little that after 2 trailers this movie still isn’t clicking with me. While I think the cast is great, the fact the movie is animated kinda bugs me. While a lot of the jokes didn’t resonate with me, I think younger kids will like it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Little Monsters trailer 1

Just when I thought I’d seen every kind of Zombie story I could, we get this. Miss Caroline and her kindergarten class find some zombies during a field trip. I fully admit, this caught my eye over the trailer for Zombieland Double Tap . bHonestly this is a idea I’m surprised we really haven’t seen yet and I’m actually pretty excited for this movie. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Jojo Rabbit Trailer 1

Hey everyone, I’m back after a week of technical difficulties and I bring the most absurd trailer I found from my time away. Coming from the director of Thor: Ragnarok we get a bizarre WW2 movie about a boy and his pal Adolf…I can’t lie I laughed hysterically after watching the trailer just on the premise alone. That is truly a feat considering comedy trailers rarely hook me. It looks goofy but all in good fun. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

My 5 Wives (2001)

My 5 Wives is a 2001 comedy starring the late and great Rodney Dangerfield. The plot of the story is simple, in Nevada, there is a community where polygamy is still allowed. This is having multiple wives. (Yes this is a real thing) A friend of his tells him about some and up for auction that would be great for a ski resort. Being the super-rich businessman that he is going through his third divorce he goes to check it out and drops a few bucks to buy it. It isn’t until after he learns he must join the church in order to buy the land. With this comes the three wives of the former owner.

So while his sex life gets kicked up to a level he has never before experienced he donates money to the community, starts making plans for the ski lodge and runs into trouble with the local bank manager that wanted the land for himself. This bank manager will stop at nothing to get him excommunicated so he can have the land for himself. Not long into the movie, Rodney will marry one of his wife’s sister and her friend after their husband dies. They need a place to stay and this is the only way to make it happen.

While all this sounds like the male fantasy, and at the start is portrayed as such we quickly see why there are drawbacks and the ladies quickly see there are other ways to live their lives. While a comedy and a decently funny one if you are a fan of Rodney Dangerfields unique style the movie does a decent job of telling an actual story and by the end of the movie the ladies come into their own fairly well. The movie wasn’t a huge hit with critics and truthfully I can see why. This is one of those like it or hate it movies, and I can’t imagine anyone loving it. I enjoyed it for what it was but I am a fan of Mr. Dangerfield. If you aren’t however you may be better of skipping this one. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
