Elite Dangerous: My Journey Home

As some of you may be aware I made the epic or maybe horrible choice not long ago to travel to Colonia in one day. It took just under 14 hours. More on that trip here. Elite Dangerous: Colonia

The journey home I was a bit more methodical about and took my time, and even visited some of new stations they added along the way such as the one shown in the picture inside of a nebula, hence the red lighting. From Colonia to there I made about 30 million in exploration money. Could have done better but I am trying to combine making some cash with getting home in a decent amount of time.

Now like most explorers are prone to doing I chose to land on a random moon to take my SRV out for a spin, break up the travel a bit, find some new materials and such. Tho while streaming and chatting with a friends I sort of messed up a bit and landed hard, LIke real hard, my shields failed instantly and my hull dropped to 28%. So i drove around a bit, found some stuff and went back to that station for repairs before heading back out on my journey home. Probably not my best move. Warframe (Ps4)

Warframe is one of those free games on PlayStation everyone said hey savior play, sp I downloaded it and then didn’t touch it for months. Then they kept saying hey join us. Then I found other stuff to play and again I got messages on Facebook from friends. So I broke down and played it. I now regret waiting so long. The idea is actually pretty simple. You awaken as someone attempts to force you into helping them and you fight back. What follows is the typical MMO stuff. Kill stuff and you grind for new gear and items and do various missions. Unlike the others I have played tho, you are essentially a ninja. My character for example shoots people with arrows throws knives and stabs people with a sword. A friend has a shotgun that basically staple guns people to walls and another guy I gamed with for awhile could create this bubble that we could shoot out of but people could not shoot into. The different frames all have different abilities.

There are all sorts of things to collect and power up that you can equip on your frames and weapons, which actually seems to be the best way to power yourself up and make a massive difference in the game. At the price of “free” it is a must play game, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Details (2011)

The Details is an odd movie in the sense that it is a comedy, but not really in that ha ha this is funny sense, but more in the huh, its funny how things work out sense. The movie starts out with a doctor having the grass in his yard fixed. Just a regular guy, with a regular wife and child. Sure the usual marriage problems are present and the day to day stuff is going on. Everything is pretty average tho. The next morning he wakes up to discover the new grass is messed up and he sets out to discover why, and the answer is a raccoon.

Everything in this movie can be traced back to this. One mans desire to fix his lawn and a raccoon doing raccoon things for food. One mans choice will change the lives of families. I won’t give away the details since obviously it would spoil the entire movie since the entire plot revolves around what happens after this. The movie is far from perfect, but then again so is life and the movie does an excellent job at showing that even with the best intentions things can easily go very differently than one would want. There are some good laughs to be had as well, but the real bread and butter of this movie is simply that on some level you will both love and hate the characters while empathizing with them. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is both vastly different from the first and yet quite similar to the first. It starts out with an epic battle to protect, oddly enough, batteries from a huge creature. Yes they are being paid, and as this goes on baby Groot is dancing and proves he may be the cutest little hero to ever exist. After all this they receive payment for a job well done and leave, but of course Rocket Raccoon steals some of the batteries and all hell breaks loose.

The story itself is sort of an origin story of sorts for Star Lord as you will learn more about his mom and meet his dad. While the movie is as well made and beautiful as the first and easily just as funny if not more, the story itself for me was not as good. It lacked that same level of excitement and had quite a few down trends where it wasn’t very exciting or even interesting. The movie is good, don’t get me wrong. Any fan of the Marvel movies will enjoy it, but don’t expect it to be as amazing as the first. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Guardians of the Galaxy is the story of, well i’m not sure you can call them heroes since they are mostly criminals. But hey let us for the sake of argument call them heroes. Any way after stealing a mysterious orb earthling Peter Quill also known as Star Lord is thrown together with others to form The guardians of the Galaxy in order fend of Ronan The Accuser and his attempts to take over everything. The movie itself is hilarious and well made tho it is far from perfect.

The most amazing part of the whole thing honestly is that a comic serious that most people outside the comic world really knew nothing about was so well received and loved by many. For me personally when I heard Batista the professional wrestler was going to be in the movie I had very little hope it would be any good but damn was I wrong. Ash vs Evil Dead (series)

I came late to the party on this one and just recently caught up on seasons one and two. Rather than doing each season by itself I figured I would just give my thoughts on the series in general.

Only counting the movies this is based around the last one came out in the early 90’s, and for those not old enough to really know the first Evil Dead is pretty much the definition of a movie that was made and became a cult classic that nobody could have seen coming. I can’t imagine they made this thinking ” Ok guys thats a wrap, lets sit back and wait to make a couple million, a few sequels and in about 30 years a television show.” I mean maybe that happened but I seriously doubt it.

Later movies took on a much less serious tone and I think thats because by the time I saw Evil Dead I thought the movie was hilarious not scary. Fast forward to Ash vs Evil Dead. This show is stupid, ridiculous and serves absolutely no purpose. And I can not wait for season 3. If you said hey Savior what would you want in an Evil Dead television show, this would be it. The entire show is based around Ash doing mostly stupid stuff, hitting on women, getting drunk, and killing deadites in gory and ridiculous ways. One of my favorite lines is him driving along yelling about how maybe he shouldn’t be driving and he may not have a fancy license from the DMV but at least he is drunk. Numerous times he will talk about how things can’t get worse and this always means things will get worse. Any fan of the old movies will like this show. Sadly it is also one of the most illegally downloaded shows out there, so please, it is on Netflix, go watch it there. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Romancing Saga 2 (Xbox One)

Romancing Saga 2 was originally released in December 1993 in Japan and took forever to come to America, in fact as far as I can find, this is it. But was it worth the wait? Honestly unless you are a HUGE JRPG fan the answer is no. The game isn’t bad, it just isn’t great. The story is actually being told by a bard in a tavern, and that story can change depending on choices you make and characters you choose as the linage of your kingdom changes. This aspect is nice and even now is not something you see often. Many times tho this makes it feel like you are simply starting the game over a bunch of times rather than progressing towards beating 7 heroes. The game is fun and interesting and for any JRPG fan its worth playing for both the history of it and the experience of such a unique title, but it is far from being one of the better games of the early 90’s or of the genre. Bright (2017)

Bright is another Netflix movie that I really need to stop underestimating. The movie of course isn’t perfect, and Will Smith basically just played Will Smith again as he always does. The story is also quite predictable to the point that I knew the ending about 30 minutes in and that is never a good thing.

All that aside the movie has a pretty original idea for movie in this day and age. Instead of the usual cop movie on Earth we have an Earth where humans orcs and elves all exist side by side, but in a rather nice twist they always have. Magic is greatly condemned however as about 2000 years ago a dark figure attempted to conquer the world using it. The orcs are basically regulated to being viewed as 3nd class citizens because they sided with the dark one. It is also quite implied that racism doesn’t exist so much as discrimination against species does, where Elves see themselves superior everyone and orcs being pretty much the lowest and humans somewhere in the middle.

Will Smith returns to work with his partner that happens to be the first ever orc police officer which you can imagine does not make the other police happy, all of which are human. Will Smiths character is also not happy since he was shot on duty while his partner bought a burrito and the suspect escaped. No the movie is not perfect, but the action is nice and for those that care to look it is quite thought provoking, but not in your face thought provoking. It is all pretty subtle while the actual story of them attempting to stop rogue elves from recovering a magic wand to revive the dark one to take over the world. This one is worth a watch, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

My Game of the Year for 2017

Everyone has a choice for game of the year 2017, some are obvious some are not. Obviously I can only choose from games I have personally played (sorry Nintendo) and for me there is only one possibility, and only one game that would come close to a 10/10 score (tho i’d never give a 10/10 that implies perfect and perfect doesn’t exist) and that game is Persona 5. The game was beautiful, had an amazing story the sound was top notch. But there is one thing this game has that many other amazing games just didn’t match up to. You could easily log over 100 hours into persona 5 playing the game normally and not finish it. There were a lot of great games in 2017, but for me there was just no other choice. You guys know the routine, I always like to skip reviewing stuff to give you guys a more personal message before a holiday. I wrote this one in advance tho because honestly, may be a bit busy with the kids which is code for savior may be way to drunk to type. Don’t worry tho, I always stay home and never drive. Seriously guys this year has been a blast and next year I am sure will be even more amazing. So while you guys are out tonight just a little advice from me to you. Ladies, watch you drinks. Never leave them unattended. Watch out for your friends, both male and female. and above all else, stay safe out there. Drink plenty of water tonight before you go out and have a Gatorade or something for in the morning. It helps with hangovers.
