Just Cause 3

just cause 3

I was never really tried  this series and since it is free in the month of August on PlayStation plus I obviously needed to try. And outside of some major connection issues that don’t actually mess with game play anyway. The controls aren’t great, shooting isn’t very accurate and any car you drive handles like a tank. It also gets a bit repetitive but it is still fun. The ability to grappling hook yourself into the air switch to your chute to gain altitude then switch to a wing suit to fly is absolutely amazing.

The story is quite vague at first but isn’t bad, but I can’t deny the vast amount of my time was spent screwing around which I am not convinced isn’t the point of this game in the first place. While not the best game I have played recently it was without a doubt a fun experience, one i hope many of you will enjoy. Remember, while you are out there, may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Batman Vs Superman

BATMAN-SUPERMAN-1.jpg

I heard a lot of bad things about this movie before I ever saw it.  That being said some of it is exaggerated. Most of it was not. Jessie Eisenberg played his part well. The problem is he played a form of Luthor I don’t think ever existed, and if it did most people are unaware of it. Amy Adams had a performance that was uninspired to say the very least.

I do have to own up to the fact that Ben Affleck is probably the best batman/Bruce in decades, may even be the best not named Conroy.

The visuals were nice as was the music, but aside from that the plot was horrible and at times lacked any real sense to it. For example the very idea that anyone even knew to look for kryptonite? That’s not the sort of thing you stumble across.  I would suggest watching the movie tho as it is fun and entertaining but don’t think to much about it. If you do you will wonder how batman used machine guns to get the jump on superman but somehow wasn’t smart enough to use kryptonite bullets. As always thanks for your time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sword In The Storm

sword in the storm

Sword in the Storm is book one of the Rigante series by David Gemmell and is the story of Connovar, the son of a dead man many believe to be a coward. This drives him to do many foolish and downright stupid things at times, but like Legend that i discussed in a previews review it is the starting point for an entire world full of people, cities all with different morals and cultures.

This book will take Connovar on an adventure from childhood to being a young adult on his way to eventually becoming the leader of his people. You will meet a ton of different people including a witch and what is this worlds version of a god, tho there are many variations of them. This one grant wishes but those wishes won’t always turn out how you want and are rarely given away for free, sort of like an old school genie. This series however does have a set order to them and you really do need to stick with that order to truly understand the story. Thanks for your time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Civilization Revolution

civilization revoluton

Civilization Revolution is one of those games from a series that is mostly absent from consoles. In fact to my knowledge  there is this one and a PlayStation one version of civilization 2 on console. Now in case you live under a rock, civilization is a turn based simulation of what I would describe as the timeline of humanity. You pick a world leader and build a city or eventually multiple cities. You build libraries, barracks and other general city things as well as various types of troops. As time progresses and you discover new technologies you can build more advanced buildings are troops.

The game has more than one way to win, for example building a space ship and getting to the next solar system or capturing all the other civilizations capital cities.  There are also more world leaders than I care to mention. America has good ole Abe Lincoln and the Mongolians have Genghis Khan for example. Mostly its just famous people from their respective countries.

With all that being said this series  may be the king of just playing for a little longer turning into hours of game play,as always thanks for reading and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mega Man Collection PS4 Review

mega man collection

Oh Mega Man, you beautiful blue bastard. A long time ago, when I was a small kid,I got Mega man 3 for Christmas. That was my first of many experiences with Mega Man. This collection was a huge surprise for me as I didn’t know it existed until it was released.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection contains Mega Man 1 through 6 and also has a museum and a fun challenge mode. The experience hasn’t much changed in all these years. 1 is still fun but a complete pain in the ass, and 2 is still as magical as it has always been. That being said, these games are old, and they at times feel their age. The sound, while amazing on the nostalgia front, is still outdated, as are the graphics. This will be a great thing for many, but others may find it annoying. Personally, I loved it and will play it many more times, I’m sure. I highly recommend checking this out if you are either a retro gamer or simply a fan of gaming history.

Heavenstrike Rivals

maxresdefault.jpg

Heavenstrike Rivals is a mobile game from Square Enix that is, in a weird way, similar to Final Fantasy Tactics except not as fun or strategic. The game is plenty good enough. The story isn’t bad but it takes a backs seat to the combat. You use jems to summon troops to fight enemies on a grid that is only 3 squares down. The turn based system is pretty solid for a mobile game, but the best troops will sadly cost you some real money. It is by no means pay to win, it simply makes life easier. Thanks for reading, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Trek Online

star trek online

Star Trek Online is far from a perfect game. There are more than a couple glitches to run into, none of which are game breaking thankfully. The ground combat is stiff and doesn’t require much thought and sadly it does feature pretty prominently in the game. All that aside the number of ships to choose from are nice and varied and the ship to ship combat is fun and is the main the part of the game.

Another nice aspect is the random conflict zones in space, so when you need  break from the story campaigns that are pretty long at times they are a nice distraction. The ability to choose between more than one alliance with a number of races within each alliance to choose from. The ships are also pretty customization with different weapons, shields color schemes and much more. With all that I would only recommend this game to Star trek fans and the more hardcore MMO fans, sadly there just is not a lot here for the casual fans. Thanks for your time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

F.E.A.R

fear First Encounter Assault Recon; it’s kind of a stupid name but the acronym fits better : F.E.A.R. It’s a first person supernatural shooter that came out the beginning of the PS3 era. You play as Pointman, the new guy on the F.E.A.R team who deal with paranormal phenomenon. He has heightened reflexes and a strange connection to Paxton Fetel, a psychic psychopath with a small army of cloned replicants at his disposal. As Pointman gets closer to his target, he keeps getting followed by Alma, a projection of a young girl. What ties this all together? I admit, I think this game gets a little too much credit in the horror department but its still creepy full of dark atmospheres, eerie noises, and a few good jump scares. One of Alma’s last appearances is pretty chilling (just not the ending). The shooting is simple but trusty, but the true fun comes when using your adrenaline fueled reflexes to slow down time. Trust me when I say you will need to use this ability, your flashlight, and your ammunition wisely because it can all run out in a blink in a eye. My problem with the first F.E.A.R as well as the trilogy itself, I’m not really invested in the story. Much of the story has to be uncovered via files and answering machine tapes as well as radio broadcasts; as for characters, I got four characters and a couple of names. There’s a twist at the end that’s fairly disturbing but falls flatter than it should. Overall, the first F.E.A.R is worth a once over but that’s as far as it should go, so may the gaming gods guide you away from creepy ass Alma.

Final Fantasy 12 Review

FINAL-FANTASY-XII-THE-ZODIAC-AGE-Logo-Gaming-cypher.png

I have a history with this game going all the way back to its original PS2 release. I remember buying Dragon Quest 8 just because it came with the demo, and actually ended up really liking DQ8. I can not say the same for Final Fantasy 12. While I enjoyed the more adult and political story to it but that was about the end of it. The characters all seemed boring I hated the gambit system even tho it was very easy to use and very well explained. The battle system also left much to be desired as most fights until mid game can many times be beaten if you simply don’t touch anything. I can’t comment on much after that, I got so bored i stopped playing around the mid point 3 separate times. My two biggest complaints tho were the fact that there was very little reason to customize characters outside of weapons and armor every one ended up with every ability and spell in the game. My other complaint was the maps were huge but empty and took forever to navigate.

I took a chance on the PS4 version because my two biggest complaints were addressed. The new job system would create some variety and the new speed button lets me zoom around much quicker, 2 or 4 times faster to be precise.  And both are successfully done, the job system absolutely gives some variety and traveling around is easier than ever. If you were a fan of the original release you should absolutely pick this iteration up. That being said, if like me you found it boring and uninteresting these updates both graphical and overall improvements offer nothing to really change that view point. As always thanks for reading and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

From The Dark (2014l

from-the-dark.jpg

Every so often picking horror movies off Netflix completely and utterly bites me on the ass and I stumble across a movie so bad I feel like it will never end. This is one of those god forsaken movies I never should have watched. A couple on a trip in the middle of nowhere in the country of Ireland gets stuck in some mud and attempts to find help. What they find is an old country home with a man in need of help. Now everything about this has potential, especially if you happen to enjoy Irish lore and scenery. Sadly what it ends up being is a badly shot movie that some parts are so dark you can’t really see whats going on, even if it was just someone washing their hands. The acting itself feels stiff and the creature hunting them all night is not at all believable as a creature and seems to simply be some guy that’s a bit crazy. I truly can not recommend anyone watch this movie. Thanks for reading and may the gaming gods guide you to glory.
