Disney Trademarks Hakuna Matata

Disney fans have at least one worry it seems. A petition on change.org according to Screenrant is quite upset with Disney for trademarking the words Hakuna Matata which in Swahili means no worries. Now I personally have not seen the trademark but some would argue they simply mean in the song but that would fall under copyright, not trademark so it seems they simply want to trademark works of a language so I can understand why they would be upset about it. This may be worth watching for fans of such things. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Super Smash Sells Fast, Surprising Nobody

As the titles states and as reported by Polygon and many others the new Super Smash game is the fastest selling in the series on the fastest selling console of this generation, and it should surprise absolutely nobody. Smash is the most popular fighting game in a system that has had very few and is full of the most popular characters gaming has ever seen. With the following, the series has and with the fact that the Switch is quickly catching up to the Xbox One which has been out far longer the only surprise would be if this didn’t sell more. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

We All Have Hidden Talents

This post actually isn’t even gaming related if I am being 100% honest. I was talking to a friend and was reminded of an incident at work a few years ago. I worked in a meat department and we were discussing peoples hidden talents and honestly, I wasn’t exactly fond of the people I worked with mostly so I stayed pretty quiet. One guy was saying he could actually see pretty well and really could. One was a pretty great runner locally and did really well in track and field events. He even showed us some of his state times that he posted in local papers from school.

This was when I was unfortunately dragged into the conversation. It was pointed out that my hidden talent was that I was a former pro wrestler. I, of course, pointed out this wasn’t very hidden, they all know. It was on youtube. The point of the conversation was to discuss talents we have that people mostly don’t know about. Nobody knew one of us could sing or was an amazing runner, they all knew I was a crappy wrestler.

I thought this was where the conversation ended since we all got busy but about 2 hours later back in the kitchen area they got on my case again about what I could do. In a moment of annoyance and I told my boss to toss a box across the kitchen to a table.  A bit confused he did it which is when I threw a knife through the box and stuck it to another box. After a moment of silence, I hear “where the fuck did you learn that?” This did require some explaining about how I like to learn weird stuff when I get bored on weekends.

I tell this story not to sound cool or interesting because I am neither of those things. I tell it because to look at me, well here.

That is a pic of me with a creepy Santa me and @torstenvblog found at the mall last Christmas. I don’t look at all talented and certainly don’t look like I would have that talent. So what you should do this weekend is looking at yourself and your friends and ask, what talents do we have? What talents don’t you know your friends have? More importantly, can you learn from them? With the year coming to an end and a new year starting try to better yourself in an unusual way. My talents really serve no use, mostly just fun things I learned for the hell of it. I do however enjoy them, so learn something even if it isn’t “useful”, it may just be something to talk about. Best wishes and may the gamin gods bring you glory.

Video games: stuck on repeat — Later Levels

While thumbing my way through the news feed on my mobile during my commute one morning (which I’ve since stopped doing because I’m sick of reading about Fallout 76 and Red Dead Redemption all the time), I came across an article about the best-selling games of 2018. I thought I’d have a quick scan to […]

via Video games: stuck on repeat — Later Levels

Later Levels is a blog I recently started following, and this may be the article that got me truly attached to the blog. It is insanely well thought out and researched and she is easy to talk to. Her thoughts on why people may or may not play new IP’s in the comments as well as her own struggles with finding the time to play games are ones that echo with many gamers with families, so go and send Later Levels some love.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Revisited

So after the most recent update and the fix of the in-game economy, I decided to revisit Red Dead Online with a friend that just got the game. Also, thanks for the free money and gold Rockstar. I used it to create a posse. I have to say some of my biggest complaints are still there but we will get to that. The economy feels much better, for example after a couple of story missions and some hunting I had enough money to buy a new gun which before the first update was not at all true. This was huge for me because finally, I could feed me and Thor (my horse) and not be bankrupt.

Tho sadly many of my complaints are still there. Really there isn’t much to do and the stuff there is to do many times is quickly ruined by other players. Hunting is kind of a chore since people will randomly shoot you and your animals despawn and people tend to hand out near the butchers.

Some of the weapons that are locked at higher levels also seem a bit odd, for example, the bow being locked at around level 9 or 10 seems weird considering its the best way to hunt and the fishing rod is locked at an even higher level. So if you just want to hang out with your friends in the world and hunt or go fishing it is not going to be a good time.

All that being said Rockstar has an excellent history of supporting their games and we all know there will be plenty of adjustments and things added as time goes on, and the game is still fun regardless. The potential of robbing banks and trains with friends is still exciting, so we just need to be patient. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Smallville Season 4

Its been a bit since I have done a Smallville Season, and please don’t let this be viewed as an indictment of how the season was in terms of quality. I actually just got really busy with other stuff and simply didn’t get to watch it as much as I would have liked, and I really would have liked to. This season will follow our friends through their senior year of high school as friendships are strained, new relationships are formed and broken and deaths pile up. This season was excellently done but there is one episode, in particular, I want to talk about.

Episode 5 titled “Run” will see Clark and his father Johnathan go to Metropolis for some medical test after his dad’s heart attack when a truck goes out of control. Johnathan is saved from certain death only by the super speed of, not Clark. Bart Allen moves fast enough to not only cut off Clark and save Johnathan but steal his wallet. This will send Clark on a quest to not only find Bart but to help him change his ways. The ending of this episode represents the first time (in this universe) that these two race, and the end is spectacular. Bart promises to stay in Smallville with Clark if Clark can simply catch him and takes off running. Clark gives chase with everything he has and after a minute Bart simply turn around and runs backward and waves goodbye, and vanishes to leave Clark standing on a dirt road to realize while he may be faster than a speeding bullet, he is far from being as fast as he thinks.

This season has quite a few moments that are turning points for Clark that make him question things he has always believed were unquestionably true. Chloe will also discover Clark’s secret, unknown to Clark when his girlfriend takes it on herself to decide he needs people to know. She also keeps this secret even from Clark until he loses his memory. He sadly forgets everything that happened that day when he regains it, and Chloe tells him the amazing thing about him is when he had the chance to start with a clean slate he made all the same decisions except one. When he pushes her that it is important all she tells him is that this time he trusted her.

This season honestly while maybe not the best did an amazing job of making you truly feel for Clark and the burden he carries. Between having to hide who he is and the damage it does to his life, but in the words of Clark, the fact that every moment of his life, whether its playing football, hugging someone or shaking their hand he makes the conscious decision not to hurt them. I have always said the biggest issue with Super Man is he is not interesting because he is pretty much a god. You need to care about Clark Kent and Smallville has done that better than any iteration ever has. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Magic The Gathering Arena

I have a small history with Magic the Gathering. I played quite a bit when I was younger with friends, and by younger, I mean like 20 years ago. So yes, we are going back away. Then I saw a commercial for this and thought why not check it out.

Graphically it is pretty nice, each card is nicely crafted and it is clearly established what each one does which has been a problem in a few card games I have played in digital format. Many times the print is too small and you end up guessing what to do with it.

Another nice thing is the tutorials explain very clearly what you should be doing and what the rules to Magic are in the first place. The game is easy to play and understand in this format and it is quite nice. Tho I will admit it doesn’t really feel the same as holding a deck in your hands and talking to your opponent face it face and sadly this cannot be replicated. Fans of Magic, however, looking for a fix would probably enjoy it and I think those looking to learn would get a pretty good grasp of it, but it is far from perfect. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Happy Birthday, to me.

That is right, this is a happy birthday post from myself to myself.  There is no reason for it and it comes off as egotistical, or is it narcissistic? Its something, regardless it is happening. Here, we will even sing to me.

Are there lyrics in the video? I didn’t check.

Okay, I guess I should be serious now. Today is a day for celebration, and by that I mean I will drink a ton of rum with my friends and family, probably play some games or watch a movie and regret it in the morning. So I hope you all have a great day, stay safe and enjoy whatever it is you are doing this fine evening. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Godzilla King Of Monsters Trailer Recreated With Toho Films

Yes, you read that headline right. A fan uploaded a video on Youtube recreating the latest Godzilla trailer using the original Toho films.

This is awesome to me on so many levels not just because I love Godzilla but because there is still enough of a following for this to even happen. So check this out and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Onrush (PS4)

Onrush is one of this months free games for PSN and admittedly I wasn’t too happy at first. Soma isn’t exactly popular here at Savior Gaming and I am not a huge fan of racing games. Onrush, on the other hand, isn’t even truly a racing game. This will take some explaining.

First, there isn’t a starting and finish line, you simply go. There are two teams trying to score points by making each other crash or even crashing the random cars also on the track tho those are so much easier to crush.

Second, not every race is the same. Some will have you cruising through checkpoints to add time to your clock while attempting to stop the other team from doing the same, scoring points by not letting your clock hit zero.

The controls and graphics are amazing and easy to look at. It is actually quite easy to see why this game has such a cult following. The music is pretty great as well with a nice soundtrack.

The game isn’t perfect tho. Admittedly you can only crash cars for so long before you want something else to do and pretty much everything is existence is locked, from clothes to tricks to even gestures and it takes time to unlock them. This isn’t a deal breaker, but its enough to put me off. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
