First a disclaimer. I am not simply taking a shot at Bethesda. They just happen to be the first company I have experienced doing this. I have no doubt others have done this, and if they haven’t they soon will. And it is a slap in the face to customers in my humble opinion. Feel free to comment others that have done this tho.
Anyway, this week I bought the game of the year version of Fallout 4. I picked up the original when it first released, really enjoyed it as did my daughter. Beat it, traded it in bought some new stuff and figured I would do the usual and buy the GOTY edition when it came out. Did this with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, did this with the Elder Scrolls games as well. I have also done this with other companies games that I enjoyed. I never have it in me to wait for all the DLC to trickle out anyway plus they have always just tossed it all in the disk and I like that.
Flash forward to this week. Figure pick it up, me and my daughter can bounce it between systems ( I own a PS4 pro she has my old PS4) and enjoy. I pop that bad boy open and install. No DLC installed. That’s annoying but hey maybe its pretty big and it sort of unlocks and I download it..no. Shoot maybe I missed something on the case..nope a few passes and I see nothing. This shit is hidden if its even there.
I’m hoping I’m wrong. Don’t tell me Bethesda did this to me. Yea. Right there where they used to stick instruction manuals is a code on a card for the season pass. The GOTY edition is literally nothing more than the base game in a new case with a code for the season pass. Suffice it to say this is the most disappointed I have ever been in a GOTY edition of a game. Sure if you don’t own the game its a good deal, but it is a huge disappointment if you do or still like games on a disk. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

1 Xenomorph (Alien)- what can I say except that no creature in my mind represents beauty and dread like the creature ripped from Giger’s nightmarish design, the perfect organism.
2. Werewolf- tragic beasts that are man by day and monsters by night. My attraction to these creatures is that it is totally beyond there control; they are as much victims as those they slaughter. Also, they look epic and weren’t they a bitchin part of Skyrim?
3. Necromorph (Dead Space trilogy)- how do we make zombies scary again? Mix them with the sporadic nature of Carpenter’s Thing and put the bastards in space. Always in various fucked up forms, Necromorphs are a flexible zombie alternative to haunt your dreams.
4. Nemesis (Resident Evil 3)- speaking of zombie alternatives, how about a zombie on steroids in a trench coat with long tentacles, a rocket launcher, and a screw you attitude. Also I forgot to mention, he doesn’t go down at all. Almost nothing stops this behemoth.
5. Frankenstein’s monster- a classic, tragic beast constructed from the dead body parts stolen by a young man curious about life and death. The monster has been brought to life many times but I can’t help but be fascinated by the idea and he is pretty epic in the book, a Karloff was amazing.
