Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

If the dictionary had a definition of “forced sequel”, this would be a contender for it. TStar Wars: The Force Unleashed, though over-hyped as hell, was a solid game that had 2 self contained endings. So did they make a new character? Well no, they pulled some Alien Resurrection  shit and made some clone story thing…Normally I’d recap the story but there isn’t much of one. Starkiller gets revived by the Empire (for some reason),  escapes, goes to find his old friends and get revenge on Vader…oh and he dual wields lightsabers now because cool.

The graphics are admittedly an improvement and the free fall sections are kinda cool. Besides that this game is a waste, especially with a gameplay time of less than 4 hours without the padding of cut scenes ( I tested this on hardest difficulty). Your abilities are severely limited compared to the first game and despite the gimmick of dual lightsabers, you don’t really get any cool  combos or anything with them. The story is boring and the ends are convoluted as hell. In the end, I can’t say I recommend this game to anyone and may the gaming gods bring you glory and keep you away from this crap fire of a game.

Mosaic Out Now on PS4

 

Mosaic (Console release date) is an odd game, one I have talked about before. The entire purpose of the game seems to be to just make you bored out of your damn mind with the mundane task of your life so that you simply refuse to do them and go off and do whatever you want to avoid doing them and by doing so, bring some color and fun into the world itself. This is one of those games I am curious about because it seems like a silly idea, but just silly enough to work. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

 

 

Resident Evil Resistance New Masterminds and Maps Announced

Today Capcom announced two additional Masterminds joining the roster for Resident Evil Resistance, the upcoming 4 versus 1 asymmetrical survival horror experience included with Resident Evil 3. Infamous Resident Evil villains, Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer, each bring a unique brand of terror to the game and a set of special abilities to thwart the Survivors trying to escape Umbrella Corporation’s devious experiments. This duo rounds out Umbrella’s team of Masterminds in Resident Evil Resistance, alongside the previously announced newcomer Daniel Fabron and the notorious Annette Birkin.

Fans who recognize Alex Wesker from Resident Evil Revelations 2 might remember she employs a more indirect means to achieve her goals. As a villain who enjoys putting her subjects through psychological horrors and experiments, she makes the perfect Mastermind. Alex’s play style puts an emphasis on using traps, while also manipulating the map to slow Survivors down with roadblocks and enhanced zombies. As if these were not intimidating enough, when Alex gets really serious, she can call upon a vicious carnivorous plant called Yateveo. This stationary bioweapon might not move, but in the right place it’s a powerful obstruction that keeps Survivors from their objective of escaping.

Ozwell E. Spencer has been a shadowy antagonist in the Resident Evil series, letting others do his dirty work. As the fourth Mastermind of Resident Evil Resistance, Ozwell is now taking a more hands-on approach. Enjoying his position as one of Umbrella Corporation’s founders, Ozwell uses the company’s cutting edge technology to torment Survivors. Unlike other Masterminds who summon controllable bioweapons (like Alex Wesker’s Yateveo, Annette Birkin’s G-Birkin and Daniel Fabron’s Tyrant), Ozwell instead generates a Disintegration Field that severely damages any Survivor who haplessly passes through it.

In addition to revealing new Masterminds, Capcom also shared new artwork showcasing two new maps where Masterminds and Survivors will try to outwit each other:

  • Casino: An entertainment facility for thrill seekers… and insidious Masterminds. Its still-operating slot machines and chips strewn across the floor tell the eerie tale of how hastily it was deserted during the collapse of Raccoon City.
  • Abandoned Park: A horror-themed park located on the outskirts of Raccoon City. It too was left abandoned when zombies and bioweapons overran Raccoon City. Now, monsters both real and imagined now patiently await visitors.

In Resident Evil Resistance, one Mastermind plots a deadly course by wielding a strategic deck of cards to create dangerous obstacles to prevent a group of Survivors from escaping – such as summoning vicious creatures, setting traps, manipulating the environment, and weaponizing security cameras. In turn, Survivors must work together using their own special abilities and items they come across to thwart the Mastermind, and escape the experiment before time runs out.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

force unleashed  We’ve talked about plenty of Star Wars games on the blog from the critically acclaimed Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic to the controversial Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA) and royally overlooked Star Wars Episode 3: The Game . Well before Jedi: Fallen Order, which I’m currently playing, the Force Unleashed was the hyped Jedi experience. So how does it hold up about a decade later?

The story begins as the newly established Empire begins crushing a uprising on Kashyyk, homeworld of the Wookies led by a runaway Jedi. Darth Vader himself faces the runaway and easily brings him near death until a child stops him him delivering the killing blow with the Force. Vader, seeing the young boy’s potential, takes him as his secret apprentice christened Starkiller. Starkiller grows into Vader’s personal Jedi hunter over the years, slaying some powerful Jedi and crushing the rebellion struggling to form, until the Emperor discovers Vader’s secret and suddenly Starkiller’s vengeance is turned toward his former master…

For a game I played on PS2, this game has a lot to potentially offer but there’s some issues here and there. The story is solid but I liked the first half as Vader’s apprentice way more than the bland redemption story it becomes later. There are 2 endings and 2 different final bosses which is a nice touch. Starkiller is a pretty bland character so I can’t say he’s actually memorable. The gameplay feels much like the first God of War  with a pretty impressive ability to use the Force to interact with the environment, use lightning, and a host of other OP abilities. The game gets a bit overboard with the QTEs during the boss fights which gets a bit irritating and sometimes the controls can be a little less than graceful so you will get some bullshit deaths here and there. Character customization is pretty nice with a variety of lightsaber colors and decently cool skins. In the end, while I don’t think it was worth the super hype, it was certainly a solid game worth playing. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Helping A Friend With Cancer

I know this goes greatly against what I normally post but over the summer my girlfriend dragged me to one of those genders reveal parties. Now that is far from being my thing but I went for her and my daughter and while there I met Raeanne. Sweet girl and her mom was even sweeter. Both made me feel right at home. Her dad took a minute to introduce himself to me and my daughter and brought her a drink, which he was under no obligation to do but that stuck out to me. He just seemed like an overall good guy. Now he is a grandfather and because of his time in the service is suffering from cancer and the family needs some help with medical bills and such. I am hoping you guys can help me spread the word, or maybe toss them a couple bucks if you have the means. Whatever you can do is greatly appreciated. My father is a Vietnam Veteran, a good man, and a friend to all. He never hesitates when it comes to being there for friends, family, and even people he just met. He truly has a heart of gold.

My father was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer that was most certainly caused by the Agent Orange that was used during his tours of Vietnam. He is due to start chemotherapy at the end of February and the medical bills are already adding up steadily. My father is a fighter, he always has been, but even the strongest people need support sometimes. Any help is appreciated, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dragonball Z: Resurrection F

Frieza, one of the Dragonball Z series greatest and cruelest villains, is in hell. Tortured and angry, his existence is torment. One of his devout followers summons his returns to lead his forsaken army and continue his universal tyranny but Frieza has something else in mind: revenge. Frieza, who has never trained, commits and strives towards his true potential. Meanwhile Goku and Vegeta are training with Beerus and Whise, mastering SS God Blue form when Frieza visits Earth with the strongest and massive army he’s ever assembled, causing the Z fighters to reunite after many years. Once again Goku and Frieza face off, but this time Frieza has a power unlike anything Goku has seen: Gold Frieza!

I’ve got a lot of mixed feelings on this movie but overall it’s pretty good. While I was against it at first, it was nice seeing Frieza become relevant again, although Gold Frieza is kinda lame in my opinion. My favorite thing about the movie was seeing some of the classic Z Fighters back in action again like Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, and Tien. I did love seeing Goku and Frieza’s rematch as well as Vegeta and Frieza’s. What pissed me off was the end result; I’m going to be the first to say, the ending fully makes sense in the context of the characters but I couldn’t help thinking it was cheap. In the end, it is above average anime film and it’s got some great fights but a poop ending. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods

Is there any force in existence Goku and his friends can’t overcome? After DragonBall Z: Buu Saga (Kid Buu) came to an end, Goku has the opportunity to meet Beerus, the God of Destruction. Goku begs Beerus for the chance to spar against him, only to have Beerus one shot him easily in his Super Saiyan 3 form. Beerus comes to Earth with his assistant/trainer Whise and for a time is content at Bulma’s birthday party until his temper goes awry and he threatens to destroy the world. With no one strong enough to big him down, desperate times call for a ritual to create a Super Saiyan God with the total power of all the Saiyans combined into Goku. Can this new form be enough to hold Beerus at bay?

I was definitely surprised by this movie in more ways than one. First, I like that it feels like a actual feature film developing the characters and is at full length. Beerus and Whise are fun characters and Beerus is a awesome badass. I love how this movie takes a different kind of look at Goku’s character and his flaws. It is a little bit of a slow build but the climax is well worth it. In the end, it’s a great continuation of the show and a great start to Dragonball Super. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Here’s the conclusion the the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the movie everyone stuck around for: Anakin  Skywalker’s turn to the dark side and the rise of Darth Vader. This movie was ultra hyped in 2005, and why not? Darth Vader is one of the greatest villains of all time and myself and millions of fans couldn’t wait to see the final turn. Were we disappointed like the previous did however?

The Clone Wars have come to a head and victory could go either way, but as Qui-Gon predicted, Anakin Skywalker has grown into an exceptional Jedi Knight and hero. After defeating Count Dooku and saving Palpatine and Obi-wan’s lives, Anakin is facing the chance to become a member of the Jedi council  but only as a means of spying on the chancellor who they believe is a Sith lord. Besides that, Anakin is facing the conflict of Padme being pregnant and the stress of them losing everything for there budding family and the fear he has of losing his beloved wife. Palpatine reveals himself as a Sith to Anakin with promises of a power that can save Padme, tantalizing him until the fatal choice comes and a new threat arises as the Jedi collapse. Enter Darth Vader.

It’s pretty well accepted that Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequel trilogy and is one of the darkest entries in Star Wars. There’s a ton of epic fights, including the iconic fight between Anakin and Obi-wan as well as Yoda vs the Emperor which was also pretty badass. Darth Sidious is honestly my favorite part of the movie and is brilliantly deceptive but also menacing as hell. Sadly this movie has it’s fair share of issues. There are some cringe worthy moments, including Vader’s infamous “NO!” scene and some pretty cheesy dialogue. The pacing feels off as well, because of the amount of ground the movie has to cover in a set time, the beginning feels rushed. In the end, it’s one of the better Star Wars movies and one of the most epic so it’s well worth a watch. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

King of the Hill

king of the hill Yep, we’re talking about the greatest salesman of propane and propane accessories Arlen Texas has ever seen, Hank Hill as well as his wife Peggy, son Bobby, and there friends and family in this animated hit comedy. King of the Hill comes from Mike Judge, creator of Beavis and Butthead, and if you look closely, Mr Anderson and Hank Hill look and sound pretty damn similar.

What makes this show pretty damn solid through all 13 seasons are the array of  characters; while the show mostly focuses on the Hills, they smartly spend many episodes of a season on other character’s adventures which keeps the show from getting stale. The show doesn’t really have much vulgar humor so it’s not necessarily bad if your kids watch it but honestly, after watching it as a kid and as an adult, I can say the humor is way funnier as an adult. Duke and I would quote this show for weeks and admittedly, I have been known to squeal “That’s my purse!” before trying to kick someone in the balls. At the end of it, the show does have a good heart and lessons behind which is refreshing, especially in this day and age. The first season is a tad awkward but around season 2 it finds it’s footing. In the end, King of the Hill won’t be for everyone but I still recommend to give it a try. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
