Conan Exiles (PS4)

I picked up Conan Exiles for the low price of my friend wanted someone to play with and bought it for me, so this entire venture was no risk for me. This is good because honestly, this game is the quintessential example of mixed feelings. This will become clear on why soon enough, so I will do something I rarely do. I will break this down very strictly into things I like and things I don’t.

To start, the things I like. The map is an impressive size and is full of things to do. You can explore, kill monsters and animals, mine various resources and build massive buildings or small little huts. The weapon selection is impressive as well, swords, axes, spears, throwing axes and daggers. Probably more I just forgot to mention. You have all kinds of armors and shields to go along with them, and they have various looks and styles.

You also get to choose your own religion to follow, each god with their own preferred method of worship, even a cannibal. One also does nothing for you really, simply doesn’t much care about any of you. Graphically the game is nice as well. Another great thing is that you can adjust almost any option, from experience gained to how much materials you will get from mining. And none of it messes with trophies.

Now for what I don’t like. Also, the things I don’t like, I REALLY do not like. For starters, the glitches are numerous. There is such an insane amount of lag during online multiplayer with friends. To the point, it was almost unplayable at times. I have been attacked by invisible creatures that would later show up, had entire fights with creatures I could not damage that would suddenly drop dead. Mining rocks and ores that simply wouldn’t do anything and I would need to move along only to return to the same spot 10 seconds later and be just fine.

The crafting menu is also a mess, finding anything is a pain, selecting feats is annoying and many times won’t even register until you back out and reenter the menus. Also, many times when killing things and trying to harvest them it simply didn’t work, at all.

All in all the game is one of the best survival games on PS4, but I imagine it is lacking quite a bit of content on PC. The game is also rather buggy and certainly not worth the full price tag. However, if you can pick it up for around $25, its worth the buy. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Occupation (2018)

Occupation is the story of an alien invasion gone right, at least for the aliens. The movie starts out in a small town where people are pissed over an overpass being built, and it isn’t long before they have an entirely new problem. At a towns I believe rugby game, I am not sure since it takes place in Australia and I know nothing about their sports. Could be Aussie rules football I suppose.

The alien attack comes from nowhere, and their armor is damn near impenetrable and their weapons are far more advanced. This scene is full of explosions and death, which is quite honestly a rather good scene and sets things up nicely for an underdog story.

The rest of the movie is primarily a story of guerrilla warfare against the alien occupation with occasional infighting amongst our heroes about how to handle things, such as one captured alien that serves no purpose except to reveal through a map they have been watching humanity for thousands of years and when one man beats it to death a few get pissed off.

The entire movie poorly developed, all the characters are mundane and never really grow. But here is the thing, if you like action films, and I mean old school action films full of explosions and passable routine stories, this film is for you. Seriously check out its Rottentomotatoes scores. It has an abysmal 38% from critics but a massive 94% from audiences. This is the perfect example of a movie that critically may not be the best written or put together, but damn is it fun to watch. Action fans will want to see it, but most others will find it overly long and ambitious with not much to offer. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

via My Time At Portia is Coming Soon to the Epic Games Store — STUBBORN| FUTURE OF MOBILE GAMING

Tropico 6 Delayed Until March

We all know I am a huge fan of the Tropico series and love Kalypso Media. They have supplied me with a few games, in fact. So it is both sad and refreshing to see they delayed Tropico 6 because they feel the game isn’t as good as it should be. Gameinformer has more info, but the short version is Simon Hellwig, owner, and director, says while he played many hours of the game and he likes it that isn’t enough, he wants to love it. So while waiting sucks, we will have to wait until March to take a stab at being a dictator. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen To The Switch

Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen has been around awhile, to say the least. 2012 I believe, on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It also ended up on PC, PS4 and One X as Dark Arisen the same game and all of its DLC. Now come this April the owners of the Nintendo Switch will get the chance to enjoy it. Check the trailer out, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Preparing For Distant Worlds 2

So I may have mentioned Elite Dangerous Distant Worlds 2 Decision once or twice, and it has been a bit of a time getting ready. I am outfitting my Asp Explorer formerly known as Meat Paste for the trip.

I have since changed the ships name and colors, specifically for the trip. I wanted something better than simple black for the pictures. I also am working on upgrading my jump distance. While I have plenty enough for the trip every little bit helps tho I have had some setbacks there. The new system doesn’t always match the old engineer system so I lost a bit of range at first, but I recovered that.

While gathering materials I did lose my Krait, and now I no longer have the rebuy cost to fly it so now it just sits and chills. This will, however, be the longest trip I have made, tho I have gone to Sagittarius A.

I have also gone to Elite Dangerous: Colonia which was a random trip that I decided to make it one-day cuz I am an idiot. That is also how I ended up with a ship called Meat Paste, I streamed the whole thing and the chat voted on Meat Paste, which @torstenvblog suggested. This will be my last post on the subject depending on what happens when the trip launches on Sunday, after that however I will be posting weekly updates on how the trip goes as well as posting occasional pictures on Twitter and Pinterest. Until then hower, stay safe and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

PS4 Passes 90 Million Units Sold — BeardedGamer82 Gaming Blog

PS4 Passes 90 Million Units Sold Kenichiro Yoshida, CEO of Sony, announced at Sony’s Press Conference at CES that the PS4 has sold 91.6 million consoles. These sales numbers were helped by a strong 2018 holiday season which saw 5.6 million consoles sold. This is a phenomenal number which skyrocketed it further from Xbox 360 […]

via PS4 Passes 90 Million Units Sold — BeardedGamer82 Gaming Blog

This should surprise nobody at this point as the PS4 has been a powerhouse in the sales department for years now, and most likely 2019 will be the year the console tops the 100 million mark. Not only that it may very well surpass the Wii and original PlayStation. Tho the PS2 and it’s 155 million is most likely out of reach with talk of the PlayStation floating around. Regardless, not too shabby. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Aquaman Officially DCEU Highest Grossing Movie

It seems like only yesterday I was saying Aquaman would outsell Wonderwoman and pointing out I was right. Aquaman Officially Passes Wonder Woman in Sales Well turns out Aquaman has outsold all movies in the  DCEU, as reported by Cinemablend, Aquaman worldwide has cleared 900 million worldwide. With it not even being done, it may very well be the first DCEU movie to hit the 1 billion dollar mark. (which may happen before this even post) Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Lucifer Season One

With Lucifer on Netflix, I decided it was time to revisit one of my favorite shows on television. I have a few times visited the difference between Lucifer: Comic Compared to Show and even did a Lucifer 1-3 Impressions but I never really look at each one individually. So this is season one.

The show starts with Lucifer (Tom Ellis) being pulled over by a police officer. This is where we discover that Lucifer Morningstar has the uncanny ability to get people to confess their deepest desires. He uses this to get out of his ticket.

Throughout this season Lucifer will make friends with Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and even manages to get himself onto the police force as her partner, as a sort of civilian consultant. This leads to all sorts of interesting cases where he helps solve murders, as well as him smoking pot at a crime scene which is rather humorous.

The show itself is well written and entertaining, possibly one of the best on television, tho I suppose now it is accurate to say it is one of the best-written shows on Netflix. It is however vastly different from the comics. Weirdly the show also drew harsh criticisms from the group One Million Moms that tried to get the show canceled before it ever aired claiming it was dangerous for it to even exist, tho thankfully that failed miserably. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Possible Fantastic Four Video Game Teased

In a sentence I thought I would never type, or maybe hoped since I personally am not a fan, Comicbook.com is reporting that Marvel is teasing a Fantastic Four video game. Feel free to check the link for all the details but for me, this just seems like a bad idea with much of the goodwill with fans outside the comic world seemingly lost with the atrocity that is the Fantastic Four movies.

That isn’t to say a game with them can’t be good, I can imagine smashing away as The Think or burning the world up with The Human Torch. I just can’t in good conscience think hey this will be good after having sat through the movies, and while yes the game clearly will be made by someone else entirely I just can’t be excited by this idea. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
