Doom Patrol season 3 trailer

I’ve caught a few episodes of Doom Patrol but honestly, this show is amazing. With season 3 coming out, I want to catch up and season 3 looks great so far. I can’t wait to see what’s next for The Chief, Robot Man, Elastic Woman, Crazy Jane, Cyborg and Negative Man. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Chapelwaite series trailer

I was confused at first when I heard of this show, seeing it was based on a Stephen King story; I wasn’t familiar until I saw it was based on the short story Jerusalem’s Lot. Yes Salem’s Lot is the same place but much different time period and there is no vampires as much as I remember. The show looks interesting enough at least. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Junji Ito Collection (anime)

Watch Junji Ito Collection | Prime Video

So as much of a nerd I am and how much I love anime, I don’t read manga. I have heard of the tales of horror legend Junji Ito so just by the cover of the anime, I was pretty excited to see what I was in store for. I wasn’t disappointed. This is an analogy series based off of a variety of stories; each episode containing two stories. A horrific model, a deadly fortune teller, a family obsessed with puppetry, and a wannabe menace trying to cause mayhem are just some of the stories. I have to give major credit to the quality of story telling in such short of a time span. The imagery is pretty damn effective and honestly some of it I found pretty creative and disturbing. The animation is top notch and I enjoyed the performances and music. In the end, if you like horror but need a quick fix, the Junji Ito collection is a anime I really recommend. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Titans season 3 trailer

Despite how bad this show has been advertised in the past and all the negative reviews, there does seem to be some potential here. First, I’m glad Nightwing and Starfire look great and the general story this time around seems fine but…Red Hood looks cheap. Like I’ve honestly seen cosplayers that looked more accurate and honestly what gets me is Red Hood’s mask isn’t even that hard of a design which baffles me why it looks fake as hell for a big budget show…may the gaming gods finally bring this show some kind of glory I suppose.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou - MyAnimeList.net

Keeping my promise to myself after watching Demon Slayer ( season 1) , I’ve been diving back into anime for inspiration. Stories like Hellsing Ultimate and Deadman Wonderland pushed the envelope of adult anime for me, but Corpse Party was pretty damn infamous and I always wondered why…until now.

9 school friends are chilling out, taking a break after a school event where they stayed behind to clean up. A very close, tight knit group of teens is about to be split when one of there friends is about to transfer school; they perform a goofy little ritual to celebrate their friendship and promise to continue it. When a massive earthquake hits, they wake up, alone in the dark and isolated and unable to leave no matter how hard they try. It’s not long before they each find mutilated corpses in the halls and realize they are locked in a school cursed by mystery, insanity, and gruesome torture. Will they make it out alive?

Oh boy…Corpse Party freaked me out more than most horror movies did in the last decade and that’s a huge compliment. The story is pretty simple but damn if it doesn’t push the concept all the way. The visuals are really disturbing and creepy and their is a great sense of tension and desperation in really well confined quarters. It’s super short at only 4 episodes but it runs really smooth and keeps a good pace. I will warn everybody of 2 things: this is an anime that has no regards for holding back on the dark subjects and sadly this anime is kind of a pain in the ass to find I’m afraid; it is on VRV. In the end, Corpse Party is a hell of a great, frightening anime that sure as hell ain’t for the faint hearted but I highly recommend. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Lucy maybe a pretty teenage girl with rounded horns to the unassuming eye, but she’s a cold, sadistic killer with insane powers. Born with Vektors, invisible arms made of energy she can control mentally, almost no one sees their grisly end coming. After breaking out of a hidden laboratory, Lucy is caught off guard by a armor piercing sniper shot to the head. The mask she wears takes much of the impact but Lucy is left mentally damaged after, becoming a childlike, simple girl named Nyu. She’s found by a kind hearted cousins Khota and Yuka and cared for as Nyu grows to care for them. Khota and Yuka form bonds with others that that desperate, hungry, and afraid, growing there family unit but danger keeps finding them, secret police, other experiments, and plenty of secrets- the most dangerous is Lucy amongst them.

This anime was damn near tailor made for me, a ultra violent mix of horror story, soap opera, and feel good family story with some awesome fights for good measure. The story is really well done and paced almost perfectly, suffering from some repetition and a lot of unanswered questions at the end. I really loved the characters, especially Nana/ Number 7 who is a really sweet, sympatric character who shows how messed up this world really is. I’m going to warn viewers, don’t watch this if heavy gore and heavy topics like animal abuse, sexual abuse, and child death bother you; this anime, for as sweet and even sugary at times is, its also freaky, bloody, and really depressing but manages to strike a good balancing act. The whole series is only 13 episodes which is just about right and makes damn good use of its runtime. The artwork and music are great; honestly I haven’t enjoyed an anime this much I think since Another and I highly recommend it. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Demon Slayer ( season 1)

Well, it’s certainly been a hot minute since I covered some anime. I’ve gotten plenty of requests as well as started many but never finishing but I’ve started again. Demon Slayer is one of the hottest anime to drop since My Hero Academia took off and the movie is now the top-grossing anime film of all time, beating Dragonball Super: Broly . So is the hype worth it?

Tanjiro is a kind hearted young man who loves and wants to take care of his mother and siblings. Life is rough but he glides through smiling kindly…until blood thirsty demons ravage his family, leaving himself and his sister Nezeko as the sole survivors; Nezeko has been left as a violent, murderous demon. Heartbroken, Tanjiro sets off to cure his sister of her demon blood and regain her humanity, undergoing the training of becoming a Demon Slayer, mastering the art of water breathing and gaining new friends as he sets off on the impossible task of not only curing his sister but hunting down the original demon to get her cure…

First and foremost, this anime is absolutely breathtaking on the eyes. The use of color and animation styles, especially during the fight scenes is truly beautiful and makes the series instantly stand out. The relationship between Tanjiro and Nezeko is simple but powerful much like Edward and Alfonse from Fullmetal Alchemist and the characters around them are fascinating and cool, both heroes and villains alike. The season ends on a really cool cliffhanger that directly leads into the movie. In the end, Demon Slayer is a very promising anime I highly recommend checking out, especially if you are new to anime or just want something both heartwarming and badass. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Bar Rescue

Bar Rescue (TV Series 2011– ) - IMDb

One of the very few things I claim as a guilty pleasure is reality TV. Of course, reality TV is never real but it’s pretty fun just to see the shit show for the camera. My all time favorite is Bar Rescue. Master businessman and bar expert Jon Taffer travels the US, saving bars from neglect and failure with a slew of experts. What can I say, I love watching crappy bar owners getting ripped apart by Taffer and seeing how bad is truly bad before the rescue. You will see some gross things in this show, and frankly, it did make me think twice before entering a bar. The show is great for learning new recipes not only for drinks but food as well which is unexpectedly cool. I have to say, in a world of bullshit reality tv, I find myself fascinated where reality and fiction divides; I believe Taffer is a good dude, I believe most of the gross shit in these bars is real, and I absolutely don’t believe all the back door you see is real because- hey there is some damn good camerawork for these private moments. In the end, like most shows of this kind, it’s repetitive but oh so satisfying and I recommend checking it out.

Road Fury Review (PS4)

Road Fury is one of those simple concept games with simple controls. There are only two options in fact, you can either use the movement controls of the controller itself or switch it in the options to work of the thumb stick/D-pad.

From there it is a simple matter of blowing up cars, collecting power ups, avoiding a few obstacles and killing bosses. You don’t even have to fire weapons, the game does this automatically for you. Just focus on the driving. Collect we much money as you can before you die and use that to upgrade your cars weapons, armor and power ups and do it again. You don’t even restart the game. If you make it 3 levels and die you will start on level 3. Go another 2 and die, restart on level 5.

This doesn’t make the game easy however. I found myself sometimes dying on the same board 6 or 7 times until I had enough money to upgrade my car enough so I could cause enough damage to beat a boss or simply hitting stuff because I wasn’t moving fast enough.

The game does have it’s limits of fun tho. With only 3 cars to choose from, 2 of which need to be unlocked and each far more powerful than the last I found the game far too repetitive around level 50, and I don’t believe there is an ending. The game is cheap tho so that helps. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
