The Lost Child

NIS recently announced that their game The Lost child will be coming west in 2018. I don’t know much about the game itself, but the visuals appear to be typical Nippon Ichi Software style.  Hopfully more details are released soon.

5 Favorite Villains

This will be a little different. This is just 5 of my favorite bad guys. The simple rules I set for myself were no repeats from a series since admittedly it would just be RPG characters. They also are not in any particular order. Suffice it to say there will be spoilers.

V1 Pagan min

The bad guy of Far Cry 4, Pagan Min. This guy is flamboyant, intelligent and bat shit crazy. After beating a guy to death with what appears to be an ink pen, he takes you back to his place for a nice meal. From here you can wait around and get the hidden ending or leave blow shit up and eventually end up in the same spot, but either way Pagan Min makes the trip worth it.

V2 luca blight

Luca Bright of Suikoden 2 is the epitome of a bad guy that is insane with good reason. I won’t get into much detail but t has to do with his mother. This dude grows up, grabs a family ruin and goes on a killing spree with an army. At one point he makes a woman crawl around and act like a pig, then he kills her anyway pretty much for being a pig. This dude also like a champ taking tons of arrows before the fight then giving you a run for your money.

v3 Ardyn Izunia

Ardyn Izunia is the newest character on the list, but no less deserving. This guy is charismatic and incidentally incredibly powerful, but what would you expect from a guy that is immortal?  This guy also happens to be the guy on this list that comes closest to destroying the world.

V4 Zeon

Zeon is the oldest entry and comes from an old Sega Genesis   game called  Shining Force 2. Zeon is also the most truly evil person here. His existence is for no other reason than to be king of the demons and wants to rule the world and destroy the gods themselves. He also has no issue burning his own people alive that fail or displease him.

V5 Zombie Hitler

The only member of the list based entirely off a real person, from the Zombie Army Trilogy series none other than Zombie Hitler. In fact I basically bought this game to see and hopefully shoot Zombie Hitler. What is there to know? Whats wore than Hitler? Zombie Hitler.

If you decide to go chasing these evil bastards down stay safe, and may the gaming gods bring you  glory.

Sharknado 4

Sharknado 4

Sharknado 4 set a new standard for ridiculous and corny B movie. Any regular reader of the blog know how much I love a good B style movie and this is no exception.  The visuals are solid but corny and blatantly intentionally off. The story involves someone coming back from the dead as a cyborg 5 years after the last movie an now has a damn light saber that comes out of her arm where her severed hand used to be. Also in an even more and bizarrely nonsensical twist the Sharknados are now catching on fire or are full of rocks which the sharks also take aspects of their appearance in, for example the sharks in the sharknado have rocks bulging out of them.

This another great example of a movie series that is meant for a very specific audience and most people will simply sit there asking themselves wtf did I watch. For the rest of us, enjoy, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sharknado 3

sharknado-poster

It seems like each and every Sharknado movie gets more and more ridiculous.  This one starts out with Fin Shepard saving the President ( this movie is full of cameos. From Bill Engvall to Chris Jericho and many others in between. They even recreate that famous flag raising photo from Iwo Jima.

86f0d1fef907d24b99e343e3623967a3.jpg  I have said this in previous reviews and I will say this again, SyFy has without a doubt mastered the B movie genre. The Sharknado movies are not what anyone would consider a “good” or “well made” movie. But they are fun.

Another fun part if the movie for example is when a sharknado hits the Daytona 500. Cars wrecking everywhere huge explosion and a plane crash into a river. Now i’m not why this was important or why it was done. But after the crash Ian Ziering and Cassie Scerbo exist the water and slow motion. Ian is surprising ripped for his age and Cassie is basically in lingerie and by the gaming gods she has a body that won’t quit.

All that being what it is any fan of the old school B movie will absolutely adore these movies. Many people however will probably hate it. As always may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Kerbal Space Program. Hardest game for PS4?

Kerbal-Space-Program-PS4-Review.jpg

A lot of times when people discuss the hardest games on PS4 or in general we hear about Dark souls and Bloodborne. Once in awhile I hear about Darkest Dungeon and once even Crash Bandacoot. Now this is . totally opinion based discussion and I don’t think there is a really right or wrong answer.

Enter Kerbal Space Program. This is a game I doubt most PS4 players have heard of let alone played. And it seems like a simple concept. You play in a make believe solar system on the planet Kerbal which is much like earth. There are other planets and moons of course and as you probably guessed by the title the object of the game is to build up the kerbals space program and build rockets and such to explore the solar system shown below.

This all sounds simple enough. And while I may not be the most intelligent person on Earth I do have a fundamental understanding of physics. And this game has kicked my ass since it came out. I have watched videos, some by an legitimate astrophysicist, read articles watched tutorials over and over again. The problem? Well while I have a fundamental understanding of how it all works what I do not have is the practical knowledge to go with it. I once managed to send a probe to one of Kerbals moons ( named mun) and can orbit Kerbal maybe half the time I am horrible at the game, tho I do enjoy the explosions when I fail. I have logged probably 60-70 hours into the game and have gone nowhere. So while I ran through bloodborne in half that time Kerbal continues to be a fun yet rage inducing experience. Is this the hardest game on PlayStation 4? Well for me yes, tho I imagine for most people it should be in the conversation. As always, may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy

h2-cast.jpeg

First i’m going to say, I did prefer the book. With that out of the way this movie is harmless…well mostly harmless. The movie starts off by introducing you to what is pretty much the main character Arthur who just never got the hang of Thursdays. His house is about to be bulldozed and he is laying in front of it to prevent this and the construction of a highway system. Around this time his friend Ford rushes up with a shopping cart full of beer and peanuts for what I can only assume was what he wanted to bring off Earth with him. He then bribes the crew to wait awhile before demolishing Arthur’s house. Coincidentally Ford was there to pick up Arthur and catch a ride off Earth before a fleet of construction ships destroy the Earth to build am intergalactic space highway.

This is much of what goes on in the movie. Seemingly weird and random things to create a humorous and interesting narrative. I would definitely suggest checking out the movie or even the book if you like comedy, and even more if you want to see Snape ( Allen Rickman) play a clinically depressed robot. As always thanks for joining me, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Amityville Horror (2005)

amityville horror

Hey who wants to go back in time and watch Ryan Reynolds play a complete psycho and possibly murder his family? Did you say yes to that question? Than skip this review and just go watch the movie. Still on the fence? Keep reading.

There have been many iterations of the Amityville Horror with varying degrees of accuracy to the actual events. If you want to research the real story feel free, but its pretty boring and has very little in common with the movies. With that being said lets move on.

The special effects are pretty well done as is everything else you would want in a movie. By now we all know the story pretty well, family moves into house, shit starts getting weird, little girl gets an imaginary friend, things slowly get worse, wife realizes something lives in the house. Dad tries to murder everyone. However the real star of this movie and what truly makes this movie from typical demonic presence in a house movie into the realm of classic is Ryan Reynolds. From the onset he plays his usual self. a Fun loving guy that cracks jokes, and slowly descends into madness. And he does it amazingly well. Little things like simply being a bit snippy with the wife, and moves on towards insomnia. But at each stage he never truly lets go of the last, His performance was far beyond what I expected. As always, may the gaming gods bring you glory.

IT review,2nd opinion

pennywise-it

So me and Torsten went down to our local theater today, our first visit in fact. The Iron Warhorse Movie Bistro had a really old time feel with old photos of our home town in Scranton Pennsylvania. Great theatre with probably the most comfortable seats I have experienced in a theater. I snapped a couple photos for your enjoyment.

Their walls are lined with similar photos and I absolutely loved the person touch they had. The staff was friendly as well. If you are in the area check them out. Now on to the review.

First I have to admit, the first time I saw a picture of Pennywise and then the first trailer for the film, I was expecting a sub par movie. I was wrong. The acting was great, and if you are a fan of the Netflix show Stranger Things you will love how this movie feels. The acting is great and I can’t say there was a weak performance. The special effects looked great and the music score and sounds went very well with the movie itself.

The opening scene of course is Billy and George building the boat, and while George goes into the basement the suspense starts with a great scene and moves eventually into him chasing his boat down the street. As shown in the trailer he slams into a saw horse and his boat goes into the sewer. This is our first real taste of the new clown, and he is creepy as hell.

Throughout the movie many people let out small yelps or gasp as various scenes startled many. While some of the scares come from jump scares they are all pretty well placed and the movie did not rely on them to much. The movie does have a few comedic moments but they aren’t as plentiful as I had feared and they never took away from the sense of dread these kids had in the movie. I highly recommend seeing this in theaters if you can.

I shall now say something I NEVER thought I would say. This movie is superior to the original in ever single way. I loved the original and I loved Tim Curry. And if you are looking for a similar movie and performance you won’t get it. You should not compare one to the other as they take totally different ways of telling the same story, but this movie and Bill Skarsgard are am all around better horror movie. As always thanks for reading, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Sharknado review

sharknado

Ok lets be 100% honest. This isn’t exactly a good movie. Its campy as hell, the dialogue is down right painful at times and they don’t even attempt to take the CGI serious. And I loved this movie because of it. Sharknado wasn’t scary or well written, it was just fun.

This movie reminded me of an old 80’s B movie. Fake blood is used by the truck load when a shark being flung through the air rips off a guys arm. Old people panic when sharks are tossed into swimming pools seemingly at random by tornadoes.  A gas can and some matches tossed into the pool to deal with them somehow ignites the entire damn pool into a fire storm for no other reason than it will look cool. This is definitely a niche market that most people don’t care about but the Syfy channel has mastered, and the gaming gods thank them, and may they bring you glory.

Demon Gaze 2

DGII_PV2_Teaser_US.jpg

Demon Game is set to release this Fall for the PS4 and PS Vita. From the company that brought us the Disgaea this dungeon crawler.

The world is Asteria, and it is at the mercy of Magnastar and it is up to the Revolutionist Party to overthrow him. You play as the Demon Gazer and with the powers of demons you must lead the revolution to save the place.

The dungeons seem to be done in a grid based style with a first person turn based battle system. From the creators of Disgaea I am expecting a great story and some good laughs. Hopfully we find out this Fall, and while we wait may the gaming gods bring you glory.
