Podcast News

As some of you may know we here at Savior Gaming have talked in the past about starting a podcast. We haven’t mentioned it in a while but it hasn’t been forgotten about. In fact, we are simply working on some of the finer points if it all such as the length and how often to put them out, you know the things that will go right out the window anyway. We still have some decisions to be made but if there is any specific type of gaming content you would like to hear or even just general life questions feel free to ask them. or follow me on Twitter and shoot me a message there, I will happily keep your name out of it if you want. The show will be more R rated so nothing is really off limits. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Override Mech City Brawl (PS4)

Not long ago I got an e-mail from a man named Geoff over at Modus Games offering to let me try out Override Mech City Brawl: Preview on PC on a sort of ambassador weekend. Some of you may remember me and https://twitter.com/SirFeliciano_ streaming it and having a blast. So when I had the chance to try it out on PS4 I jumped at the chance. So Geoff (Twitter) if you are reading this, thanks for the review code. Give him a follow over on Twitter. That being said, let us go bash his game a little bit.

I am going to do this review a bit differently. I actually don’t have many bad things to say about it so I want to get those out of the way first. First, there are some frame rate issues on rare occasions and almost exclusively during the 4 man brawls when a lot of things are going on at once. I also can into an odd glitch, on 2 separate occasions in the same match. A  character named Pescado has a suplex move that when I used it managed to slam the other players through the map and they were unreachable for the remainder of the round. Tho I lost since the had more health than my team (we played 2v2) it was rather funny.

That is it. I am out of complaints. Both of which are easily patched out with an update.  The pros outweigh all of that. See I was expecting a tossed together story in arcade mode, probably a silly tournament between robots. That isn’t what we got tho. The story itself while short tells the story of an alien/mutant attack that our mech pilots fight back against all over the world. As you do missions you can power up your mech of choice. (I suggest Setesh)

There are also mods and weapons to unlock in the story to unlock. All this to me really seemed to work as a training exercise for the real draw of the game. Online multiplayer. Here you have some options. There are 1v1 ranked matches, where yours truly gets his ass handed to him time and time again. There are also standard 1v1 matches that are basically the same as ranked but its more for fun, I have better luck here but not by much.

Last but not least, my pride and joy an favorite game mode. Brawl. This lets you have up to 4 people or some computer-controlled bots just go at it in a winner take all brawl, or simply have a team game. There is a lot of fun to be had here, in fact, most of my time playing has been spent here. You can even put multiple people in one mech with people controlling different parts of it.

With all that, you must be wonder how does the game look and sound? In short beautiful. The visuals of buildings going down and explosions going off, absolutely stunning. But here is the important part. This is the best controlling mech game I have ever played.

Now, why you are all here, should you buy this, or pass? It is quite simple if you like mech fighting games, this is a must buy. I don’t even like the genre to be honest for various reasons usually involving the way the game’s control, but this one is without a doubt the best I have played. 9/10. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

My Thoughts On The 2018 Game Awards

As we all know the 2018 Game Awards were this past Thursday, with Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War winning many awards including to my surprise God Of War winning Game of the year. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, it is a great game and very much deserving of the win.

The show itself was kind of hit and miss for me with the music section and a few of the guest being almost cringed worthy at times. That is really just my personal opinion, after all, us gamers aren’t exactly known for our outgoing and social personalities.

There were plenty of great premieres such as Mortal Kombat 11.

The huge surprise and win for Nintendo tho was the world premiere of Nintendo Exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

This to me was the big takeaway from it all, that not only is Nintendo chasing more mature games like Doom and Diablo it is chasing high profile exclusives. And that to me is a great thing. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

New Pokémon trademark Pikavee filed by Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak — Pokémon Blog

Nintendo Co., Ltd., Creatures Co., Ltd. and Game Freak Inc. have applied for another trademark in Japan for ピカ·ブイ (Pikavee – a portmanteau of Pikachu and Eevee) for purposes related to video games and smartphone games, and for providing entertainment. This sounds horrible.

Avengers 4 trailer

The day has arrived at last, our first trailer for Avengers: Endgame has come. Thanos has won and what few Avengers remain are lost and desolate. The feel of the trailer is a perfect follow up to the end of Avengers: Infinity War . I was glad to see Hawkeye return as well as  Antman’s funny bit at the end. I wish they showed a little bit more but the feeling of defeat and loneliness was perfect. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Men in Black International

As many of you know there is a Men in Black spinoff (or maybe reboot?) coming soon. The story and details are being kept closely guarded but it has an official title at long last, Men in Black International. ScreenRant has more of the details. Personally and quite possibly because of my age, I feel it is a little too soon for this and is entirely not needed. Sadly I am just one man with a blog. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

New Tony Hawk, On Mobile

People have been begging for a new Tony Hawk skateboarding game for years ever since the disaster that was Tony Hawk 5, and on December 13th you will get that dream. Sadly, it will be on mobile devices. According to Polygon it will follow the same formula of skating through parks and such for high scores but this time on the go. Time will tell how good this turns out, but really it can’t be worse than Five can it? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Ultimate Fantastic 4: N- Zone

ult f v3

Originally my plan was to cover volumes 3 and 4 together but the next volume is literally like 3 stories in one where as volume 3 is one solid story. Also to avoid a recap, check out my review on Ultimate Fantastic 4: Fantastic / Doom but essentially we’re wrapping up there primary origin as the 4 embark into the N- Zone, where it’s believed they got there powers.

After facing the nefarious Mole Man and Dr Doom, Reed Richards ( Mr Fantastic) discovers a means to travel to the Negative Zone, the place who’s mere exposure caused there mutations and Doom’s deformation. It takes some talking with the volatile General Ross but Reed gets clearance to venture unto the breach with there custom shuttle, the Awesome. The N Zone is a dying universe, cold and near lifeless. The rules of physics are nearly null and void. The environment has a nasty, almost lethal effect on Johnny and his powers but they can’t go back without answers or empty handed. They come across a mangled space station inhabited by the starving dwellers of the universe, overseen by Nihilus, a eerie fly like creature who is desperate and wants a way out by any means necessary. Can the Four overcome this new threat with a man down and escape this dying hell?

This is a solid book but there is some drawbacks. There are some strong character moments between Sue and Johnny as brother and sister and I like seeing the conflict in Reed stemming from his ambition.  Nihilus does have a creepy vibe to him his motives are sympathetic. A problem that kills the story for me is the fact he’s honestly a wimp. One punch from Thing basically takes him out, and once they return to our dimension Johnny pretty much roasts his damn posse in 30 seconds. I felt like the pacing was off and the beginning was a little too long and the end game was too quick and there were a few times there could have been some sweet action scenes. In the end its a good solid story I think many would enjoy. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Unreal Tournament and an Unreal Wait

Sadly, as reported by Variety Unreal Tournament while not dead isn’t being actively worked on or developed and hasn’t received an update since 2017. The cause is understandable considering they are using those people and resources to produce Fortnight which is a cash cow for Epic Games but many fans are quite obviously feeling betrayed and let down. Unreal Tournament has had a large and loyally following for decades and is now being tossed aside.

That being said, how can anyone be surprised? Love it or hate it Fortnight has become bigger than anyone has ever dreamed and has struck a cord even outside of gaming itself with many rappers and athletes joining streams to play it, so how could they not focus on it? This understanding, however, doesn’t make it any less frustrating for many sadly. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory,

The Shivering Truth trailer

There are times I say weird shit on YouTube. Right off the bat, the clay-mated figures caught my eye. Why I decided to share this is for the simple fact I truly don’t know what I was seeing. I was getting a heavy Twin Peaks meets Jacobs Ladder vibe. I can’t say I’m expecting this to be a comedy but I can say it strangely caught my interest. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
