Be Afraid (2017)

I have seen a few of these sleep paralysis movies lately and I am forced to admit this one is very well done. The movie doesn’t do anything great, but it also does not do anything badly. The characters are pretty well written the story while standard was also pretty good.

The usual applies here. Family moves to a small town, town has weird things happen, little girl was missing yada yada yada. We have all seen it before. Son comes home from college meets local girl. All standard affair.

Where the movie really shines is that you believe this small town is simply a small town with no real secrets. Even the town drunk seems to be just a father distraught over the loss of a kid. But alas nothing is as it seems. The sleep paralysis that will soon plague a select few and the strange dreams are no dreams but creatures with a nefarious and unclear plot of their own. Not a movie for everyone but worth a watch. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Babysitter (2017)

The new movie from Netflix was not quite what I was expecting. The story is of a kid named Cole and his babysitter that happens to be one of his best friends and object of his 12 year old affections. And why wouldn’t she be? She is smart, attractive and protects him from bullies.

Inevitably as babysitters will do she invites friends over after Cole goes to bed. Curious as to what goes on (his close friend suggest orgy which he of course googles) he sneaks to the top of the stairs and discovers normal shenanigans. Spin the bottle, kissing, stabbing a guy with two knives in the head and collecting the blood… Well normal for a cult. What follows is a tale of gruesome and exaggerated death, love and coming of age and a randomly placed but awesome car wreck. Any fan of horror comedy will enjoy this one but fair warning, the movie is not for everyone. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Stranger Than Fiction (2000)

This movie actually reminds me of an old 80’s movie. A group of friends go to the bar one night for drinks, egg a guys car that screwed over a friend at work and go home. Turns out one of them went to a gay bar picked a guy up. He got a bit rough and in self defense gets killed. In an attempt to help their friend they try to hide the body.

Driving to a foundry to destroy the body they run over a homeless man. Yup. That happens. After going to a wedding with the bodies in the trunk of a car it turns out the homeless guy isn’t dead, but the car gets towed.

Trying to get the car back a man in the garage attempts to blackmail them into giving them money and they kill him. Eventually they finally get rid of the bodies to discover an old lady neighbor knows. She also ends up dead but it is debatable whether or not that was natural causes or murder. The movie itself is quite strange but entertaining. It may also just be the ramblings of a writer in a bar, but is it a work of fact or fiction? Only one way to find out. Give it a watch and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla

This actually may be my least favorite Godzilla movie. It wasn’t so much bad as it was weird. The basic story is after the Godzilla Vs Mothra movie some of their genetics got into space, weird space things happened, and Spacegodzilla was created. They tossed in a baby zilla and a baby Mothra some flying robot with a drill. It was just all over the place.

Some psychics tried to control Godzilla with their powers. Another guy wanted to kill him. It just seemed like there was far to much going on.

The fight scenes however were pretty awesome and I have to admit the monster looked pretty cool. As I said, probably my least favorite Godzilla movie but still not really a bad movie. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Zoombies (2015)

I gotta be honest here. I have no idea how to score this movie. The idea was pretty damn original all things considered. All the zombies were animals from a zoo dedicated to endangered species of animals. I love them combining to things people are passionate about, animals and endangered species. That being said it fell into this weird spot where it was a campy B- Horror movie that was trying way to hard not to be what it was. Now anyone that follows my blog knows I LOVE those types of movies, but they have to be done right and this one, well it was hit and miss.

It has a fun goofy premise, but it randomly tries to be serious at random times then skips back at random to being goofy. For example the little girl having a tea party with her stuff animals discovers her koala bear has been replaced with a zombie koala. The scene gets real serious and when we go back to the little girl she somehow ripped this thing in half. Cool goofy fun…but no-one ever mentions this again. It is just accepted that this little girl did this. We then move on. I can happily accept a goofy B-Horror movie or a serious one. But please don’t mix and match. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Almost Human (2014)

This movie had a cool premise. A guy watches his friend get sucked up by a light, guns to another friends house where some lights go out, there is lights in the sky, strange noises and boom another person sucked up into the sky.

Two years later a series of grisly murders take place and Seth believes his friend is some how connected. You won’t get to many exciting or surprising moments in this movie nor will you see anything new. That being said you also won’t have a reason to be disappointed with it either. I won’t say to watch this one, but I can’t recommend you skip it either. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you greatness.

Cabin Fever (2002)

This movie always seemed to be a cult classic with me. A lot of people seemed to hate it and the ones that don’t seem to love it.

A group of college kids rent out a cabin for the week to party, get laid and unwind. It doesn’t take long for all hell to break loose. An obviously very sick man shows up wanting help and not wanting to be infected they drive him off and accidentally set him on fire. Unknown to them he puts himself out by diving into what is the areas water supply.

As the infection spreads people start turning on each other and the local towns people attempt to kill them. The visuals aren’t but the acting is good enough and while not the scariest movie it is still solid. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Don’t Kill It (2017)

Don’t Kill It on the surface is a typical demon movie and honestly it never truly goes much deeper. Dolph Lundgren plays a demon hunter but there is a small twist. He is responsible for letting this demon escape and the demon jumps from host to host in an unusual way. Anytime someone kills the host that person becomes the new host. The story while not very original is pretty well done and Dolph as always is fun to watch. While this may not be the best movie out there, I don’t see any reason to avoid it. Go enjoy it and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Ghoulies 2 (1987)

My friend that requested the first Ghoulies movie will be taking the blame on this one too. Not because he requested this one but simply because i wasn’t going to review one and not the other. Now this one was slightly better. Visuals weren’t bad acting was still solid, and this time our little demons escaped to a carnival called Hells Den where the ran rampant in the haunted house, killed a few people and were they themselves defeated.

I wish this was a joke. They kill these lil bastards by summoning a bigger demon to show up and eat them. It looks like the others. Just bigger. Then they stiff a Molotov cocktail into a midgets gorilla suit, get him to eat it and he explodes…yup. I’m done. Don’t even care if there is a third one. May the gaming gods bring you glory, and may they make sure no one ever sees this movie.

Ghoulies (1985)

Until the other day I had never heard of this movie, and I really didn’t know two of them existed. An ex good friend of mine requested I review it. I say ex because a real friend would not have asked me to watch this movie.

That may be a little harsh, the sound and visuals for a movie made in the 1980’s weren’t bad and I have no complaints about the acting, but the story was just so damn stupid. Basically a dude tried to sacrifice is son and mom stops him. Years later he inherited the house, discovers a bunch of stuff including that he can summon little demon creatures and seemingly make it rain in his basement. While the idea sounds good it just wasn’t. The twist at the end when they revive his dad from the dead whom tries to sacrifice his son to the devil in return for eternal life isn’t much a twist nor did it save the movie from being mediocre at best. May the gaming gods bring you glory, and may the have mercy on my friends soul for this movie.
