All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is a horror, slasher, killer movie that starts out okay enough. It has some potential. Many was apparently some less than beautiful girl who suddenly became hot over a summer and got the attention of the all boys in school. After being invited to a party and insisting on bringing her long time friend. After one of the jocks hits on Mandy and gets a little to touchy her friend shots him with a squirt gun and a small fight follows.

Later her friend Emmett ends up on the roof with the Jock and convinces him to jump on an attempt to impress Mandy. He misses the pool, cracks his skull and dies. Yes I realize this chain of event makes very little sense that two high school guys that got into a fight over a girl would suddenly become friends, try to help each other get the girl. Only believable part is a drunk kid missing the pool.

The movie fast forwards a bit, Mandy and Emmett aren’t friends anymore because honestly who would stay friends with this psycho? This is when for some reason that is never actually explained there is a party at a ranch. This is where the death happens, which honestly is pretty underwhelming. Worse yet the story itself is essentially everyone is obsessed with one girl, the killer is exactly who you think it is with a small twist at the end and even that twist is essentially easy to see coming. The movie is entertaining, but far from good. Check it out, but don’t expect a life changing experience. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Our Favorite Movies Day 15: Bram Stokers Dracula

images

Day 15, and my last day of doing this I am ended with a classic. After today our good friend  @torstenvblog will be taking over. The ending to this, Dracula.  The movie was made in 1992 but the story goes back far longer Dracula is of course the story of, well here. Check this out if you need to know more about the story. The story of Dracula is a classic and has been around for more than 100 years and will be around for 100 more I am sure. The movie is scary, had a great art and music style to it and it is also the first movie my parents banned me from the room for. What my mother doesn’t know is my father watched that movie with me and my bro when mom went to work later in the week making it also the first time I am aware of my dad went behind my moms back to show us something. That is why this made my list, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

She’s Out of My League (2010)

download (1)

We have all met people who were out of our league. But what would happen if you ended up dating that person? That is the story of Kirk(Jay Baruchel) and Molly (Alice Eve) Molly will end up dating Kirk. Molly is a 10 and he is a 5, tops. The story is as you would expect full of friends telling Kirk it won’t work and why and even Molly has a friend saying the same thing. Ex’s show up, both crazy and one even thinks Kirk is gay.

The movie is as you would expect for a romantic comedy quite funny considering he works for the TSA and she is a party planner. Admittedly if I ever found out that is how working for the TSA really was, I would apply that day. So if anyone reading this works for them and has seen this movie and can confirm, let me know.

All that being said while the movie is fun, the acting great and the soundtrack surprisingly well done the movie isn’t perfect. Kirks family and even every ex in the movie is nothing more than a stereotype and we all know how much of a pet peeve that is for me. Come on, put some effort into this guys.  That being said, if you like romantic comedies check this one out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Our Favorite Movies Day 14: Poltergeist

download (2)

Here are on day 14, this is weirdly one of the few movies on the list we have never reviewed. This isn’t about truly reviewing the movies for me, but a real quick run down the little girl in this picture gets taken by a poltergeist and the family tries to save her.  The line most people know from this movie is “They’re here.” The movie itself is pretty great, as many 80’s movies were tho many were pretty horrible. This one is remembered fondly because of how great it was. That is actually why it’s on the list. I also remember this one fondly because I actually saw it for the first time with my mother, and as far as i remember is the first one I saw with her. So definitely check this one out, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Our Favorite Movies Day 13: Hellraiser

download

Hellraiser Movie review is our day 13 movie, and why? Well its got pinhead. This movie revolves around solving a puzzle. The movie itself is quite cliché but Clive Barker made it quite brutal and is an amazing 80’s movie. This classic is worthy of this spot on the list, tho sadly the later films in the series are less than good. If you are a horror fan tho there are very few must see films, but this is on the list. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

I found a box trilogy on Amazon for those that love the series and want to support us. Feel free to check that out.

Our Favorite Movies Day 11: IT (2017)

It (2017) Yes I will say it, feel free to hate me. IT 2017 is far better than the original. I thought this when I checked out 2017 in the theaters, but recently I went back and watched the original and it was legitimately painful to watch. 2017 made this list for being both a great movie and a movie that surprised me most recently. I thought this movie was going to be horrible. From the fact it would be split in 2 to not Tim being Pennywise made this a recipe for a bad movie. What we got however was an amazing movie any horror fan would be doing themselves a disservice skipping. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Like we have been doing lately, here is a link to Amazon where you can purchase this movie. It helps us as well as gets you the movie. It 2017 on Amazon

Our Favorite Movies Day 10:Birds(1963)

Alfred Hitchcock made quite the simple movie here. Birds for some reason attack people. The magic of this movie is that we have all seen birds just hanging out, and I dare you to watch this movie and not wonder if those birds sitting on your cloths line or power line are going to kill someone.

That is why this classic is on the list for me. It was probably the first horror movie I have seen that made me think in the real world this stuff could happen. And I know @torstenvblog in real life, we hang out and drink together, and have worked together at real life jobs. The dude is semi afraid of birds and I mean that legitimately. Not like outside terrified of them, but he got one in his house and me and 2 other friends had to go over to his house and get them out. His reasoning was he saw Birds. That is a 100% true story that happened this summer, and that is why this movie deserves to be on the list. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Our Favorite Movies Day 9: Jason Goes To Hell

Jason goes to Hell: the Final Friday Is our day 9 favorite horror movie. It is also another movie that is a damn liar when it comes to the title. Tho this movie made the list because for me the ending was iconic and was really our first confirmation that a Freddy Vs Jason (Jason’s side) would actually happen. Just seeing Freddy’s hand rip Jason’s mask down to hell to me was amazing. Me and friends used to debate as kids who would, and that was the first time we saw them together in any capacity. The movie itself was also pretty solid but the ending? That secures it a place from me. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Worst Horror Movie I’ve Seen, 11/11/11

Every so often I see a bad movie. Its kind of the nature of the beast, I also occasionally play some real crap games. It happens and I accept that. It isn’t very often I see a movie i consider a complete waste of time tho. This one tho, probably takes the cake in the shit sandwich department. Seriously, this thing has a huge 7% on rotten tomatoes and I feel that might be way to high. If you care about the god awful story you can read about it on Wikipedia but I don’t even suggest that. It is about as cliché as it comes and revolves heavily around the date being 11/11/11, no longer believing in god, a child being the Antichrist and I am fairly sure there was an Indian burial ground in there as well.

The acting, the script the whole movie was just bad. There really weren’t any redeeming qualities to speak off, just don’t watch this movie. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Our Favorites Day7: Scream

Scream is the 1996 Wes Craven movie that spawned a sort of resurgence in horror movies for a bit. It wasn’t the best horror movie of the 90’s, but it was possibly the most popular. This is part of why it makes the list. The movie itself while good and maybe even great, it is what it represents that is important. Horror movies weren’t dead or anything like that but people were losing interest. Along came scream, renewing the main stream interest. I remember being in school and people who never even discussed horror movies talking about it. This was really the first time I remember people being that excited over a single horror movie, and that is why this made the list. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
