Batman: The Killing Joke

killing joke

With Joker hitting theaters today, I thought it would be appropriate to cover Joker’s most diabolical plan, to make sure Batman has one really bad day as well as one of comic’s most controversial graphic novels written by the writer of the Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

For years, Batman and Joker have fought across Gotham, with Batman knowing the day would come when someone would kill the other. The sad truth is neither really know each other, but the hate they garnish for each other. Joker sets off to break Batman and those he cares for the most. In a single night he breaks into the Gordon residence, paralyzing Barbara with a shot through the spine and taking naked pictures of his immobile body to later torture her father the Commissioner with as he is stripped and sent on a macabre ride while Joker recalls his really bad day. Things are personal as Batman finds his nemesis, but has the Dark Knight finally broken after a really bad day?

I must admit, I was pretty shocked how far this book went, especially for such a quick read. If you played Batman: Arkham Knight you might be familiar with some of this material, but the book is far more disturbing. It is written really well and Joker is shown in a different light and is actually pretty sympathetic in his origin. The artwork is great and the colors really pop. This is the perfect book with a haunting ending for any Bat fan and I highly recommend it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Rocket to Uranus (Mobile)

Rocket to Uranus is a simple concept. The rocket spins around a planet, you tap the screen at the right time and it flys to the next planet, or you get lost in space and start over again. This is about as fun as it sounds. Yes, it’s cool for about 2 minutes.

The graphics and sound are both simplistic and the game itself is..Well lets just cut to the chase, don’t waste your time downloading it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 3, Arkansas Gowrow

The Gowrow allegedly native to Arkansas ( its a state in the United States) is what can only be described a huge, 20-foot reptile type creature that eats local livestock. First reported in 1897 and encountered in the Ozark Forest and was given the name Gowrow due to the noise it supposedly made. On two occasions one was supposedly caught, one was “sent to the Smithsonian but never arrived” and the other was due to be “shown for a price” but allegedly escaped just before the reveal. Birds of Prey full trailer

This caught me through a loop; I seriously thought the other teasers were the actual trailers? Anyway, here’s the first real look at Birds of Prey and all I can think of is that it’s pretty much a Harley Quinn movie. I’m ok with that because Margot Robbie was great as Joker’s other half; my fear is that this is looking to be a all female Suicide Squad in regards to tone and a really misplaced villain. I’m hoping for the best but I ain’t impressed. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mario Kart Tour (Mobile)

Mario Kart Tour is the newest mobile game from Nintendo and I have to say it was greatly disappointing for me. It is full of in-game transactions for almost everything, and they aren’t exactly cheap. The controls are also pretty horrible in my opinion.  It never felt like I was truly in control of what was going on.

The other issue I have is that it seems like you are racing bots not other people and this is rather frustrating since they are given names that seem like other people. That just seems like false advertising to me when it comes down to it. There is one redeeming quality tho. I thought the sound was amazingly accurate to the series.

If I had paid real money for this game I would probably have been upset, and it really seems like a money pit to me. I personally won’t be putting more time into it. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Day 2, Banshee

Banshees are from Irish Folklore and despite popular belief isn’t actually evil. They don’t cause death or kill people, they warn of impending death to family and loved ones. She is still quite terrifying however and it is said she takes on many forms from a beautiful woman wearing a shroud to a headless woman that is topless and carrying a bowl of blood.

The wail, however, seems to be universally scary as hell. I have included some other pics for your enjoyment, best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Tony Hawk’s Underground

th underground

I’m not a sports fan by any means but damn I love the old school Tony Hawk games, my favorite being the first Underground. You create your own skater and custom board and go from random skate punk in Jersey to superstar while dueling your rival Eric for the spot as pro spanning throughout the US and even going into Moscow on a fun as hell adventure. I had a blast being a skate punk, causing havoc and doing tricks. The skating is top notch and controls great better than the games that would come console generations later. I love the huge selection of licensed music at your disposal and the varied locations you can travel to, including a KISS concert as a bonus level with none other than Marvel’s Invincible Iron Man as a unlockable character. The most memorable moment I can recall is doing the 360 McTwist off a skyscraper over a helicopter. This game gave me a lot of awesome ideas growing up that went into my book throughout the years. I highly recommend this game. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Dragon Quest Of The Stars (Mobile)

Dragon Quest Of The Stars is a mobile game coming to the West in 2020 from SquareEnix. There is a ton of info and pictures they sent out that honestly, I am just going to copy and paste. So enjoy and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Players can create their own custom character, designed by the illustrious manga artist Akira Toriyama, and two companions to embark on this great adventure with in solo mode. Powerful attack combos are possible through strategic management of the skill gauge. Day 1, The Lock Ness Monster

Oh, Nessie, the creature of Loch Ness Scottland in the Highlands.  Based on the plesiosaur. I love Nessie because obviously it may or may not exist but because it is one of those long-lived legends. Also, it may be a legit dinosaur which I love. There are some interesting theories out there as to what is in the lake. such as an eel. Long story short on that one, DNA testing of the water shows no giant fish but eels do inhabit the waters of the Loch. There are a number of other theories mostly involving it being other species people aren’t used to seeing. But this is my first pick. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Star Wars pod racer 64

star wars racer 64

When Star Wars reignited after Phantom Menace debuted, there were a crap load of video games. One of my favorites capitalized on the pod race scene, which besides the final lightsaber fight was Menace’s most memorable part. Extreme speeds and a lot of damage, pod racing was the shit. This racing game used to make my heart stop as the other racers would smash the hell out of my pod, forcing me to pull back and repair my engines so I didn’t explode. The worst was getting slammed off course mid jump and crashing to my fiery death. Make no mistake, this game was a hard son of a bitch but it was really fun for a racing game which I’m normally not into. If you were disappointed by Star Wars Episode 1: the game on PlayStation, this makes up for it on the N64. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
