Bow To Blood – The Review — All The PlayStation You’ll Ever Need.

Sometimes we may see a movie, play a game or even read a book where a character just almost has a life of its own. There was a movie called Empire Records and in the movie, there was a date of April 8th. What is April the 8th…well that is Rex Manning Day. But as […]

Die Hard with a Vengeance

Die hard 3

I want to start this review with a special shout out to my Dad, Duke, who got me into Die Hard as a kid. My favorite Die Hard needs to be shared with my favorite badass..

So after the events of Die Hard (1988) and Die Hard 2: Die Harder , John McClane is in a pretty rough place. His wife and family left him, filthy and drunk as a cop in New York fighting to keep his job. After a massive bombing, the terrorist responsible has a demand: he wants to play a game with McClane, but he didn’t count on a good Samaritan, Zeus, saving him. This terrorist named only Simon is driven to kill McClane, putting him and Zeus  through insane scenarios while Simon carries out his own agenda, but it isn’t long before John realizes Simon’s vendetta goes  back to his first great adventure- Simon was Han’s brother.

Die Hard with a Vengeance is pretty much what a action movie sequel should be. Bruce Willis, Samuel Jackson, and Jeremy Irons give great performances. The action scenes are truly badass and for the first time in the series, we get a lot of different locations so nothing ever feels stale. What helps too is the chemistry between Willis and Jackson which carries the film. What I truly love about the first 4 Die Hard films is how beat to shit McClane is by the end. I can’t stand action movies where no one gets dirty, just maybe a cut or two; in Die Hard, you know John McClaine ain’t Superman and the tension mounts because he wins every fight by the skin of his teeth. I seriously recommend tthe third Die Hard as much as the first and with that: may the gaming gods bring you glory and yippie-ki-ay motherfucker everyone ( even though it’s not Christmas)

One Last Shot (1998)

download.jpg

One shot is a short film by Mike Clattenberg which most of you know from Trailer Park boys. It featured the characters Rickey, Julian and Mr. Lahey and told the story of Rickey and Julians last day together before Rickey moved to Vancouver.

At first I thought the movie wasn’t very good but I realized it wasn’t really fair to judge a 20-year-old short film shot by friends and 3 guys to harshly. Sure Clerks is basically a cult classic but that is equal parts genius and fluke to be honest.

One last shot was actually fairly well put together, the scenes make sense and for a black and white film the lighting is actually well done. At no point did I feel like the dark parts were overly dark or the light taking away from anything and the acting while a bit bland at times didn’t exactly feel stiff. It just felt like what it was, people who loved movies that wanted to make one and get some experience and honestly that showed. I have seen much higher production value movies feel less heartfelt and honest than this did. Its only 30 minutes and it very much worth checking out if you are a fan of his or the Trailer Park Boys (which I am not) best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Scary Stories To Tell In A Movie — nscovell

If you asked a person who grew up in both the 80’s and 90’s, what books they remember as youngsters. There’s a good chance that individual will say Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was a past favorite. Many of us remember these three books and fondly remember reading the various tales within the […]

Graveyard Shift

graveyard shift

If Pet Sematary was my first introduction to King’s work, Graveyard Shift- circa the short story collection Night Shift – would be my second. The story, while brief, is about a textile mill with an massive rat infestation. They practically pour out of the floors and walls, but what happens when you try to exterminate the pests? A freak of nature lurks in the catacombs under the dying mill, a creature half rat and half bat. After grisly deaths happen at the mill, a new guy in town, the girl he falls for, the bastard foreman, and a group of workers have to journey into the basement to clear the rats, only to find the beast underneath…

This is basically a B movie creature-feature from Stephen King and it’s pretty solid. The story is quick with some good atmosphere and it’s got a darker ending then the movie, though the movie ain’t exactly cheery by the end. As for the movie, it’s a decent horror movie. There is some fair kills of some pretty forgettable characters and the creature doesn’t look bad for the time. Brad Douriff is over the time and funny as hell as the exterminater but I’m kind of pissed his character doesn’t really go anywhere. If you are scared of rats, this movie will terrify the hell out of you but other than that, it ain’t a bad movie. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Supernatural season 7

download (6)

Season 7 of Supernatural brings us another big enemy with the Leviathans, the beings that were here before the Humans. Cass brought them out of Purgatory with him, and when the renegade angel turned god puts all the souls back into Purgatory they decide not to go, and they of course are not peaceful.

We will also see out dear brothers Sam and Dean dealing with the loss of their dear friend Bobby, tho he is a ghost. I don’t want to spoil much but at this point the series has hit a sort of pattern. That isn’t bad, but we basically see the same thing here as the last couple seasons. Sam and Dean fight, bad guys do stuff. Sam and  Dean make up, bad guys die, this sets off a reaction freeing the next bad guy or incident that pushes the series along. You will see the same thing here with the defeat of the Leviathans and the consequences that follow. The season is still good and I enjoyed season 7, but that pattern can not be ignored. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Wish I Was here (2014)

download (5)

Wish I was here is a pretty simple and straight forward movie. Basically a family having trouble making ends meet, dad is a struggling actor and mom, well they are never all that clear on what mom does, basically works with computers entering data.  Thankfully they cut a deal with Aiden Bloom’s (Zack Braff) father to pay for school as long as he picked the school. As a Jewish man of strong faith he chose a Jewish school. Sadly he has cancer that has returned and he can no longer afford to pay for school.

It is later decided that the kids will be home schooled until next year when they will go to public school, something Aiden isn’t happy about. The movie is a comedy but above all it is honestly a feel good family movie, tho you probably  let your kids watch it as it does deal with some adult content. The movie itself isn’t bad and is good for some laughs, it is just a bit odd. The conflict you are used to in movies honestly doesn’t really exist here. You never feel like the family is being torn apart or anything like that. It is simply the story of how the family deals with pulling together during a time of trouble.

If you are in to that sort of movie definitely give it a watch, it is a nice drama/comedy, but unless you are fans of that type of movie there isn’t much here for you. I don’t regret watching it, but I wouldn’t watch it again. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.

Await further instructions trailer

Isn’t Christmas time magical? Well, this trailer looks like a tense meet and greet during the holidays turns into Saw on acid it seems. With all this heat and mugginess, a little Christmas horror is welcome so during the holiday it can be a cool watch. May the gaming gods bring you glory.

Mr Massagy (PS4)

download (4).jpg

Mr Massagy is basically a dating game about getting massages. That isn’t code, it even tells you where to put your controller and each, well I won’t say woman, makes the controller vibrate different. The game is basically a dating sim, you will date a woman,a cow, a ghost the list is weird. The game is good for a chuckle, but honestly the only reason to play this game is the fact that in 15-30 minutes you can get a platinum trophy. Seriously, while the game looks nice and is good for a laugh the game is short and pointless. The trophies are its only selling point. So for trophy hunters its worth the $4, everyone else, don’t waste your time or money. Best wishes and may the gaming gods bring you glory.
