Comix Zone

Comix Zone is as beautiful as its ever been, and the idea of being trapped inside of a comic book was excellent. The controls on this one aren’t bad but are far from being the best that Sega Forever has offered. The game was always a challenge and now may be even harder. Its nor impossible however and should not stop fans of the game from playing. Now get out there and enjoy, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Revenge of Shinobi

The Revenge of Shinobi (known as Shinobi 2:The Revenge) is the typical 80’s ninja revenge story.

The sound is top notch and the visuals are solid as well. Honestly the game is a challenge and not because of the controls. While like the other games from Sega Forever the controls are a bit stiff, they don’t take away from the experience. It is really worth checking out just for the retro feel. I enjoyed my time with it and it is good to kill some time. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Golden Axe

Golden Axe is the story of 3 heroes , a dwarf, a warrior and an amazon as they seek revenge against Death Adder whom took over their once peaceful land.

The visuals are good for a cell phone game. The controls are passable but a little stiff for my taste but other than that it is a pretty great port for any one that either missed the original or just want to play it over again.

Sega Forever is doing a great job releasing these games on mobile and while all of them aren’t what I would have preferred it is still an excellent selection. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Altered Beast

Sega Forever continues to release more and more games, and Altered Beast is a welcomed addition. Visually it is solid and while the controls aren’t as fluid as I would like they are do the job.

The story is a bit aged, taking place in ancient Greece Zues revives our hero in order to save his daughter Athena and grants you the ability to transform into various creatures such as a wearwolf. While I am sure many have already played this game, if you want to revisit it and need a quick way to kill some time this will do the job. Best wishes, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Final Fantasy 10: first impressions

ffx1

So first I gotta say I’m not finished with the game yet, actually Savior told me i’m not even half way done yet but I wanted to talk about my experience  so far. Many, many- ok so pretty much all of my friends that game are huge Final Fantasy fans. I’ve never played one before so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I got to say I love this game. In a nutshell…so far…Final Fantasy 10 is the story of a famous blitz-ball player named Tidus from the metropolis of Zanarkand. During a huge game, a massive beast called Sin attacks Zanarkand and Tidus gets thrown into another time and a journey to aid young beautiful summoner Yuna and her guardians Wakka, Lulu, Kimarhi, Rikku, and Auron to vanquish Sin and the summoner gone rogue Seymour. Where I left of was the first boss battle against Seymour. Remastered on PlayStation 4, this game is literally breathtaking. I seriously was blown away by the beauty of the game. I haven’t really played many turn based RPGs but this is a fun and simple way to start. It’s a welcome change from FPS. Besides the graphics, the characters drive me deeper into this odyssey. The best compliment I can give this game is I haven’t been so invested in the welfare of game characters since the Mass Effect trilogy. Final Fantasy 10 is a awesome game so far and I can’t wait to see all that comes next.

Sega Forever Ristar

Ristar, the often forgotten yellow star of Sega. Like many if the Sega Forever games this one also seems to have a small graphical upgrade and its been done quite well. Both the graphics and sound had zero issue in my time playing.

Tho unlike the other Sega Forever games I have tried out, while the controls work pretty well the game itself doesn’t feel right. The controls work pretty well yes but the actual game play seems to lose something opposed to the other iterations I have played. If you are a fan of Ristar you will probably enjoy this, but if its your first time I would skip it. Thanks for your time and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sega Forever Sonic 1

Sega-Forever-Sonic-the-Hedgehog-GamingDog.jpg

Sega forever is a great idea but seems to have been met with a rather meh feeling by most people, myself included. This is mostly because it feels like a reason to toss out their more company focused entries as opposed to fan favorites that we can’t get else where.

Sonic honestly looks great on the cell phone with zero graphical or sound issues on my device. But the real question here is how does a game built on speed handle? Well surprisingly well actually. The controls are basically a digital analog stick on the left corner and on the right a single button to jump. The only real problem is if your hands are sweaty like most touch screens you may lose some response time, and in a game like this that can cost you some lives. Thats not an issue with the game itself tho. If you want a sonic fix this isn’t a bad option. Hope this helps and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Alien Resurrection: the game

alienr game1

I used to be a major chickenshit as a kid; I wasn’t able to look at the covers for this and Alien trilogy without almost crapping my pants in utter terror.  God, how much I’ve grown. So Alien Resurrection, a movie most people hated, got a video game in a time when if you had a movie you had to have a game. Whereas Trilogy was kind of a Doom clone, Resurrection actually broke some new ground at the time. In the Alien Resurrection game we see a lot modern FPS mechanics come into play; we were able to easily aim and shoot as opposed to many other shooters that were still getting it down. For the time the graphics were fine but now they turned to dogshit by today’s standards

alienr game2 Do you see what I mean? Playing this in early 2001 to 2003, this game was scary as hell. Also there is a really sweet idea in the game I’m pissed hasn’t been used in a alien game since; if you get hit by a face-hugger you don’t die automatically but your time is short and the alien will kill you from the inside if you don’t remove it from a hidden surgical station somewhere in the stage. The game is difficult and a little clunky but there’s one bastard of problem that makes it irritating as shit. Save points are ridiculously few and far between and in Souls fashion, you die- see you at the beginning of the stage mofo and if you don’t have a memory card, well, sucks to be you dude. Seriously, you start as Ripley 8 with no gun. You don’t casually find one on a dead body or given it in a helpful cut scene, nope, you gotta search for that damn thing because there comes a point guards starting shooting at you and you can’t punch. Overall it ain’t a bad game, it has a creepy atmosphere and the fact you are so fragile and there’s few saves adds a lot to the tension. Its on PS1 and PC and worth a try. May the gaming gods bring you glory and a memory card.

Star Trek 4 The Voyage Home

Startrek41.jpg

Star Trek 4, The Voyage Home (1986) is, in my humble opinion, is the best of the original series movies.  The plot is pretty simple. A probe comes to Earth with a message that starts boiling the ocean and destroying the world, and as Spock points out only human arrogance would assume the message was for them. As the crew quickly discovers the now extinct humpback whales are the only one that can answer them and save the planet. So Spock does some calculations no human can understand and their stolen Bird Of Prey is flying back in time.

Of course they quickly discover a pair with a pregnant female. Now that is basically the quick version. The movie looks good for its time and the acting is what you would expect from Star Trek. This one while my favorite is by many sort of the black sheep. While most people agree the odd numbered movies suck, this one is greatly argued by many. Usually it comes down to this or Wrath of Kahn and honestly neither answer is wrong. Voyage is a far less series movie and many would prefer while Kahn is an instant classic with one of the best space battle scenes in history. With that being said id recommend watching both. As always thanks for the time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Fallout New Vegas

fallout new vegas

Many people see New Vegas as the sort of black sheep of the family. I am not one of them. Vegas is probably my favorite of them all. The story of the courier was full of twist, turns, strange individuals and death. Traveling the Mojave was interesting, and seeing what happened to Vegas after the war was fun. While the groups are fun, like one that worships Elvis and walks around dressed like him and talking like him there were other areas that the game improved on from Fallout 3. For example being able to choose different types of ammo was amazing. Some examples of this were armor piercing rounds worked great with a sniper rifle.

The looks of the game were slightly better than its predecessor and the sound set the tone beautifully. the DLC was also fun but admittedly wasn’t as fun as it was in Fallout 3, but that doesn’t mean it was bad. the sierra madre was a pain in the ass sure, but it was an interesting twist on the series. As always thanks for your time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
