Ok, so a while ago I talked about how much I loved Spider-man: the animated series from the 90’s, well little do people remember MTV’s animated series that jetted out after the huge success of the first Spider-man movie. Supposedly taking place after the events of the first movie and before Spider- man 2 we join the soap opera of Peter Parker’s life as he deals with Harry’s pain over losing his father, his balance between being friends with MJ and being more, and fitting in at college while being the friendly neighborhood Spider-man and meeting such bad guys as Electro, Kingpin, and Lizard along the way…and it lasted with 13 episodes on a cliff hanger or real downer ending, however you look at it.
I find it hard to say if it’s worth watching. It doesn’t sync well with the films even though it references thing from the movie. As a drama, it’solid as is the voice acting; Neil Patrick Harris is a pretty good Spider-man. There’s not many classic villains sadly, pretty much who I named; you never get to see Doc Ock, Venom, or even another Goblin. Pretty much nobody bad guys that are alright but don’t beat those we love. The animation at the time was groundbreaking but hasn’t aged that well in my opinion. It ain’t horrendous but not great, and you’ll notice there’s a lot of stock scenes of Spider-man swinging to pad stuff out. I’d say it’s worth it if you’re a die hard Spidey fan but otherwise it’s ok to pass. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
This maybe a surprise but I’m a pretty big fan of American Horror Story. While not perfect, I love how each season manages to cram in strange and WTF stories and good characters and make them work. So far, I know season 8, Apocalypse, we’re getting mutants and the Antichrist, which was part of the first season. The teaser is cool and I can’t wait to see what we get in 2018. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
So without a truckload of back tracking, please refer to my posts on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: vol 1 and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers vol 2 before continuing with the story. So Tommy and Billy are trapped in a alternate future dimension without there powers and without the other rangers, who sharing Tommy’s Green Ranger power, have started trying to restore Alpha and bring the fight to Rita. Billy and Tommy find themselves in a time of great destruction, where Rita has taken over and the Power Rangers have lost to a sinister Lord Drakken. Powers that once were theirs have been scavenged, given to Drakken’s army. On the other side, Trini discovers the Black Dragon shares some striking similarities to Tommy’s DragonZord. Lord Drakken is revealed to be a older Tommy, a Tommy that that stayed loyal to Rita and who killed Jason, who failed to harness the White Ranger power in time. Drakken fused both together and destroyed most of his former teammates and friends. After barely escaping, the duo find a resistance led by an older Zach, but what can they do without there powers?
I can’t help but be impressed by the Boom Power Ranger comics. I enjoyed the more intimate look into Billy, who was always one of my favorites. Drakken is menacing and well written, a cool and much needed threat against the Rangers. If you enjoyed the show or want a really good comic story, these should be high on your list. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
No I am not here to tell you something pretty much every horror fan already knows and explain about The Halloween mask and the Shatner mask. The producer of Halloween would actually like to work with William Shatner and some how get the Iconic Star Trek captain that has essentially lent ( unwillingly admittedly) to the Halloween universe. Now I am not a huge fan of Halloween tho I do enjoy it, but I would love to see this happen. Check out more here and let me know what you think. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
That headline actually isn’t a mistake. Set 20 years after Star Trek Nemesis, a new as of yet Untitled Star Trek series set to be on CBS streaming service will feature the return of Sir Patrick Stewart’s Picard. Now honestly I gave pretty damn mixed feelings about this, and the fact that it will be on a streaming service I have 0 interest in paying for since I pay for enough stuff as it is makes this a hard choice for me. However I do love me some Star Trek. Regardless check here for more and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
Here we come to the exact opposite of the Titans live action trailer , a goofy comedy featuring respected characters Robin, Cyborg, BeastBoy, Starfire, and Raven in there whacky adventures. That’s pretty much the gist of it. This is in no way like the classic Teen Titans ; this isn’t a show with complex characters and storylines. The characters are pretty much simplified and dumbed down and there is no real super hero stuff. What we get is a real trippy WTF show that pokes fun at the genre, characters, and DC itself. In season 1 alone I saw a Kaiju sized burrito fight a giant robot burger, Robin in a sped making some pretty damn adult fish jokes, and poor Starfire getting screwed at least half a dozen times by her asshole friends because she ain’t from earth. That being said, as much as I want to hate this show, I can’t. I laugh a lot and it’s got a fun, colorful art style and I like the jabs they make at other DC characters. Is the show stupid, yeah. Will it piss off fans of the classic, oh yeah. But it’s just a fun show that ain’t for all, but alright in doses. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
After the sad disappointment and utter outrage over the Titans live action trailer I needed some sort of balance to bring me back to my nostalgic teen love of the show. the Judas Contract is one of there most famous storylines, done amazingly on Teen Titans discreetly over 3 seasons. Also in my My Top 10 favorite DC villains- part 1 post, I brought up Terra, who this story centers around. So what makes this a great story?
The Teen Titans are a group of powerful youths out to do good on the world. Led by veteran Titans Nightwing and StarFire, they are joined by Blue Beetle, BeastBoy, Raven, Robin, and Terra who are on a mission to thwart a religious zealot called Brother Blood and his rising cult. While the battle against Blood seems to be going alright, life ain’t easy for the Titans. Nightwing and Starfire announce there relationship to the group, Beetle is distanced from his family by the temperamental alien Scarab that grants him his power, BeastBoy crushes hard on the rough, edgy Terra who Robin doesn’t trust. Robin’s suspicion turn out to be true when Terra and super badass mercenary Deathstroke take him out; together they have infiltrated the Titans with Terra as a spy, hired by Blood to dismantle them cruelly for his ultimate plan. Hearts are broken and the Titans face a threat from within…
The live action Titans should seriously learn from this movie. Like the early 2000’s show, there’s a well done balance between light and dark moments. The biggest plus is the characters are really well flushed out and the action scenes are pretty epic. I kinda wish Raven had more to do and I think Terra’s betrayal was done a lot better in the show but her back story is dark is hell. What I admire is the movie does go over some really dark shit but it does stay balanced. It’s a really good animated film that’s paced well I recommend checking out. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Before Guillermo Del Toro became a huge name in film with the HellBoy movies, Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim and The Shape of Water, we got Mimic. And no, not the Mimics from the Souls game.
Mimic begins with 2 scientists tasked with killing a terrible epidemic. Their solution is to kill the spreaders, by genetically creating cockroaches to kill off the carrier insects that spread the disease; after a generation, the insects would die and life would go on. Years later, then scientist responsible comes across massive versions of her work, which leads her and her husband to search them out. But unexplained disappearances suggest there creations have evolved to be more than they bargained for, evolving into hideous humanoid creatures under the subway…
This particular review is going to be pretty subjective. I know a lot of people that love this movie as a 90’s cult classic and back in the day, the effects were solid. I don’t have that nostalgia however. I never saw it until a week ago and I ain’t really a fan. The characters are pretty forgettable, the effects haven’t aged very good, and I couldn’t help feeling like it was a poor man’s Alien . While some set pieces and creature designs are very Giger- inspired and hell, you have Charles S Dutton via Alien 3 the script doesn’t have the suspense or characters to hold it up. The movie ain’t terrible, but unless you are nostalgic or curious, I can’t really recommend it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.
Blossom & Decay is an interesting game, but before I get into it I want to explain how this came into my life. Not long ago on Twitter I asked everyone to recommend some good indie projects to me and I ended up following and being followed by Konspiracy Games. Then I got busy and I kept meaning to shoot them a message and see what they were up to. Their game looked interesting but I just never got the chance. Then a little bit ago they actually sent me a message. I won’t go into details but it was basically just them introducing themselves and giving me some info about the game, basically the info I was going to ask for anyway. This lead to me getting into a pre-alpha demo of the game. So after I tell you about that I will be linking some stuff at the bottom for you guys to read up on, because the short version of this whole thing is simple. If you are a fan of building and exploring games, you will want to keep an eye on this game.
First thing I have to get out-of-the-way, this was a pre alpha demo of the game so it was a bit rough around the edges. The controls could be a bit stiff at time and I often found myself a bit confused as to what I should be doing. It was easy enough to figure out tho, so even tho they invited me into their discord I never really had to go ask about anything. I would have used it to report bugs but I am yet to hit one. I am sure they are there, but admittedly I have good luck with missing bugs. I usually only get the game breaking ones. ( looking at you Fractured but Whole you game breaking bastard)
Now for the game itself, what is it? Why should you be excited? Is it fun? Well the game itself is essentially what you make it. Literally. You start out getting off a boat. As you enter the world, at least in this version, you get a small tutorial of how things work. After that the world is your oyster as they say. You want to build a farm? You can do that. You want to go exploring, feel free. Do you want to get a group of friends together and raid a nearby farming settlement and steal all their stuff, you can. I should point out tho, they will be pissed. Those are real people, and they worked hard to build that farm. If they can’t hunt you down they may pay people to do it. See the world is ever changing in accordance to what the people feel like doing. People can essentially set up their own towns, with laws and stores all with real people.
One example of this started right after I started playing. I built a small fire on the beach where I started, got some food and just messed around. About half a dozen players had this same idea. They have all since moved on. I don’t know where they went, they all left while I was asleep. Really asleep by the way, you can give commands to your player, but they stay in the game when you aren’t. My guy was crafting a few odds and ends for when I came back. The game being browser based allows for a handy feature by the way (as confirmed by both the creators and I have personally done this with my cell phone) you can start on your PC, run to the store and check on your game with your phone. As of now its mostly only useful for crafting tho, which honestly is why I wanted it in the first place.
As I stated earlier the game is a bit rough, but at this early stage the game has a boat load of potential and is already fun to play. I will be watching this game and checking back in without a doubt. Below I have listed some materials, and definitely check out their Twitter. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
I love you South Park…I came across the new DLC trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole last night and I admit, I nerd-gasmed all over this shit. This maybe one of my favorite game trailers of the past few months because of the horror/ vintage Grindhouse theme. After a shitty day, this absolutely put a smile on my face. May the gaming gods bring you all glory.
