WWE 2K18

WWE 2k18. Have to be honest, been a very long time since I bought a wrestling game. I played WWE 2K17 for the Xbox on a free play weekend and I have to say. It was brutal. The game was not good. I hated the reversal system, it wasn’t very responsive at all. In fact I almost did not buy 2K18. Some friends said it was trash some said it was great. I basically flipped a coin and picked it up on sale for the PSN sale.

I have to say the controls are a huge improvement over last years. The reversal system is far easier to use and more responsive. They aren’t exactly easy by the way, it will take some time to master or even truly get the hang of it.

Graphically the game looks good, best looking wrestling game I personally have ever played. That being said it is far from being a modern marvel. Its simply an average looking game. There are also some minor glitches where characters pick people up but aren’t quite touching people and things of that nature.

Another thing that many modern gamers may hate is it seems like almost everything is locked from the start. Most moves, around 80 characters, entrances hell even the advance entrances are locked for my career mode. You have to buy what the game calls loot crates to unlock them. This is done with in game currency earned simply by playing the game and is earned in every game mode as far as I can tell. Its a throw back to the old days when you were rewarded for playing a game and not having a fat wallet.

Now as I said earlier, I don’t buy wrestling games often, so many of these things are new to completely new to me. For example walking around the locker room my friends character is just hanging out sitting on a a crate. Another friend was standing next to a wall after I won the NXT title. I didn’t even know this was a thing but apparently its not new. I think many of the flaws were lost on me since so many of these things were new for me. So coming from a guy returning to the WWE gaming universe after a very long hiatus, now is a good time to return. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you greatness.

Elite Dangerous, Sol And Aliens

That picture? That is Mercury in Elite Dangerous. After hours of grinding Federation Ranks I now have the required permit to go there. And all i got was some photos and a silly trophy. I also swung by Venus

I may go back for the rest at some point but not quite yet, because now i have decided to go find some Thargoids. Well to try. I grabbed my ship, flew over to the Pleiades Nebula to start looking..have not found any yet, but when I do I will be sure to snap a picture. Wish me luck, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Sims 4 Console

The Sims 4 finally comes to console. Having never played the PC version I can’t confirm if the claim that its the same on both PC and console is true, but it is the most complete version I have played on console.

Graphically as expected the game is beautiful and unlike other games in the series on console I didn’t experience any real slow downs or frame rate drops on PS4 which I really expected. The sound was also better than I expected so those were nice surprises.

The game play itself is pretty much the same as all the other Sims games. You create a character, get a job, forge relationships and live your life while doing things you normally would. I chose to make Darth Vader and turn him into a pro gamer since I assumed he could use the force to cheat.

All in all any fan of The Sims should pick this up and if you are curious now is a great time to jump in, tho most of you will want to wait for a sale. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Darkest Dungeon (PS4)

Before I played this game I heard A LOT about it… So.. I lied. I heard it was hard and you could buy your hero hookers. I found one of those two statements true…pro tip. Its the hookers.

Seriously tho, the art style is interesting and amazing and the mature story is interesting and actually rather original but I won’t spoil that. And while the game is not as hard as it was made out to be, it certainly is not easy. You have to juggle plenty of heroes and keep your party balanced and trained as well as equipped all while keeping their mental state from going off the deep ending and actually giving them a heart attack and killing them.

All that being said, the game isn’t for everyone. First you really do have to be an RPG fan. Second you have to enjoy a game that has a lot of different things to focus on. And third and possibly most importantly you have to understand characters will die. That really can’t be avoided. The game is designed with that in mind. I imagine people out there have avoided that, but you are supposed to lose characters.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Give this one a shot, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sega Forever ESwat

I honestly never played this for the Sega. I had heard of it, just wasn’t my scene honestly. Must admit it was kind of neat to finally give it a shot. I also will admit I didn’t like it. Nothing wrong with the game. Sound is what you would expect. Controls just fine, looks solid enough. I’m just not a fan of police games or movies admittedly. They all just seem the same. Anyway, by all means give this a shot. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory

Kerbal On Consoles Finally Fixed?

Is Kerbal Space Program finally fixed? Well not quite, but news this week from their official update at http://kerbaldevteam.tumblr.com/post/167097693084/ksp-weekly-expedition-1 reveals it will be by the end of January 2018.

Now I will admit, I am jaded. The game is fun even in its current and broken state. Waiting over a year for it to be fixed has been very frustrating to say the least, however recently seeing why the wait should be worth it.

http://blitworks.com/kerbal_space_program/

Blitworks was brought in to essentially rebuild the game on console from the ground up and the loud and clear update to it as well. The real question is will this be worth the wait, and will it finally be fixed? Hopefully we will see soon. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Overwatch PS4

Oh Overwatch, possibly the most popular competitive game out there right now. And I have to be honest, if any other company made this i’m pretty sure people wouldn’t care about this game. While hard to master this game is as basic as basic gets.

You pick a character each with unique ability, some are healers others are defense oriented others attack or some variation. Then its time to team up kill each other or go for an objective.

That’s pretty much it. That’s the game. Graphically it looks good and the sound is great but the story is pretty much all online and you must go to different places such as YouTube to find it.

That being said while the game is as basic as basic gets there is one thing that is hard to really describe and get across in a review, if you like multiplayer or competitive games, the game is simply fun. I played by myself a bit and honestly hated the game. A friend however harassed me to play on a team with him and about 4 hours later I didn’t even notice that much time had passed. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Worms Battlegrounds PS4

I have played a few worms games in the past so seeing a free one for Novembers free games wasn’t a disappointment for me.

The story mode isn’t bad but mostly seems like a large tutorial getting you used to the games and weapons for the real meat and bones of the game which is online multiplayer. Either build your own clan or join a friends and away you go at killing worms with other worms.

The customization while not tremendous is nice, with plenty of options to toss helmets and funny faces or mask on your murderous worms that you can change the names of. You can also choose the name and emblem of your clan as well. (Feel free to look me up on PS4 the clan is called Savior Gaming and my psn name is Savior699)

The controls take a bit of getting used to and can be a bit clunky but aren’t to bad or even enough to hinder game play enough to matter.

Honestly for $25 its a bit much to pay, for $15 I’d recommend it but for free you should really play this game for a bit and try it out. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Sims 4 Console Preview

The Sims 4 finally comes to console next week and is being advertised as the first time a sims console game will be the same on both PC and console. While I have my doubts there isn’t much longer to wait. The base version releases on the 17th however if you reserve the deluxe version you get to play it 3 days early. I will try to have the review as early next wee as I possibly can, but until then enjoy this launch video.

Cities Skylines PlayStation 4

Cities Skyline is a city creator for the PC, Xbox One and and PlayStation 4. While obviously not perfect, no game is, this one is particularly good. Sim games on console are usually pretty hit or miss. Heavy on the miss.

Cities Skylines however manages to have nice controls that function well on a controller. And while mod support is missing on console and the DLC hasn’t released yet (snowfall comes out this month) if like me you love city builders and sim games this one is absolutely a must own.

The sound isn’t bad tho like any game it can be a bit repetitive and at times annoying for some people, personally I didn’t mind it but be aware you might.

Graphically for this genre it looks great but there are on occasion some dips in frame rate. Nothing game breaking but they do exist and can be mildly annoying. Aside from that the game looks and plays amazing and watching your people come and go and drive around is great.

This game is worth buying, but only if you enjoy the type of game. Everyone else should probably pass however. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
