I can’t tell you how pumped I am for this particular movie. Yes the end of the trailer has something pretty WTF hilarious in it but I’m still pumped. I’ll always love Michael Myers and he’ll always be my boogeyman. I can’t wait to see a Halloween movie on the big screen this year.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition

So, me and Savior have waited ages for this special re-release and I’m thrilled to join Shepherd’s epic quest to defend the universe from the Reapers in this sprawling trilogy. In the past I covered Mass Effect , Mass Effect 2 , and Mass Effect 3 and I still stand by those reviews. For the Legendary Edition, I wanted to talk about my experience with the remasters.
Mass Effect feels the most different of the trilogy and honestly, that’s for the better. Combat is improved with the cover mechanics and combat feels closer to the other games. While still not as tight and overheating weapons get annoying, having a better cover and squad mechanics evens the feeling out. Another huge change is the Mako drives much better and feels a lot less like a chore than before. Overall, Mass Effect got an overall upgrade but its not perfect.
Mass Effect 2 is still the best in the series in my opinion and besides the graphical upgrade, there isn’t much different but some censored content. Mainly the horrific imagery of Maelon’s work and the nudity of the romance scenes are pulled back. Besides that, still a fantastic sequel and game.
Mass Effect 3 is where I get pissed off, but not for the reasons you might think. I played the base, vanilla version of the game last generation and thought it was fair and enjoyable but damn their could’ve been more. Well, there was more- behind paid DLC. By more, I mean an epic shit ton. Huge chunks of lore were broken off from the game and sold seperately as well as a new teammate who adds immensely to the lore of the whole trilogy; in gameplay it adds up to about 6-8 additional hours of huge lore heavy content that clearly should’ve been in the main game but…money. I loved the content and enjoyed the full version of Mass Effect 3 than I did originally.
In the end, the trilogy is absolutely worth getting. I pumped a good 6 weeks into the trilogy and was never bored and as before, I can’t recommend it enough. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Karen trailer
We really did it, didn’t we. Oh no, we really did it. Karen got a movie, and it’s not an outlandish comedy. It looks like somebody thought Karen needed an actual thriller…and oddly, it makes it funnier than if they went for a full comedy. Well, I do want to watch it and watch it I will try to. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny Nintendo Switch Review
As always I want to thank the people over at NIS America for tossing me a review code for this one. Always a pleasure to be tossed a game to review and it’s an even bigger honor when it is a series I love.
Disgaea 6 is one of those bitter sweet games I get to play and share with you. In some ways for me, it is the epitome of the series, in others it is a huge step back. Graphically for example while still looking pretty good, it does look worse than 4 or 5 in my opinion, and at times the camera angles can be atrocious. Neither is a deal breaker tho, they are just things to be aware of.
There are things I absolutely love however. For example you can set up the game to auto fight battles and to replay them automatically, this means what can normally be a deep and painful grind at times to level up characters has become a simple matter of setting it up while you watch a movie and you can level up all the characters you want easily into the hundreds of even thousands.
For me this let me and even encouraged me to play sound with characters I usually never bothered with because by the time I unlocked them I was already pretty well set up. The addition of the juice bar is also beautiful. That essentially collects experience, mana and even actual stat points and you level up and do missions that you can then pay HL to in order to give levels, mana or even pure stats to anyone you want.
They have truly embraced much of what makes the Disgaea series what it is in all of it’s craziness of weird characters and insane stat boosting and numbers. This brings is down to the all important story, which honestly is essentially a low level zombie on a quest to destroy the god of destruction as he dies over and over again, well as much as a zombie can actually die. It’s put together nicely and I enjoy the characters and their names that are mostly bad puns or play on names.
This is far from the best game in the series because the low points are pretty low such as the graphics and the camera angles being a bit difficult to deal with at times, but the quality of life improvements left me wondering more than once how I played without them. As I fan of the series I was more than happy with this solid 7/10. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy reveal trailer
Oh dear…another Marvel cash grab. While I didn’t have much faith in the Avengers game, Guardians isn’t really filling me with much faith either. I got serious Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale series flashbacks here and the gameplay we got to see didn’t wow me what so ever. Hopefully I can be wrong, but time will tell. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer
Well folks, at least this isn’t a tired old WWII FPS but a pseudo futuristic FPS. Long ago, I adored the Battlefield series. Now I lost faith and interest and honestly I feel like 2042 looks too much like a C.O.D game from a few years back. I’m hoping, I really am, but those hopes are pretty slim. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora reveal trailer
So I find it super weird we got something about this game, something I didn’t know existed until E3 than that fabled Avatar 2 no one really gives a rat’s ass about anymore. Seriously, isn’t this series about a decade too late? Nothing about what I saw seemed great but the question is will the old fans still care after a decade of inactivity in the franchise? May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Metroid: Dread reveal trailer
First of all, I always had a high respect for the Metroid series, as a fan of the Prime games of yester-year. It’s extremely cool that not only is Samus returning but she’s returning with a classic 2-D adventure that seriously looks awesome. I’m glad to see this badass Nintendo icon returning, may the gaming god’s bring you glory.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands reveal trailer
Wow, admittedly I’m really surprised. While I pictured the Borderlands series coming to a close, I’m pretty excited to play Bunkers and Badasses with Tina again. I’m incredibly excited to see what becomes of it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Saviors of Sapphire Wings / Stranger of Sword City Revisited
As always first and foremost, huge thank you to NIS America for tossing me a code to review this one. I am well aware it comes with two seperate games, both are fun in their own right but I will be reviewing Saviors of Sapphire Wings first. Stranger of Sword City (originally The Stranger in Alda) while worth playing is an older title that deserves it’s own review and playthrough and I felt it would be wrong to try to do them both at the same time.
Saviors of Sapphire Wings starts out weird compared to many games because you actually start out at the end of your previous adventure, and you will fail miserably. Not the kind where you get laughed off stage at the 6th grade talent show failed, the not quite as bad but still horrible die and the world falls into darkness failed.
That is essentially the story of this adventure. You will be reincarnated? Reawakened? Pick a word, because you are back to give the saving the world thing another try. As you recruit more people to help you and awaken a long sleeping flying castle that was apparently yours and you forgot how to use. Cook meals to get to know your new friends (they all have favorite dishes) and boost how close you are because if you don’t, they will be open to the big evils influence. Seems like that is where you messed up last time.
The combat is typical turn based stuff and is honestly so repetitive and slow. There is an option to basically fast forward all the moves, I recommend you use that. All the enemies will have weaknesses and strengths just like you and you can pick classes and sub classes for everyone each with different moves and strengths and weaknesses as well.
The first person dungeon crawling aspect of it is also well done and I do appreciate the map and how easy it is to get around. That being said, it is still a grid based first person dungeon crawler. I’d you aren’t a fan of these games, this won’t change that. The battles are repetitive and slow even by RPG standards (and remember I love RPGs, especially turn based) the story pretty much offers nothing we haven’t seen before, but thankfully the characters are very well done and are mostly likeable. One or two are pretty much impossible to like but they are made that way.
As for a score, gonna have to go 6/10. Any RPG needs a passable story, fun combat and interesting characters and truth be told the characters are the strong part here and the story is passable, but the combat really drags it down for me. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
