Amateur Night (2016)

download (4)

Amateur Night is the story of Guy Carter, loving husband that is unemployed that needs some money to keep the health insurance going just long enough for his wife to have the baby. So when his wife convinces this out of work architect to take a job as a delivery guy why what could possibly go wrong?

Guy Carter doesn’t know karate or carry a weapon, which is kind of unfortunate since he is delivering women. Yup, that is right, Guy is essentially delivering hookers. At first just Nikki to a mans house that turns out to be a doctor with some rather interesting taste in head ware and rope. When Guy thinks Nikki is being attacked he causes doc to hit his head. This leads to an explanation on bondage.

After this they are off to pick up two more women ,Fallon and Jaxi. As all this goes on of course guy is freaking out more and more about becoming a father, but discovers if tonight goes well he could walk away with a cool 2 grand. More than enough to keep the insurance.

As the movie goes on there will be a bachelor party plenty of dancing and implied sexual things. None of which is actually showed so don’t go getting too excited. It actually isn’t even all that important besides to explain what they do for a living.

The movie is fun but quite predictable. There will be the usual tropes of the ladies being more than what they are, one being rich and great with money and them all being friends. Guy will learn he in fact has what it takes to be a great dad with a few random surprises as well. Predictable isn’t always bad tho. While the movie won’t show you anything new or special, it is fun and entertaining and that is really all you need. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Glass trailer 1

So, this may sound weird as hell to a lot of people, but Glass is one of my most anticipated films of 2019. Let me start by saying I’m not a expert on Shyamalan’s work. I know Last Airbender sucked and I’m sorry but I wasn’t into the Sixth Sense or Signs. I never saw Unbreakable but I loved Split . Glass is a sequel to both, the third in the trilogy. I may not like much of work, but I do have a lot of respect for Shyamalan and how he tries to tell different kind of stories. Glass is no exception. I think its a damn good trailer for a different kind of superhero movie. I love the actors involved; James McAvoy has some creepy moments already and the premise is cool. I seriously can’t wait, and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Just Before I Go (2015)

Just Before I Go is a comedy, but it’s actually a pretty dark comedy in a way. The movie starts with a man underwater.

This is Ted, Ted is a pretty basic guy with a pretty basic job. Most people would even call him boring. One day at his boring job he meets his wife, Penny. Penny eventually gets bored and cheats on him with her guitar teacher. In the ensuing argument she tells him he may as well be dead, and this is when he decides he really would be better off dead. First however he has some things to do.

When Ted goes home to his home town to stay with his brother and his family things get a bit weird right out the gate. The first night his nephew tells him to use the dead bolt that’s on the guest room door, which he doesn’t only to discover his sister-in-law sleep masturbates in front of house guest. His nephew is hiding the fact that he is gay, which he confided in Ted, which leads to an entirely new predicament with the family.

Ted will also confront his childhood bully and have a small romance with the girl he had a crush on from 4th grade, that happens to now be married. All this while finding a new romance with a family member of the teacher that tormented him after the death of his father.

Now if this sounds like a lot going on, it is. That isn’t to say the movie is bad, I actually rather enjoyed it. The movie did get mixed reviews however, with metacritic giving it a 24% and rotten tomatoes a 10%. IMDb does give it a 6.4/10 with 91% of google users liking it. The movie is busy, but it seems to be another case where critics don’t like it, but people do. I am in this category as well. I enjoyed it a lot.

The movie while not perfect and at times quite busy is quite funny and while has an interesting yet cliché take on suicide. The movie doesn’t shy away from certain subjects like how the gay community is treated many times in high school or by family or even how many feel about themselves because of it. It also has shows how some times bullies act a certain way because of how they are treated, but also because sometimes they themselves are just crappy people.

The movie isn’t for everyone clearly, and it does deal with some sensitive subject matter that may bother or upset some people. It is however entertaining and thought-provoking. Movies don’t always make me stop and think, but this one did. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Titans live action trailer

Teen Titans is my second favorite Dc animated show of all time; nothing is ever beating Batman: the animated series for me. And For all those wondering, Go can kiss my ass and call it ice cream. Well, this show can kiss my ass too. 99% of the time, I’m able to overlook bad trailers and drastic changes but the first trailer for live action Titans show pissed me off. Here’s why, because I don’t make this statement lightly.

First, DC hasn’t learned from one of it’s biggest mistakes in the overly dark tone of Batman Vs Superman , repeating it here in a series that sure as hell didn’t need it. The Titans have some dark stories but they aren’t this level dark, which having Robin say “Fuck Batman” isn’t dark, it makes him look like a emo brat. With the exception of Robin, the characters range from meh to damn right crappy. The effects aren’t great compared to things I’ve seen on the CW. What pisses me off so much is the Titans could make a good live action series or a movie, and the show proved it can serious but fun, not this. May the gaming gods bring you glory, and remember the real Titans.

Batman: Year One

batman year 1

There have been many upon many retelling of the origin of Batman and one of the most iconic is Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, which helped inspire Batman Begins. Year One as far as story is pretty self explanatory. Gotham is a crime infested hellhole full of crooked cops and mainly controlled by mob families. Young Detective Jim Gordon transferred willingly here with his budding family in search of money and a new start but quickly learns Gotham is no place for a good man. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne returns after nearly a decade abroad, prepared to seek vengance on the crime that took the life of his parents. At first, dressed in black he attacks the small time crooks to no avail. Using his fear of bats, his natural intellect, and the skills he learned across the globe, he chooses a new identity, something to scare the wicked. Gordon and the newly emerged Batman of Gotham are fighting for justice, but can they work together?

I admire the book for it’s intamcy in regards to Gordon and Wayne’s thoughts and stories. I enjoyed how Batman’s origin wasn’t tied to a specific super villian but fighting the crime families of Gotham. It was cool to see the thought processes behind Batman’s transform, as well the impact he makes on others. There’s an iconic scene where he engages the family heads directly that always stuck with me. I found it weird Catwoman started off as hooker in this and didn’t really think she needed to be there. I did see the animated film which was adapted really damn well and I recommend seeing in conjunction with the book or just on it’s own. If you want a cool origin and a good crime drama, this is well worth the read. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

The Division 2 Beta Record

download (1)

Earlier this year Ubisoft announced The Division 2 and started taking sign-ups for the beta. The previous Division game held the companies previous record for most beta sign ups for the company, well The Division 2 reportedly has 4 times as many. They have yet to confirm exactly how the beta will work or what it will entail, but as you can tell people are excited. For more details check Gamerant.com.

Overlord trailer 1

The last few days I heard a lot about a movie called Overlord that I never heard of. Weirdly enough, I’ve gotten to a point where I expect to know something about every damn movie I come in contact with. This time I went in blind and I was gladly surprised. After Star trek (reboot) and Star Trek: Into Darkness as well as The Force Awakens I’m excited to see a R rated J.J Abrams movie. This trailer is awesome and I can’t wait to get something a little different this year. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Christopher Lloyd Would be for Back to the Future 4, if Done Right.

download (4)

With rumors around for a Back to the Future 4 Christopher Lloyd has finally chimed in, and his response has been pretty positive. If the story could be done the right way he would love to do it. Screen Rant has the full story. My opinion tho is that while I love Back to the Future, the series should just end as a trilogy. What do you guys think? Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers vol 2

power rangers vol 2

Again, another shout out to Autobot for letting me borrow these books. Picking up where Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: vol 1 left off, tensions are at a all time high between Rangers, especially Zach and Tommy. The reason for Zach’s paranoia stems from a secret encounter he had with Rita, before the Green Ranger even appeared. Using his nature against him, he offered him the Green power to help bring order to the world if he would just abandon his friends and achieve the greatness he sought. He turned it down but he felt the overwhelming ease and guilt at the wanting he felt. A new monster, the Black Dragon, has descended on them, kidnapping Billy and zapping all the Rangers expect for Tommy’s, leading to Tommy and an unpowered Jason to lead a raid on Rita’s palace to free the captured Blue Ranger…Once again, I was really into this comic. The characters are done well, being fun but heartfelt, and the action is awesome. Seeing the Dragonzord in space was pretty damn sweet. If you liked the first volume, feel free to jump to into the second and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
