Elite Dangerous Bounty Hunting

For those that even semi regularly follow the blog you know I recently returned from a trip to Sagittarius A, the center of the galaxy. When I got back I decided to buy a combat ship and take part in the current community goal in Kaal by turning in bounties. So i picked up a Vulture and outfitted it which cost way more than expected. What I got tho was a small ship with way more fire power than I expected for only having 2 hard points even tho both are large. I quickly racked up a few kills and made a few hundred thousand credits and moved up to the top 75% of participants which if I can stay there will give me around 4 million more credits. Ok so I will admit that is not even close to what my vulture cost me, but long term it should pay for itself .

With all that being said I highly suggest every commander get themselves a combat ship and try it out. Its a nice break from trading and exploring and there is some nice money to be made. As always thanks for your time and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Pokemon Y

Pokemon X and Y as many of you know was the first in the 3D pokemon games. When I first saw this I was a bit nervous and it did take a bit if getting used to after over a decade of the old style. Within the first couple hours I realised I very much missed the top down look Pokemon works very well in the new style.

Aside from the new visuals the formula of catching little monsters for what is basically animated cock fighting still works. Any fan of the series knows it doesn’t take long for the obsession to collect as many as you can and find the right balance between new mons and old favorites to kick in. And as always the corny story running along side the quest to become league champ is interesting enough to follow but not so in-depth to distract from the main attraction of collecting and battling. The new EV training system was to me the best new addition and it saddens me to see it disappear in Sun and Moon and I hope to see it again. Americas Army: Proving Ground

I was torn when I downloaded this for free on PS4. Part of me doesn’t expect much from free games. However having been in the army I wanted good things. That being said, having served I knew this would be functional but flawed. And that’s really the best way to describe this first person shooter. Functional, but flawed. The controls are pretty standard and while graphically the game is sub par its not bad. The issue becomes where the many glitches come in. Numerous times while attempting to use an elevator it would take 3 and 4 attempts to have it actually work and more then a few times dead bodies would be simply floating in mid air. While floating dead people is easy to ignore the occasional random person floating was not. This normally happens when getting off an elevator,regardless it was still annoying as hell.

Aside from the numerous glitches I came across there really isn’t much to say about the game. It is pretty much average and standard in every possible way. As always thanks for your time, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Trek Beyond

Here we are at long last, the final Star Trek movie. This trek has a different more somber feel to it. Kirk making some noise about leaving the fleet, Prime Spock dead new Spock talking about leaving to help New Vulcan. Seriously this shits a huge downer. Then the Enterprise goes boom nameless crew dieing everywhere. Its like they set out to make us all sad. All that being said it doesn’t stay that way and there are plenty of jokes to go around.

The crew sets off on a rescue mission that turns out to be a trap where the Enterprise was quickly out matched with them narrowly escaping and being stranded on the planet. With new alien races to meet and kill the crew regroups on an old lost federation ship. I’m not sure there will be a fourth movie tho I hope there is, but if not Star Trek Beyond is a worthy send off for this generations crew. At the beginning I wasn’t happy with them rebooting the series, but now I have to admit this was one hell of a job that I am happy we got to experience. The Bards Tale ps4

So the other day I’m bouncing around the PlayStation store when suddenly I see a blast from my past. The Bards Tale. So I excitedly grab baby savior run as fast as a fat dude can (which is slightly slower than an average walking speed) and beg and plead with my girlfriend for $10, to which she grants my request. Ok so that is greatly exaggerated but still as a kid I loved this game. The visuals were never amazing but they were good enough and with the remaster they are still the same way. Not great, but good enough. The sound is great and the songs are in my opinion some of the best written and most catchy in video game history. The game itself is also the funniest I have ever played and its not even a close discussion for me. The story is exactly what the game says. Its the tale of a bard as he does various things. Sure maybe save the world but that’s actually optional. My first ever play through I didn’t. So i highly suggest you grab $10, and prepare for a fun story with clever music and some nice action rpg game play, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

This movie is evidence I love you guys. I watched this piece of cinema shit so you don’t have to. And you shouldn’t. Ever. For any reason other than money or sex. And the sex better be upper tier high quality sex. So lets get to the review of this flaming bag of garbage.

First and foremost while not a big deal for me the movie is in black and white. The story starts off with a little girl talking to a man outside when mom comes to see him. He asked to come inside to use the bathroom and like an idiot mom says yes. As you would assume from a movie listed as horror psycho here kills mom and dad comes home knocks him out and locks him in the barn. Turns out they aren’t going to kill him since he is the little girls only friend. Fast forward a few years and dad dies of natural causes, dude is still locked in the barn and now little girl is young bat shit crazy woman. Nothing much ever materialises after this. Time passes some dumb stuff happens and the movie moves on to the end with psycho girl killing a few people and kidnapping a baby. The acting sucks the sound is worse and it fails in every way to be entertaining or overly artistic. Avoid this movie, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Multiplayer gaming

Playing some battlefield 1 with Torsten the last few days just for fun. We aren’t all that great at the game, probably average on a good day and one round we won best squad. We thought it was pretty cool but it made me wonder how many professional gamers started off exactly like that. Whether its an Overwatch or Call of duty style game there are always a mix of people playing seriously and others just slamming planes into shit, for example I slam them into buildings and Torsten hits trees.

This raises a question for me, should more games have dedicated ranked matches that people like me simply aren’t allowed into? Most sports games have them and honestly I never use them, hell I get stomped half the time playing random games.

This weird phenomenon happens in other games as well. Fighting, call of duty black ops, battlefield 4 the list goes on and one where me and friends play and while we aren’t exactly screwing other players over with our shenanigans we aren’t really trying to win either. Star trek (reboot)

So here we are. The Star Trek reboot. I can’t lie as a huge trek fan the very idea of a reboot pissed me off. These assholes aren’t Kirk and the crew. This was blasphemy of the highest order for most fans.

So I sat down and watched what I KNEW was going to be an abomination. Few minutes in all i’m thinking is oh great another Romulan this time named Nero. This already sucks. Oh yay birth of Kirk. Who gives a damn.

Then Sabotage by the beastie boys hits. This is ok. Few minutes later we are in a bar and Kirk utters one of my favorite lines in the movie. “Well,not only” in reference to being told she thought he only had sex with farm animals.

This is one of those times I will admit I was wrong. The movie is great. Simple as that. The story is great, the explanation behind the reboot is theoretically sound as far as a movie explanation goes. Visually it is beautiful and the acting is great. While I don’t suggest going into this movie expecting the usual Star Trek movie it absolutely does the series justice. As always thanks for your time and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Medieval Life (Mobile)

I don’t expect much from free games, that is even more true on mobile devices. But this one is just, well bad if I am being honest. There is very little to do, fighting is nothing more than tapping a button as a bar moves in hopes that your bar is higher than theirs. You buy a new weapon as you level up which allows your bar to go higher and you collect money by killing monsters and selling what I can only assume is their bodies. Earning experience is slow, a couple for each kill and more when you buy furniture for your house, and no that is not a joke. I would advise you to avoid this game. Star Trek Nemesis

Before Tom Hardy was Bane or Venom, he was Shinzon, a Remon that managed to take over the Romulan Empire. The last of the Star Trek movies before the reboot is thought by many to be the worst. Tho I think most of them forget that the motion picture exist. As far as acting goes this is one of the best, as are the visuals.

The story itself is a bit weird. It is quickly revealed that Shinzon is in fact a clone of Picard made by the Romulans and isn’t a Remon at all.

What follows is the usual Star Trek shtick where the evil romulans and Shinzon attempt to destroy the earth and Picard and crew must stop them. Now the movie itself isn’t bad its simply all been done before. By all means watch it to finish out the movies, but don’t start here.
